I feel like its difficult for these countries to place nowadays since the MUO looks more for women with a western ideal beauty standard and countries like Korea and Japan have their very own standard of beauty not even East Asian style of beauty but their own country specific style of beauty
i think MUO is looking for women who communicates well, i know speaking language should not be a pre-requisite to be a miss universe, but lets face it, they will be dealing with a lot of people with different languages and english as the main language.
Well, they are usually looking for people who are confident and/or energetic. Asian women tend to be more reserved (as part of their culture) which is why they are at a disadvantage mostly. I mean, look at Vietnam 2018 who could barely speak english, yet was a favorite to win due to her energy and stage presence.

I wish Korea embraces diversity, too like what Japan’s doing these days. It would be a better step up for Korea to send candidates with different beauty representations and not stick with the standard beauty that is more acceptable to the Korean society. I still believe Korea can be open to this kind of matter.
I think I have an unpopular opinion on the matter. If a blonde white woman (not mestiza but a pure blonde girl) was crowned Miss Philippines, do you think Filipinos would see her as Filipino? Give the diversity to the western countries. Asian countries, most of which are ethnically homogeneous, should not conform to the west's racial diversity concept for the sake of diversity. The title Miss Korea is for Koreans, not white or black people, unless ofcourse they are half, but I'm sure halfies are too few to represent the over 90% homogeneous population of Korea. Asian nations have a different view on race because most often than not, Asian nations are homogenous unlike the West. You cannot force Asian countries to be as diverse as the west because Western concept of diversity is almost non existent in many Asian countries. Most Asian nations were built by people native to the land. You cannot expect them to anoint a representative who does not represent their culture, their history, their heritage and their face, all because foreigners demand diversity from them. It is good to embrace diversity, but do not force it on other nations just for your own amusement or for the sake of being called "diverse". Just my opinion, no one has to agree with me or disagree. Just saying my unpopular opinion on the matter.
@@thwb4661 people are shocked to see the difference between honey Lee in Miss Korea and Miss universe. The major surgery she got was breast implants but the makeup, stage projection, etc. were all executed by her. The reason why Miss Koreas fail is because they never prepared like her.
As a Japanese, my wish is that the Philippines would also make it to the finals of Miss U with a representative who doesn't have any considerable amount of foreign ancestry.

I wish Korea embraces diversity, too like what Japan’s doing these days. It would be a better step up for Korea to send candidates with different beauty representations and not stick with the standard beauty that is more acceptable to the Korean society. I still believe Korea can be open to this kind of matter.
And I found the original ones are more beautiful.
I think I have an unpopular opinion on the matter.
If a blonde white woman (not mestiza but a pure blonde girl) was crowned Miss Philippines, do you think Filipinos would see her as Filipino?
Give the diversity to the western countries. Asian countries, most of which are ethnically homogeneous, should not conform to the west's racial diversity concept for the sake of diversity.
The title Miss Korea is for Koreans, not white or black people, unless ofcourse they are half, but I'm sure halfies are too few to represent the over 90% homogeneous population of Korea.
Asian nations have a different view on race because most often than not, Asian nations are homogenous unlike the West. You cannot force Asian countries to be as diverse as the west because Western concept of diversity is almost non existent in many Asian countries. Most Asian nations were built by people native to the land. You cannot expect them to anoint a representative who does not represent their culture, their history, their heritage and their face, all because foreigners demand diversity from them.
It is good to embrace diversity, but do not force it on other nations just for your own amusement or for the sake of being called "diverse".
Just my opinion, no one has to agree with me or disagree. Just saying my unpopular opinion on the matter.

@@thwb4661 people are shocked to see the difference between honey Lee in Miss Korea and Miss universe. The major surgery she got was breast implants but the makeup, stage projection, etc. were all executed by her. The reason why Miss Koreas fail is because they never prepared like her.
