I want an old can-am spider to rip all the electronic junk out and install a carburetor. I want rid of all the electronic crap that causes trouble. I would like to keep the ABS and cruise but that is all. Do they actually need power steering? If the timing advance runs through the computer that might be a problem. Also gear shifting might be a problem I'm considering building one from a very small front wheel drive car. I have a machine shop and plenty of time

No CB radios from BRP, or any other manufacturer, as far as I know... BRP had one available from 2010 to 2017 for the pre-2018 RT's, but has been discontinued. I'm pretty sure that cruise is standard on all Spyder RT's..? BRP does not offer a model with all the accessories pre-installed. The highest level Spyder is the RT-SPE "Sea-to-Sky", but it too has lots of optional add-ons available... Thanks George!!
Hi Shaun. I am a recent subscriber to your channel mainly because I just purchased my new (to me) 2016 Spyder RT Limited. I have a couple questions for you. I converted my ride from my 2016 GoldWing ABS to the Spyder and because it is new to me, I was wondering if you could shed some light on the gear changes of the Spyder. As you probably know, the GoldWing ran super smooth and the only noticeable gear shift was from 1st to 2nd. I find the Spyder kinda klunky in comparison and sometimes it even hesitates between gears while shifting up (kinda like when you let the clutch out and then it catches into the next gear). I was wondering if you could advise if that is “normal” for the bike or is it something I should have looked at. I do love my new ride but I want to make sure I keep up maintenance on it as well. Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks. Darrell

It's different from state-to-state... Washington and Oregon requires a Trike licence. A motorcycle endorsement is not required, but all the rules apply such as helmet, etc... Thanks Nick
It is lamanted by some HAM's and a crap-ton of non-hams that the usability and adaptability of HAM gear for mobile applications hasn't really kept up with technology. The HAM community is shrinking, why the concerns of the non-hams should be listened to is because they are the ones who will keep it alive or let die by their level of participation. Make sure you ride them both, as they feel and handle quite differently. Thing of the F3-LTD as a Sport Cruiser Touring and the RT-LTD as Full-Comfort Long Haul Touring... Thanks Heather!

You have an auxiliary input I would use that for the xm radio

All out blue knights club have them and it’s how we communicate on a ride with 15+ bikes. No Senna will do that.

just ordered an 2018 RT Limited and would like to prevent rock chips as much as possible, have you seen anyone have XPEL applied to the front end ?
parishm go to show chrome. They have a part that fits under front for Rock chips.
We have HAM radios that operate somewhat like phones.

What kind of gas mileage do the spiders get? Someone said not good. Is that true.
I have a 2015 RTS and the best gas mileage I have seen so far is 52.5 MPG (imperial gal.)
Cool, I had heard in the 20's which would have been terrible for a bike. I get like 42-45 on my 14 HD Ultra Ltd.
52.5 is riding 2 up at Hwy. speed. From Radium Hot Springs B.C. to Calgary AB.
Normally they get between 32-45 mpg, depending on how you ride them. Freeway mileage will take you down to the low 30's
