Thank you for this beautiful edit. At first watch, I straight up hated JunBai and each and every JunBai apologist too 😅. But as I thought more about this amazing series I recognised what the writers, with a BL mindset, were trying to say with his character about masculinity, which is actually quite deep. On further reflection, I have come to recognise JunBai as one of those rich and powerful men who thinks he has finally got the chance to “acquire” the trophy wife/husband he has always desired - physically and emotionally. But he wants TangChun on his own terms and on his own terms only, which are distorted by his identification with power and wealth but also distorted by the impact of his murderous past on his psychology. What he should have done when he realised who TangChun is, he should have been on his knees begging his forgiveness and offering to give him up if TangChun couldn’t get past their horrendous history. He could even say Third Uncle made him do it. But hegemonic masculinity is as hegemonic masculinity does - don’t apologise, don’t show weakness, preserve power at all costs, even if it means you lose the thing you value most in the world without which your life is not worth living. It is YueLou’s childhood trauma leading to his “emotional disease” that is highlighted in this drama, but actually all four men’s different but equally impactful childhood traumas, which involved them all losing their parents and being child orphans, determins the kind of adults they become. Yet, it was YouLou who was able to self-reflect about his past and how it affects his current patterns of behaviour. He chose to become a different kind of man when he had the opportunity to meet the love of his life, opening up a whole new world of relationships, possibilities and yes - vulnerabilities. So these writers have actually drawn a fascinating quartet of deeply layered, realistically human and fascinating characters whose motivations and perspectives on life and love we understand and can relate to. That is why we all can’t move on 💕
@@Supermodel2020 Hey thank you! This writer and these amazing actors have inspired us all. Can wait see Mao ZiJun in his next BL, the Story of the Bat which has already finished filming. Hope China won’t be too harsh with them in light of the new restrictions on “sissy pants” depictions of men on tv 😕
Two actors were able to see an insight into their past. Both are tragic. It was only sad while one of them could share his pain because he trusted his partner, the other carried the pain within himself because he did not trust his partner (which they understood perfectly). Maybe that's why he got terminally ill ...? The moment he finds out who the real killer is ... I was destroyed with him. 😓😞😢
"will never get over this series ever" lmao same anywaaaaays jun bai being toooo attractive shooting the mom at 1:00 is something that i think about a lot 😳
They would have been a nice couple if Zhan Junbai hadn't been a cold-blooded murderous villain and hadn't killed Fu Cheng's family ... Nevertheless, I saw that Zhan Junbai loved Fu Cheng, no matter how evil he was. The one I really regretted in this series is Fu Cheng. He had his most tragic past and destiny. There is little consolation in ending his own life. He deserved better.
A bit confusing, but the most tragic .. Was there love or affection between them ...? Although everything might have turned out differently if Zhan Junbai had not been a murderous villain!
They were my favorite couple in the drama.
they are currently my wallpaper lol, I am having such a hard time moving on
