- Don't know how I missed re-uploading this when I built this channel....but here they are, some old, ancient, and rare HBO graphics and previews from late 1977!! Even has the old, old "PG" rating that preceded a movie, at the beginning!!!
I love these graphics. I was born in '77.
Retro Man Mike So you're 40?
I was born in 1977 too, but I never had HBO until mid-to-late 1985 when my family and I moved from Maryland to New Jersey. These graphics were quite colorful, and still are.

Wow....Black Christmas being billed as "Stranger in the House". That's a find! Thanks for posting.

This was the life. If you had HBO back then and a Betamax to record the movies while you were sleep to watch later. Because a lot of the really good movies came on late night.
When the HBO logo first appeared in '75, it was rendered in yellow (with the "HOME BOX OFFICE FROM TIME/LIFE" byline at the bottom).
I love seeing the early HBO logo with the "O" covering the "B" slightly.
Same, I have a shirt with that logo on it!
Too bad this isn't Facebook, I'd love to see a pic!
Elvis Presley was still alive, when these were shown!
Well, if that's the case, these have to have aired before August 16th.
June 1977 promos because Stranger in the House premiered 6/24/77
I think these were recorded 6/18/77, I could be wrong
The PG movie aired on this date with either Drive-in or Silent Movie
@@devinnytroysmediacorner You are right because according to the HBO Guide, Animals are Beautiful People is coming up on 6/19/1977 at 3:00pm est
I miss that preview on HBO back in 1977. 2 years before I was born.
So, this was how HBO's on-air look was like in '76?
Yes. I'm only 13, but I think this was HBO's on-air look back in the 70s.
@@BenKirb Ah, yes; Eric Forman era H-Bo
0:53 And sadly his last.
Wow! They called ‘Black Christmas’ ‘Stranger in the House’. Never heard it called that before.

3 film reels in red, yellow and blue.
BTW I'm watching in 2018
I think I heard my mother telling me about this era of HBO when she was a teen residing in my city... 😕
Recorded in June 18, 1977
I was 10 years old when this was on HBO
Wow! That's Cool, Dave!
This is the same day as Jimmy Carter's inauguration is the 39th president of the United States
Yes
Nope. They are from June of 1977, not January of 1977.
@@glennmillerfan oh.
*6 months after Carter's inauguration
@@ilmamartinez522 Almost 6 months actually. The six month anniversary would have been July 20, 1976. Six months before June of 1977 would have been December of 1976.

I think the bump with the projector wheels was leftover from 1976 along with the "Great Entertainment Alternative" slogan.

HBO was something special back in the day
I first got it in July 1988 and it was indeed magical and considered a major privledge to have the channel in your home back then. I remember feeling lucky because not everyone even had cable at that point and some people had cable but not HBO.
Love this❤

When exactly did these promos air? I know they're from 1977.
I think they are from May of 1977, the same month that Star Wars premiered.
glennmillerfan in theaters
Based on this, looks to be June 1977

Tyler Nersinger Yes. Star Wars wasn’t shown on TV until 1981 and wasn’t released on VHS or Betamax until late 1984 or early 1985, as my mom remembers Star Wars Episodes 4 and 5 being new releases on Beta and VHS at the local video store when she and my father purchased their first VCR.

HBO says pan rights huh
