An amazingly thorough review! Very well done, Kansas! Certainly answered the questions I had. Loving that it's waterproof. This does sound like something well worth putting in our preps. Thanks for bringing these to my attention and for the wonderful review! Very much appreciated, Kansas. As always, praying for you and your family. How are things going for you, in general? Where I am the prices in the stores are crazy and the price of gas is ridiculous! $2.07 for a litre of gas. That works out to $7.84 per gallon. It hasn't stopped me from getting to where I HAVE to go, and it hasn't stopped me from doing the things I HAVE to do, but there certainly isn't any unnecessary driving going on with me. On another topic, can't find any freedom seeds for my particular kind of bang-bang. And if by chance you can find a very small amount, the price is beyond ridiculous. I guess Mr. Trudeau is scared of something and maybe is beginning to realize that we are better armed than he and the world thinks. Perhaps. Anyway, Mr. Trudeau has now had the big CV19 a total of 5 times and he seems to always come down with it at the most "convenient" times (to avoid coming out and answering questions!). The world is crazy and getting crazier with each passing day. I smiled at someone the other day when I was in a business place and the lady went ballistic. She said, "What was that look for?" I replied, "That was a smile. Remember those?" People have lost it. Totally lost it. Anyway, I think those are the highlights from here. I'm thinking about buying a shotg**, as the freedom seeds for those seem to be a little bit more accessible so far. What would be your thoughts on that, Kansas? Any advice? (You can email if you like.) Hey, how's that grandson of your's doing?? Say hello to Mrs. KP. God bless!!
IMPORTANT! Many people complain about problems when trying to communicate with the Walkie through the "RT29 RadioSoft" software... One way to avoid communication errors with the Retevis RT29 is to remove the antenna before connecting it ... Without the antenna the upload/dowload runs smoothly.
Good review. The RT29 is a great radio... I recommend them to all my prepping friends. When you use the programming software (free download, but you need to buy the cable) you can change a lot of the radios features and it has several voice inversion/scrambler codes. Also, the VHF spectrum is better in the outdoors...
Thanks for the info share. Yes I have two of them and the cable and charging bases . I use Mac and Windows but have not bothered with the software yet. I need to download it.
One thing to remember that I cut and paste from their website: Just keep in mind, though, that you will need to procure yourself a license to operate this kind of radio. Since these radios are not FRS, GMRS, or MURS radios, you will need a tech class ham license or a commercial license to operate these two-way radios. For more information regarding this, you can click here. One other thing that would be nice to see is what frequencies are these programmed with? Rugged Radios got in a world of trouble for selling pre-programmed radios that had fire and safety channels plugged in which is a great way to get fined.
Thank you for the heads up!!! Yes a license is need, though the company told me that NO license was needed to operate. Well not according to the FCC. So, again thank you for bringing this to my attention. I am NOT into radios. Have a great day and again, thanks.
Thanks for your review of the Retevis RT29, question for you. I can't get my old RT19 walkies to communicate with these new RT29. I didn't know if you had any ideas on how to get them synced with each other. Thanks
I am sorry I honestly don’t know, I know in a windows pc there is software from Retevis, it might do the connecting but you would need to email the company to find out for sure. 👊🏻🇺🇸
Do you have the RT29 VHF version available? And if yes, are you able to read from it and write to it using the Retevis programming software? I have both UHF and VHF versions of the RT29 here, but so far have not been able to read from/write to the VHF version (2 radios). The UHF version works fine with the factory programming software.
Good review. So, what's your thoughts on the large cattle die off up there! Never saw anything like that when I lived in Kansas, and we've had hot weather before!
I don’t believe it, no way that would happen, we have had hotter weather and that never happens. I think it was a set up. To reduce beef 🥩 for whatever their reasons. 👊🏻🇺🇸

Feeling the need to increase the comms thank you for doing this.

Thanks for this K.P. This could be very helpful!

If you have the same version they are programmed the same from the factory. So yes they will work together.
They're UHF or VHF only. Separate models. Thanks.
Anything to comment about the ten watts?
Great review KP.

I have the VHF version and I don’t use any software and I don’t program it because I don’t use windows. It works fine the way it is.
Good review , thanks for sharing , God bless !

I was just trying to find my CB to hook up in my truck .. what about satellites phones?
The satellite phone is expensive, why not try to use a high-power mobile radio?
How does this compare to the NR30?
I am sorry I have no idea. Thanks for watching!
Do you have the uhf or the vhf model?
2 miles is roughly 3000 meters right?
Yep 3,218 meters. Good call lol
