Watching on youtube Tv via roku. Had the volume on tv wide open. Had volume on m $5000 hearing aids wide open. Still COULDN'T hear it!. Y'all need to fix this or let the old videos come back. Powertube isn't cutting it.
Bro ya said it's near Knoxville but I think ya mean't Chattanooga. I have been there numerous times cause I live about 20 ish minutes away and spent my High School years in the area.
You state "around the country". How about scheduling a date at Cecil County Dragway in MD or Capitol Raceway Park in Crofton, MD. or possibly Maple Grove in Mohnton, PA. My first time at the drags was at Aquasco, MD and gassers may have looked like stocke cars to me because I was 11 years old. I do remember seeing Vernon Rawley's Pink Sattelite altered. It was in 1959. I believe it was not formed until the early 60's. It is my favorite class and I would love to see this organization race at a nearby venue. Growing up, 2 friends flogged gassers in the C/gas class and both ran Y-block Fords. I withessed the "filthy 40" (Hill and Zartman) do the wheel stand dragging the bumper that put them in Hot Rod magazine. I was just north of the starting line on pit road. When it came down, the front wheels actually wobbled left and right. They pulled it back to the pits, loaded up and something had to be broken that could not be fixed at the track. That and the Jolly Dolly were my favorite gassers even though my friends raced and I traveled with them to the strips. I miss 75-80 in Monrovia, MD. After it closed, Maryland Public Television filmed 1/4 mile testing of new cars on the show Motorweek at this facility. Let's pursue get it brought back to prominence. The apartment complex that was supposed to be constructed is dead and thank the Lord. I honestly feel that the NHRA is missing out for not bringing the class back and placing rules on the cars that can participate. I despise turbos. Unfortunately for the member of Southeast Gasser Assoc., the strips I am referring to are 1/4 mile instead of the 50% versions normally run.
