I've got a 73 MGB and I am looking at a 1962 MGA... Can't wait to pull the trigger on it.

I own a 1962 Chariot Red MGA. Because i live in Southern California my top has never been up, even though it's brand new. By far the best bang for the buck of any sports cars, and i've had many.

What a fantastic interview and what an interesting chap Sir Bob is! You’ll have to have him on more often! The MGA isn’t too bad either 😉👍

Please do not get a flat tyre ....... otherwise you'll need to use that hammer shaped thingy you found in the boot - oh and if you do use it make sure you use the "hide" end!

It’s a beautiful car, but 1) it’s a 1960 1600 not a ‘62 MK II…1588 vs 1622 cc’s unless the block was bored out or has a newer 1622 block/cam 2.) It most definitely doesn’t need to heat up lol I can tell why he didn’t know what the heater was…that thing must’ve been running HOT by the time it took off 3.) I hope so badly that the aluminum boot lid already had those holes 4.) That hammer is so you can hit the chrome knock-off spinners on the wire wheels without damaging them (I still use a terry cloth)
Nevertheless, it’s a beautiful car and makes me happy to see it being saved! I’d recommend a bit more research to the owner…purchase an original BMC operating manual and a copy of “Original MGA”…you won’t regret it!
I’m currently restoring a 1960 MGA 1600 in chariot red with black interior/red piping per the heritage certificate. It has the steel wheels, but was shipped to the States with whitewalls. Basically Elvis Presley lol. Have had 2 Chariot Red 1600 MKII’s, Chariot Red 1600 Coupe, and a Chariot Red MKII Deluxe. Also raced a 1600 MKII Coupe and currently race a ‘59 MGA Twin Cam in Olde English White running twin Weber 40 DCOE carbs. Still have the original H6 setup for car shows. Currently have a 1930 MG M-Type, ‘31 M-Type Double 12, ‘35 EX-Works PA (factory fitted PB engine), ‘48 TC, ‘55 TF-1500, ‘59 Twin Cam, ‘60 MGA 1600, ‘66 Austin-Healey 3000 MKIII, ‘68 MGC, and ‘73 MGB GT V

Im sorry to inform you but that is not a 1962 MGA( or at least the body is not). The 62 does not have any taillights on the rear fenders and the front grill on a 62 has a setback vertical grill. Its a beautiful car though, possibly a 1959 or 1960, 61.

You my friend have never used a starting handle - especially as you have no idea that the mallet is for undoing the wheel nuts

    Wrong taillights if it's a 1962

Has it got reverse? ... you really missed an opportunity there - you should have said no and made him get out and push it backwards!

@@AJThePlayerUA-camChannel Also be careful with the starting handle as a kickback can break your thumb. Keep it tucked in. Thanks for showing the hood folding, I've been doing that the wrong way for 20 years, so I also learnt something new.

You're driving a classic British car with wire knock-off wheels - and neither of you knows what the copper hammer is for?
