    色々な国からのコメントがありますね👍️
    沖縄県各地様々な獅子舞があります。
    地域によってはもっと荒い獅子や、怖い獅子もいます。
    獅子舞で沖縄に興味を持ってもらえたら嬉しいです♪

Yes, it is lion dance so the animal is a lion :-) The style of the animal is specific to Okinawa island in Japan, so it may look different from lion dances in other areas.

Regarding lion dances in mainland of Japan: it is said to be introduced from China as part of "Gigaku" performance around 8th century. One of oldest lion's masks that exist in Japan has an inscription of year 752.
Regarding lion dances in Okinawa: it is thought to be introduced from China, but not sure. One of oldest lion dances in Okinawa is of Shuri Tera-cho town, which is said to begin around 1422-1439. See this Japanese article if you're interested: www.dee-okinawa.com/topics/2011/09/terashishimai.html

According to the Japanese history book, Nihonshoki (Chronicles of Japan), the lion dance was introduced to Japan in 612.
Shishimai was introduced from China to Korea at that time, and from Korea to Japan.
The Okinawan lion dance is quite different from the lion dances of other parts of Japan and is considered to be close to the Chinese lion dance.
Okinawa Prefecture used to be called Ryukyu Kingdom, a country different from Japan.

A large number of historical records. Officials and nobles of Ryukyu 琉球are from Fujian Province 福建, China. They are Chinese elites sent by the Chinese emperor. They are responsible for developing this backward area (In the same situation as ancient Japan倭. Korea朝鮮. North Vietnam 交趾 ...). Establish a Chinese regime in the local area. So they wear Chinese officials' clothes and use Chinese characters (mainly lived in the Chinese palace built locally). In the letter they wrote to the Chinese emperor, they have always claimed to be the Chinese. They are the same as the language of the Han people in Fujian Province. Han dialect漢方言-Yuenan Language 閱南語 (Taiwanese also).

It's a lion :-) Dragon and Lion are different creatures. I know many people mistake a lion for a dragon though.
