Gustav Holst , Master merci ! ! !
An excellent performance of a thoroughly delightful composition.

Dougie Henshall, if you happen to be on You Tube at any time soon, listen to the Scherzo: Presto from Holst's Cotswold Symphony. It has positively grown on me. Might remind you a wee bit of Elgar but he, Vaughn Williams & Holst were inspired by each other's work. It will positively grow on you when you listen to this again. Great music to drive by.

A modest, congenial work that, in length and spirit, reminds me of George Lloyd's Sixth Symphony, although Holst's isn't as memorable; he hadn't attained his original mature voice, and he perhaps was trying too hard to evoke his intended landscape. The performance and recording here certainly make the best case for it, and I'm sure it would grow in stature with repeated hearings.
Actually, Dougie if you haven't heard it yet, it is the Finale. Really racy feel to it for driving. Do try, you will be hooked.
