Error at 5:30. This isn't a departure from the classic loop, this is the classic loop. In old C&C games you could only train units from a single production facility of that type, designated as you 'primary', which could also be switched. You would also receive a boost in training speed for each additional building of this type.
Makes it worse that he called it a pretty unique mechanic. So unique its only in every C&C game and copies. Gonna need to re earn his nerd card after this.
Thank you. I had to stop watching this review there as it became evident he never played the actual C&C games. And since 8 and 9 bit armies is a boomer RTS made by millenials, for millenials, you have to know these kind of things.
Would be cool if they added all the factions from their 8-bit games so that players could relive the "8-Bit Arena" experience from long ago. Would be cool to fight as Orcs against Aliens again.
Loved that fact of the 8-bit games, you only needed to have one version, to play with friends who had the others. Was real fun to have a mixed army from all 3 games in a match if you got lucky with the chests.

the time reduction of muti production buildings was in the original C&C as well, so this is very much C&C. It was Total Annulation that made people get used to muti production making units individually. Building multiple buildings was another TA addition, not a OG C&C thing, it was RA2 that added the ability to at least build 2 things at once, defensive and main. Does the campaign have a real story with missions having voice acting, events, character interactions and basically everything that C&C more or less had from the beginning? I really missed that in the 8-Bit games. There was just a small wall of text before the start and the missions stayed mostly the same from beginning to end.
@@SeanUCFI hope that there will be at least a little more than that. It doesn't need much. Just some average voice actors and in engine cutsences or even some blocky prerendered stuff before the missions. I don't mind if the writing is cheesy. The question for Petroglyph is, they had a CnC Renegade spirit successor in the works, but they made Great War and now 9-bit, did they strike a deal with EA and are developing a fleshed out Renegade successor?
I wish that one faction were made up of 2D sprites and the other made of crude 3D models.
