So nice of you to mention those. I'm not much of a tractor guy, but now I wish I had one or could just try one out. Loved going to the farms to sketch. People are so nice if you don't just charge onto their property.
Thank you Kelly. Sorry I don't post as much anymore, I've been busy with work and getting out into nature, so haven't had a lot of spare time for YT. Etcher Labs is waiting on me to review their sketchbooks, it's been like 9 months. 🙂
Wow, you've been busy! Such lovely work, I really enjoyed getting to see them. I hope you have some fun adventures planned for this summer as well! All the best to you guys :)
Really enjoyed watching this video, and yes I could see the change as the paintings I second half of second book were much looser but also very charming
Thank you so much for noticing that and commenting. I think I get marginally better by just loosening up a bit. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
You're always kind to my Lindsay, and also my inspiration. Love seeing your work advance and you having fun painting. You remind me how far a person can go if they practice regularly.
Well if it isn't my old friend and nicest person on the internet and best teacher. Good to hear from you Kate. You're always so kind and I look forward to your comments. Thanks for watching the video.
Well this is a bright spot in my day! Minnesota looks a lot like Wisconsin! Enjoyed and added to my favorites so I can watch again and again. Thanks Marty and I hope it is cooler up by you than it is in southern Wisco! Peace out...
Hi Toni - You live in a great place. I love so much of Wisconsin, from the lake country in the north to Door county and even the farms of the south, it's all lovely. Now, if you didn't have the Packers, the state would be perfect. ;-)
A great collection of sketches, Marty - and even the captions describing each sketch have their own artistic flair. Thanks for sharing them with us - best wishes, Brian.
Good to hear from you old friend. Thanks for checking out the video. Apologies for being a stranger. If you ever feel inclined you should look me up on FB. I'd love to connect with you Brian. You're such a supportive and kind person.
I love the paceful feeling it transferes, it's like being there ♡ Also I live in a town that look alike the drawings of the first minute of the video and I have never seen the beauty of it until now!
@@owingsart quite the opposite, in fact I find it really boring. But now, your sketchbook inspires me on trying to draw the fields that are in my town that I'd never found it beautiful until now! Now I'm gonna see it with other eyes. Greetings from Buenos Aires :)
I couldn't read the written text; but, the sketches were really nice. When the first sketches in the first book are compared with the last sketches in the second book, that's where I see the loosening up. I have that same sketchbook that I originally was going to use for sketching. I did some doodle sketches on the first page and the rest of the book is filled with ink swatching. Every time I get a new pen, I test it out. Every time I get new ink, I also test it out. I still have quite a few samples to test out.
Hi Donna - How is life in Cheese land? ;-) I hope you are well. It's okay to experiment or just doodle in a sketchbook I think. I know people see them as works of art, but they really are a safe place to practice. No one ever has to see them right? Thanks for noticing the loose pieces in the second book. I think I slowly got a little better. Thanks for the comments as always.
@@owingsart I've always associated Wisconsin with cheese. I have never lived there. Washington state is where I live and it is much more than the Evergreen State. Have you ever tried Theo chocolate bars? Theo Chocolate is the first and as far as I know, the only organic and fair trade chocolate in the country. There are other food items Washington is famous for, including Almond Roca, Applets and Cotlets, Tim's Cascade Chips, Rainier Cherries, Walla Walla Sweet Onions, among others. Washington has dairy cows; but, most of the cattle in the state are beef cattle.
@@Donna_G Hi Donna - I always thought you lived in Wisconsin for some reason. My fault. I have had many of the items in your list, but I need to look up the chocolate.
lovely sketchbooks. love that you go beyond your border, i always enjoy that look. also love the cows, they look great. the second one reminds me of cathy johnsons style, with the added titles and journaly feels. really really lovely, also the nature and animal studies.
@@owingsart She made a Artist Journal handbook, with very lovely examples, and it helped me get started in doing my own. Do you ever take loose sheets on the go?
Very lovely sketches. I especially like the barns and cows. Tfs

I always love your landscapes but those cows!!❤
Very kind. Thank you Melanie.
Very nice Marty! I especially love the tractors and farm scenes. That’s how I learned to drive ~ on a tractor.
