It has been a while. Hugs are always appreciated. Kids are great, grandkids are awesome. Decided to not go with the pool after all as I'm old, and I'd rather spend the money on Onewheel stuff. The ingenuity with this video is over the top, no matter the level of jank with the build. Certainly a very cool project to undertake with limited resources, and using the VESC board as the brake/control was inspired (along with Nico's script to manage things). It was cool seeing a sciency collab between everyone, and let's face it, we're all a bit nerdy when it comes to even wanting to ride these things, even if we don't understand the math behind it all (no worries Julian, I managed to get consecutively worse grades in Algebra C-, D, F... when you had to get a C+ to get into Geometry).
🗑🦖 This was dope. I'd be curious to see more boards measured and added to the graph... Pint, Plus, v1, new firmware Pint X/S... it would be cool to be able to visualize the history of Onewheels from a power standpoint.
Even if the numbers aren't perfect the relative values should be accurate. Great video. If you want to get these on a real Dyno Area 13 ebikes has one and they are only 50 miles or so away in Grass Valley. Is love to see a UA-cam Collab
That was incredible, even a hug from Julian at the end 😍 Thanks for getting my machine back to me boys 🙏🙌 If y'all want a VOW build, I'm aiming to make better tutorials soon. You can also reach out to me for a commission 💪
@@TheFloatLife I know it would kill Julian but more vids like this would be incredible. Maybe a deep dive into how you've prototyped products as they come out, like the new kush fronts, would be sick. 🔥🚀
Ive thought about a "how its made" series with some of the stuff we do, but I'd be sitting on terabytes of footage that probably would never see the light of day. But we have some really cool stuff planned for the near future similar to this
Wait the aussie guy with the blue board didnt want it back???? whaaat also my time to brag is now i went on a group ride with stanley 2 or so years ago at christmas time right when he got a pintx, and he was talking about making a super powerful board and he actually did it
First, LOVE seeing this style of content on your guys’ channel. And it’s always great to see Julian in front of the camera. Second, when Julian mentioned 20/20 at 13:20, triggered. 🙉🦠
Whoa, I've been waiting for this video, nice work! I feel sorry for the tester board underneath lmao, did you guys monitor temps? Also, couldn't you use something like a Floatwheel as a tester so you could test the VOW board as well?
Battery on the tester did get a bit warm at times. In hindsight, we should have redone everything using a floatwheel as brake, but it was a lot of time already spent.
Definitely had to pause a number of times for overheating haha, we waited for a while once it started creeping up as to avoid the higher temps affecting performance
Please do the Pint X-V on this! Its power is unreal. Tony says it evens it out with the GT-S in power and I think he might be on but confirming would be amazing. Please, Please, PLEEEASE!? ❤
This wasn't anything like 'normal' TFL content but as someone who regularly enjoys the likes of the hacksmith and other engineering youtubers, this was absolute treat and I would be ecstatic to see more electric vehicle based engineering shenanigans out of TFL!
Great video! Excellent content, thanks for explaining the Future Motion graphs. Please also test the Floatwheel's GTV and XRV ( Tony just dropped the XRV this week for all the XR riders ) and it apparently has more power than the GTS.
Fucking great video… I recommend more safety with experimental testing devices. A failure could have seen a 20+ mph OneRocket at someone. Hell, safety glasses and not being either in front or behind the boards woulda been… advised. Happy no one was hurt and love the data!
Why not eliminate unneeded parts of the onewheel and attach the motor of the vesc, and its controller/battery (or even just a bench power supply) to the frame?
We needed the board mostly in tact to push on the force gauge. we brainstormed a ton of different designs when the idea came up and one of the original was something along the lines of what you proposed but we couldn't quite figure out how to translate the motion from the brake
Excellent resourcefulness and data analysis!! I love the vibin' ride vids and challenge vids, but this kinda stuff just spices it up! Great job Julian and team! 🤙🏼

I agree! Original pint x vs the new firmware would be super interesting as well.

unfortunately that was recorded a few months ago, so It was the previous tune

I don't understand how this works. Does the bottom board's tire have traction beneath it or is it totally suspended on the bearings?
Totally suspended! It’s braking in increments and giving us a readout on the force gauge
wait, but as the bottom board moves against the gauge aren't you once again not aligned and imposing a force?
the gauge doesn't really move.
Totally thought this was going to be a baseball launcher 🤣🤣
Maybe one day it will be, stay tuned 👀
