I’d like to think that Guinness are portraying his incredible solo march here that he did alone to save two lives. From what I have read about Tom they hit the nail on the head. An absolute legend of a man with a big heart.
I'm from Sydney Australia ..but I will travel to the South Pole Inn and drink a pint of Guinness in memory of this man...next to my Dad ..my greatest hero.
That ad tells a great story of one single man fighting a great, merciless force, who, at his lowest point, is inspired by his happy future. It was inspiring to se him rise up as if to say, "I will not die here, and not today. I'm going home." It shows the importance of warm imagery and having something to live for.
Tom Crean. A man's man. I'm not keen on his name being used in Ads, but it was well done, and as said, raises his profile to a new generation. The word Hero has been eroded so much by media and the US habit of every second person being called hero. Tom was a true hero from the heroic age.
What six no-marks disliked this? Tom Crean was an extraordinary man from a very ordinary background. He deserves every bit of recognition he gets, even if it's a Guinness ad!! Read about him or go to the one-man play about him or watch the documentaries about him, for God's sake, you morons!
Somebody needs to make a film about this amazing man and his extraordinary life but they need to do it soon before Fassbender gets too old to play him. Lenny Abrahamson, are you listening???
The greatest Kerry Person of all time. Oh the days of the Kerry Dancing oh the ring of the pipers tune, oh for one of those hours of gladness, in Aunnascaul at the pub with you.
"So it fell to my lot to do the 30 miles for help, and only a couple of biscuits and a stick of chocolate to do it. Well, sir, I was very weak when I reached the pub."
The pub is John Kavanaghs (aka The Gravediggers) in Glasnevin on Dublin's north side. I know this, because I work there. The exterior was filmed on a house two doors down from the pub. It's the same pub that was used in the Schillacci Smithwick's ads, et al.
Its called the Kerry Dances "Oh, the days of the Kerry dancing Oh, the ring of the piper's tune Oh, for one of those hours of gladness Gone, alas, like our youth, too soon!"
The best ad Guinness have ever made by my opinion. And,I believe I'm right in saying, that Tom Crean was played by the darling Alan Devine in this ad. Tom Crean is an absolute epic man,and I take my hat off to him.(I'm wearing a hat by the way.)
You are right there was no Irish navy then but there was an Irish Movement orginizations such as Conradh na Gaeilge, the GAA and the IRB. Tom was in the British Navy (armed forces) until 1920. Monumental times you'll agree. If he'd been sent to shell the GPO in 1916 he'd have done so!!!
@grryos Half of the Irish Volunteers (including Tom Barry) and all of the National Volunteers were also in the British Forces at some point or another. Doesn't mean they weren't patriotic towards Ireland!
cool facts in this tom creann is awsome! Thats his real bar he had in kerry been ther eits unreal! and at 1:08 that guys ral name is mac daire deery and also tom in that is louie from fair city :D
Apparently the Black and Tans raided his gaf during the Rising. When they seen the Queens medals in his cabinet they shat themselves and left immediately.

Proud to call this man my relative
One of our greatest heroes and still not done justice.
this for some reasons reminds me of trekking home after a night out when i've spent all my taxi money on drink
Somebody needs to make a film about this amazing man and his extraordinary life but they need to do it soon before Fassbender gets too old to play him.
Lenny Abrahamson, are you listening???
I thought the exact same thing!
Me and my friends were just talking about this, it’s not too late!
'Shackleton' is in production I think with Tom Hardy as lead.
What a legend. Greatest ad ever. I love the sound of the ice cave creaking....
Wow that's amazing! He was a great man. I recommend people read Capt Scott's diary of the expedition. First hand account of the whole adventure!
I Whent to his pub, I loved it, I love learning about Tom Crean

This was running on ITV when I studied abroad in Ireland. It gives me goosebumps. :)
I know it's just a marketting campaign but they nailed me!
For anyone interested, the song he is singing -> John McCormack -The Kerry dance.

Here here. A giant of a man. And modest as the day.
This is the life of an incredible man. More people should know about his life.
If Carlsberg did tv ads!!! they still wouldn't be this good
If Carlsberg did Polar Explorers... Crean is a legend ... If Scott had taken him to the South Pole ... they’d probably have made it ☘️
@@bouncer2005
