I am trying one more long format video, if this doesn’t get interaction (likes, and comments on this video) I will probably switch to shorts only, or tiktok

We have seen this footage already though ? Instead of quantity over quality if you want more interaction then focus on why you choose these rocks and getting across the feelings you associate with collecting/knapping them. There are plenty of knapping tutorials on here , very crowded. Not many go into the history of obscure workable stones and why they may have been used and who used them and what for . You have a great opportunity to let your audience experience some of what you feel when collecting this rock . I refer to that post about explaining why you favour creek rock and not buying rock . This is your selling point , take quality time to develop that . Ditch clickbait,#boejogan, repeated mash ups and focus on your passion. Good luck man , i wish you all the best ,your deserve to get some recognition for the work you do . Perhaps your insight into tool stone types in your area will become a valuable reference in the near future if not already

I dont know how to remove the #joerogan I did it on one video after he talked on his podcast about knapping and now its put it into everything and I dont see it on my end or in my tags list. no freaken clue lol

about the mashups...... if youtube only shows its to my core audience (which is about 80 people, rough estimate) If they dont interact, it doesnt get pushed to new audience. so In my experimenting with "mashups" and different upload times of same content, ive seen my view on specific videos go from 200 views, all the way up to somewhere around 250,000 views (over time) where as the "core audience views" of around 80-200 it sits dead forever, the video never advances or gets shown EVER again.....
Still learning, thats not a hard a rule, its not always like that..... sometimes it just will absolutely NOT show anybody, such as almost all of a the vermont, new hampshire footage. It just wont push it no matter what i do, upload times, interaction..... it just doesnt matter, youtube says "NO"

Way to go Jay! Such beautiful bands on that stone. I wouldn't of had the heart to throw that stone! Just haft it on a dart, and just used it Fer display. To beautiful to break it. I'm glad it didn't break on you.

Do you ever do any heat treating before knapping?

Aww man i love the long form videos but i understand that shorts get more attention. Love your content

If you make no more longform please continue to do shorts! I know you have the potential to do very well on there and I enjoy your stuff. If you can edit your shorts correctly they'll do even better.

Hey, I have a suggestion for you. Have you ever considered heat treating the rhyolite before you work it, or have you ever tried using bipolar percussion with an anvil.? I find that it works wonders with really tough stones that are hard to open using hammers. Concord old percussion is good with stones that are already open but I have found that bipolar percussion using an amble is almost full proof opening tough stones. One of the archaeological sites I have frequented, I found a lot of hammerstones and several anvils

I was just literally outside trying bipolar on the rhyolite LOL. it worked but it also exploded it an even amount

@@Wildernessquestoutdoors my friend, you are in luck, because I am a lithics research nerd. I have tried different kinds of hammerstones, anvil stones, and different shapes as well. There is a trick to bipolar percussion and it is using the right kind of anvil, the right shape, and density, Hammerstone, and getting the material you want to split at precisely the right angle. You also need to remove at least one of the ends of the stone you are splitting. It makes it more predictable and controllable without exploding it into a lot of flakes or fracturing it on two planes
