Consolidation of concepts, not ploughing through a massive curriculum overloaded with assessments. 30 in a class maximum, otherwise it's crowd control. Teach student teachers HOW to teach literacy and numeracy. Children should leave the foundation phase able to read and write and work with numbers. Those teaching student teachers should spend regular time teaching children IN schools to be aware of the challenges. Children deserve teachers who are well trained and passionate about making a difference.

We need to end pit toilets, we need more school for poor children, we need to get rich schools to share their resources, some of the resources obtained pre 94.. we got to improve the chances of the poor kids, be they black, or white or coloured.. if you start now it will take maybe another two generations to see results.

Pay the teachers better. Many teachers are working abroad. Bring back those teachers. Speak to te teachers. Those on the ground. Hear what the frustrations of teachers are. They are the ones thats teaching ,thats in the class.
