definitely Hall, I'll save a few Catalina but it's late in the season for them so I'll be curious to see how they taste. the handful I have left are starting to fall on their own which means they are at the end of the season...but yes they're will still be some to find...especially with your wife's eagle eye.

Have you tried turning avocado into a yogurt type consistency with lemon juice and sugar? It was the only way people ate it in Mozambique. It was my favorite fruit, not added to food like nowadays. I would eat a whole bowl full. Thank you for sharing, brother.

It's not up to me or the customers, it's up to Mother Nature depending on what month it is. How do you eat the Avocado? I know it is common for Mexican community to make Guacamole. In South East Asia they eat Avocado by mixing them (by blender normally) with Condensed milk or chocolate condensed milk, yes it is a dessert.
A new 3 pound Avocado Fruit in California is excellent it's very round with a little ridging ,taste better than a Marcus pumpkin, the new one is called Cannonball, needs long hang time can go down to about 29-30 degrees for short duration

My young (one 3ft tall, one 6ft tall) Brogden and Florida Hass avocado trees have developed what I think is sooty mold (a charred-appearance on the green part of the trunk that rubs off with a damp cloth) and it seems to have stunted their growth. The Florida Hass even shed all of its leaves except for a few branches-worth. I’m in the Tampa Bay area. Was wondering what you recommended to treat this problem.

My nascent dozen types of 3 yr old yard avo collection provided very 1st ever fruit to maturity just recently, hand full of Zutanos which have such thin skin, not easy to peel so I've been eating the skin with the fruit, barely even notice it. Is eating the skin common on some types?
We have 100% Hass Avocados in Switzerland. I looked wide and far and we absolutely never have any other sort. It‘s impossible to get them. But whenever I check your website out, it says „sold out“ on all avocados. 😢 plus I don‘t know if they would survive crossing the ocean. I would like to grow them here locally

you mean to gain a kilo of weight? Let's see: 40 calories per ounce of avocado. 3600 calories = 1 lb of human fat so were talking maybe 12 pounds of avocado? So if you ate 4 of these Choquette you'd gain a kilo of weight.

Maybe it's a northern CA thing but we like to spread a little Best Foods Mayonnaise and salt, that's it. The only time I like that is if I'm alone or if I'm with somebody.
I am not sure but here in South Africa I think we do get the "Choquette" Variety in our southern province called Natal. We call them Natal Avo's and some of us call it the Butter Avo because of the colour and texture. But funny enough in the Northern Province "Gauteng" we do not see these avos at all. We only get the Haas Variety and perhaps another type I am not sure the species name but it's slightly bigger than Haas , looks almost like a pear shape. Funny how avos simply don't grow in certain regions.
I have a question. Are you only farming in Fruit Baring Produce or are you also branched out into other kinds of crops. Eg I have been watching another YT channel called Utmost Precision where they are growing Avos in Kenya. The Lady there has also branched out into the latest gold rush "Snail Farming" , Snail Farming in Africa is becoming a huge thing that is making some farmers rather wealthy. It really bugged me when he put salt and pepper on the avocado coz in my country we go the sweet route and not the savoury one. We mash it, put sugar in it and eat it with a variety of other foods. Like spread it on bread, or dip a boiled sweet potato or cassava in it. Its heavenly.

the best way to know when to eat them is when they are uniformly soft around the entire fruit....this occurs 7-10 days from when I pick it off the tree.

Choquette is very vigorous and a regular producer. We harvest them in September/October but you can leave them on the tree later if you want.

yep but the fruit of this variety is so large you'll need the tree to grow big to support the weight so the bigger the pot the better.

Hi Eddie, yes avocados grow in San Diego. Any fruit tree nursery or garden center or even Home Depot should have grafted avocado trees for you.

David, I'd go with a Simmonds/Monroe combo. You get early and late with an A/B mix and delicious flavor and great production.

yep, but for this variety you need a big tree to supper the weight of the fruit which means you need a huge pot. 25 gallon or bigger.

Scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest, how much did it bug you?

In Africa I learned to slap certain fruits with the side of a big knife, and hear a dull hollow sound, but avocados and others was by the cold of the peel. But I know nothing about this thing. Lol

the best way to know when to eat them is when they are uniformly soft around the entire fruit....this occurs 7-10 days from when I pick it off the tree.
