Such a fun project! Glad I could share some insight!
Suuuuuuper appreciate all the expertise you gave me. You absolutely helped me get pointed in the right direction on this project. Ur a legend!
This is crazy, love it. What a small world! Or I could just be spending way to much time on UA-cam? Nah....
My 2 fav youtubers working together 🥺❤
Gigantic Fan Chris, Have every deck you've ever made and your first puzzle. Seen every video. Was so happy Ten Hun linked up with you for this..I knew you would be so gracious and it makes me so excited for these cards.
Good Stuff Chris
TEN HUN, for the ace of spades - you could do the spade negative and have the collage style AROUND the spade. knaw'mean!?
Awesome idea!!
I love this idea!
😍
I love this idea. Another one is to make it a landscape with one boss-vibe character looming over it... like a dragon.
I like that idea. I also really the jack of hearts with the “bandana” covering the eye. Makes it more obvious that he is one-eyed. Also, one of the suites need to be all animals (cats, dogs, bunnies)
those are some damn fine playing cards son!
Thanks so much bro!
So, how about it? Oil painted card set? *wink
the jacks should have the same color faces as the kings and queens so hearts all have blue faces and clubs all have peach faces - would make each group be more cohesive if they match and easier to identify visually
that's what I was thinking too. hope he sees this.
Especially when he adds 6 more characters in.. it would be easier to look at the face colors. Sure the ♡♧ are visible but they don't pop nearly as much as the faces do.
I like that there is greater diversity in the skintones of the face cards… makes them a bit more relatable and representative of how far we have come as a whole
@@hailsontherocks you beat me to it
Yes!! I was just gonna comment thissss
The uncut cards seems very interesting, to me, someone who would never buy cards, I would buy the uncut cards as art.
Yes, best way to display the art.
I would like to put it in a two way frame so you could flip it to see both sides.
Came looking for this comment. Hope this is an option when they’re up for grabs
@@robokeo Yes!!!
@@miriam9419 exactly what I was thinking!😍
You could get two packs and frame them to see both sides. Might be impossible cause all tenhundred stuff sells out so quickly. ✌🏾✌🏻✌️✌🏿🥳🥳
That King of Clubs is unreeeeal. Definitely keep the portrait style, symmetrical stuff just makes them too small and loses all the nice details
Keep them “Portrait”.They are the individual art pieces you were initially going for. Making them symmetrical would just be making a deck of cards.Having them playable is the bonus :)
Humility is the willingness to continue learning... and I am super impressed that you listened to so many ideas, consulted with a playing card design specialist, and improved the artwork. Brilliant! I love where this is going.
just a thought- what if each suit had their own skin tone. Spades orange- hearts teal...anyway you see it. It will add more cohesiveness
I second this. It will help keep the color palette the same across the whole project, but help separate the “kingdoms” so you know at a quick glance which suit you’re looking at.
I have seen this comment a lot so I think a lot of people are with you on this idea.
Totally agree - last video I suggested making a 4 colored deck since works lovely for card players.
Maybe for the ace of spade invert the drawing…so the characters are the background and the spade itself is blank…making it different from the other three aces
I love this idea!
Heck yeah
Maybe the spade itself is black. Ohhh so good
Can't wait to see your Joker cards.
yeah thats what I was thinking too :D I mean Jokers in a normal card Game are already crazy XD
Same!
Maybe the Jokers could be himself and his wife
Ohhh yessss
The cards are officially launched on Kickstarter! www.kickstarter.com/projects/tenhundred/vivid-kingdoms-playing-cards/rewards
Go subscribe to Chris Ramsay, or I will use low-res, stock images of United States Senators as the face images for all these cards! ua-cam.com/users/MrTricksforfun
Noooo! Subbed to Chris!
Buah hahahahaaaaaa! How dare you!
J❤ In portrait 👍🏾💙
Don't forget the Jokers.
Maybe a self portrait for them
Bro we would watch you for two days and 45 minutes. Straight. We love you!
A cool Outro screen would be taking all the cards and showing them like you did before in the video and having grayed out spaces of how many cards Are left to do.
Nice idea! I second this one!
WTAF! This is a collab I would have NEVER guessed. As a magician into street art, this is like my dream crossover 😮 Chris is god damn amazing!
Ace card would def look cool on a t-shirt for sure
Oh yess such a good idea
Seconded!!
I really like what I’m seeing. But there is one thing I think you need to look into some more and that is that you need to think of the colours/patterns of the different suits. I want to see at a short glance that they belong together so for an example, I reckon you should have the same skin colour for each suit and the same goes for patterns, really loved the king of clubs patterns, you should reuse them for the queen and jack!
I mean, people make up cards that are straight black and white, or other colors, or even mono-colors with all symbols. I feel it will be fine in an art deck.
@w I think Robin meant that each "kingdom" or group has their own skin colour. Not that aaall of them has to have the same skin color :) If he switches the skin color of the jacks, then they already are easier to separate from echoer. One group has teal skin color and the other one has peach.
@@celaya-s4e151 yes, you are correct! Poor wording, my bad!
the back of the cards that the queen of clubs is holding should be the same as the official deck backing. just an idea
LOVE THIS IDEA!
That would just add that extra level or detail.
She's holding a standard bicycle deck
@@dalesenior7255
Yes but wouldn’t it be cool if she was holding the back of the deck he just designed!?
this project is so much fun! I really like the idea of splitting it into different episodes. This is cool! Makes me want to see the other videos… good job!
Peter this is turning out super rad. My two cents. I feel just having sth other than the pips to distinguish between the 4 suits would enhance the deck, given that the color palate and background is very identical across all the suits. A simple solution could be to pick a unique distinguishing color for each suit, and use that color in both the pips and to outline your figure. That would immediately make the arts pop out even more as well as easily differentiate between the 04 different suits.
Also, do you have any project maybe to celebrate the Olympics? A new print or skateboard deck perhaps?
I live this idea.
A thin outline would also look great!!!
I really like the full character for the art, but I like the symmetrical design for playability. What if the background was black for spades and clubs and red for diamonds and hearts?
Advice from an Interactions Designer professional: prototyping, prototyping, prototyping! Peter, fail fast and iterate. One trick that I love when designing physical objects is to use 3D representations.
So design just the back of the card and use Blender 3D to make a quick deck of cards to see if the alignments are good. It's simple you only need to change the UV mapping image and done! It's 2021 and Blender is an open-source 3D software and an amazing tool that will bring your creative process to a new level.
Respect 🌿
Second that, as well as printing the cards at home early to feel out the playability and cohesiveness.
(If you are not familiar with Blender and don’t want to learn it, there are tons of Fiverr artists for it as well)
@@miss_smaragd Definitelly! I think that If your are designing something that is physical, get it to of the digital spectrum as soon as possible to test it. Design is an iterative practice.
Pips and indices should be the same size and position on each of the cards so when you fan them to show just the numbers they're all evenly spaced. Looking so dope tho! King of clubs is bleeding over the top and bottom and into cheaters' territory tho
So warming to see people helping other people. Chris is such a good guy.
Personally I feel that the flipped/mirrored characters would be great for those actually wanting to play the cards. The full character not flipped/mirrored would be epic for uncut sheets of every card for framed art. In my opinion of course
I liked the symmetrical faces, the art wasn’t cut off and with your style it felt like a cool explosion of art from the center of a card.
If you’re not continuing with the symmetrical pieces, they can be a kickstarter goodie!
That would be cool!
Ten Hun + Chris Ramsay? SIGN ME UP! Those are looking incredible man!!
I have been a silent observer of your journey for a very long time. As a 51 year seasoned artist, I enjoy watching your evolution and journey in life. Kind of personally proud of you actually, as your viewers get to feel like we “know you”. I am here to say you have REALLY stepped it up on this one. I feel that even your production was kicked up a notch! This surge of inspiration has elevated your entire creative world and it shows even in the subtleties. Well done! I will continue to follow and enjoy your content and your journey! Cheers to you and all life has to offer. Again, well done! Just a note of fondness from a mystery viewer ;)
give each suite a slightly different color palette to make them stand out more easily. think of the suits as different kingdoms.
Love how deeply invested and detailed you are being. Thinking out side the box but becoming knowledge about the playability itself. I think the end result is going to be mind blowing!
Might wanna make the pips same size as well just cause it'll be wierd if one side is larger than the other
Getting my bank account ready for a hit when these drop! I think the portrait is the way to go! Keep droppin that heat!🔥🔥🔥🔥
A bunch of people have mentioned this as well but I like the idea of having each set of face cards have the same skin colour. It would make it easier to tell them apart at a quick glance
The cards are looking sweet! One small note of feedback/request - my eyes want the right angle corners of your inner black fill to be rounded a just little. 🙏
You should pick your favorite card to have that queen “revealing” so it can be used in magic tricks as well.
And the back design should be a pattern of the “see-ers”
Mate these cards are so so bomb 🔥🔥🔥🔥 a cool idea I thought of that you can add, is to do a card reveal on the queen of clubs, I saw that she is holding a bunch of cards, so one of them could be flipped over and be a card reveal, obviously to whatever card you want to make it.like it would be a super cool for like a magic effect. Just thought I’d share that with you. I’m super invested in this series I can’t wait to see what you make of this. So excited mate. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
make rounded corners at background (in size what will fit with card corners)
Reqlly curious how the number cards will turn out. How exciting! These are so epic
What if you reversed the art on the Ace's and made the negative space the suit and the mashup art on the outside. That way there is more of your art on the card? Love your work!
Could be a cool idea for the ace of spades!
I really love the symmetrical design, the way the two sides mesh reminds me of Escher
I like the symmetrical version! Will definitely make it easier for play. But either way super sick!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Portrait Style is a must in my opinion so that players can feel the full effect of your art. A deck of cards is a deck of cards; however your art speaks to the players.
I agree with a few others that matching skin tones for each suit would probably be a great idea ( I think the only ones that would need to be swapped are Jacks). This is an exciting project, and I can't wait to see what you do next!
The absolute best thing about the UA-cam art community is the amount of mentions of other artists. I am subscribing back to back to new people I am sooo glad I found you Ten 💯 ❤️ much love from a struggling artist
Love the symmetric design just looks so cool and both have slight differences makes even better, I have always been one to love a good spot the difference/ I spy challenge :p but whatever you decide in the end I know they gonna look amazing ❤️
You really are a one of a kind UA-camr. The colab painting, this. Hell yeah dude
I like the portrait style with the wrapped eye, patched eye looks dope too though
Love it 😍 I love the symmetric card with the flipped character. That's hot and the access are fire 🔥🔥🔥
Idea for the other one-eyed Jack. Make him a legitimate Cyclops.
Yeah!
I liked the symmetrical versions much better, sure it's a bit busy - but it's that depth to the art that is really lovely to see~
Your work is absolutely amazing!
There is some small things that I want to point out so that your playing card can be more playable. The upper pip of playing card should be the same size of the pip under so that it can be spread in your hand easier (to see). should be small.
If you want all your Ace huge and incredible in the same size, just go for it. there are plenty of playing cards did it and it's still cool.
Oh, about the brick box. It's can have half brick (6 decks) and brick box (12 decks) in your own art style. Some of us love to collect it too.
Hope he sees this, the different sized pips were really bothering me haha
Decks, uncut sheets, and full sized prints!!! These are dope and deserve the opportunity to show off all the glorious details!
All the "ACES" should be a TEN HUN ACE COLLECTION of apparel ;)
Heck, all the royalty too!! Those kings and queens are amazing!!!!
Posters would be awesome as well
Yesssssssss, so excited that you ended up actually working w/ Chris Ramsay like I (and apparently many others!) suggested!
Ten hun I hope you see this but I just wanted to thank you for a huge inspiration. You’ve inspired me to make art that I hope to sell and to make sick art like you and others, I got into you through slew and I’m so glad I’m relatively new here cause I got so many sick ten hun content to binge thank you all the way over from Perth Australia cannot wait to see the finished deck
Great adjustments! Keep with portrait... The other adjustments you made handles everything I saw. Chris Ramsay definitely dropped good knowledge on you!
watching ten hun always makes me inspired to do more art
I...LOVE...the symmetrical face card at 10:12. LOVE it. They both look stunning but I think the symmetrical one facing both directions is really great. I especially like the fact that the top Jack has a bandage over one eye and the bottom one has a patch. Killer.
So glad you reached out to Chris, I'm getting more and more excited bout this project! I kinda like the symmetrical design as a card collector, but the art does pop more in the portrait style. Whatever you do, I'm sure it'll be great!
Absolutely Sick idea, art and video!!
I love what you've done so far! I think the portrait is the way to go. The options for Kickstarter will be awesome, I'm sure, and I'll be buying it all!
Great to see question time with Chris 😀
Your king of hearts could have had a mustache bro, but cool you're paying homage haha
Please make these available so everyone can have them. You have been one of my favorite content creators and artist in general. The thought of getting some of your art almost makes me cry man. Much love.
Make the spades a 'watcher' suit instead.
here is my two- pennorth.... navy background and NO!!! to the half and half - the full sized images are so good! So pleased you got some good advice from the guy - I think a full sheet framed is going to be Awesome! xxx
Not gonna lie, that symmetrical jack is freaking sweet.
I am so excited that you spoke to Chris. I watch his stuff all the time and never thought to mention him. So well done to your subs that thought to mention him.
I love all the changes you have made and especially love that you listened to the feedback. Absolute respect for doing that.
It would be nice if the color of the back were the color of the card, I mean, black background for the black cards and red for the red ones. You are doing it amazing mate! Keep going!
Do you mean the background or the other side of the card? Because if the backsides are not uniform, the deck is not playable.
@@frannyg1609 No mate, the background of the front side. The two triangles at the back of the drawings.
"100% better because of the way that we're approaching this as a COMMUNITY." Perfect description brother. Community. You don't always have to go at it alone. I love it.
Portrait!
the pips being visible from both sides makes the cards amazing
Symmetrical edition looks SICK!! Inception type clutter. Controlled chaos
Awesome collab - I LOVE Chris’ channel. His puzzle work is sick and I’m so happy you two linked up!
Okaaaay my mind is blown on the symmetry drawing setting. I must find it!!
Educational and awesome. Fantastic having Chris Ramsay. The cards are gorgeous. Thank you, Ten Hun! Blessings to you.
Yes loving this project so far, so cool to see the design process and how the project develops. So cool that Chris Ramsey is happy to lend his advise.
You are an inspiration.I really admire your positive mindset as an artist and also that you are so open to critism. My favorite art UA-camr
I think its awesome you listen and care what your fans opinions are and actually take notice to what we say. You're an amazing artist, person and now a dad. Thanks to Bobby the Duke Ima huge fan. Best of luck with your cards bro.
Some of the stretch goal idea's sound great!
that is art ... wickedly awesome 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
Literally the collab I’ve been waiting for since discovering Ten Hun a couple years ago!
Love the symmetrical Jack way more than the solo guy! The art is immaculate.
The cards are looking so awesome!
Thank u for the transparency,
especially with the feeling anxious when creating art, it is much appreciated.
I love when the artwork is symmetrical for playing purposes. Its easier to use instead of having to flip it right-side up every single time
Love the changes! Portrait is much better as art as long as you have the pips and indicators flipped on the bottom. Really like the black background with the thick white border.
The two suits look GREAT together! Super love the clun crowns
It’s really cool to see two of the channels I watch all the time, and are seemingly unrelated, come together! I love what you’ve got so far and looking forward to picking up a few decks!
Thank you so much for sharing and collaborating. This is really a wonderful project. 🖤
The dramatic replay of part 1 *chefs kiss*.
I’m laughing, impressed and excited all at the same time. ❤️
I love this project!
I grew up playing cards with my family all the time and card games have a special place in my heart.
I can't wait to see where this continues to go
I much prefer to portrait look and love that you are putting little hints towards the classic playing cards while still making it unique!
My two worlds coming together. Cardistry and Art. This is amazing
Nice invert on the black and white to make the clubs stand out.
you should make draw a "facing us" card in the hand of the queen of clubs, that could be used as a reveal for magic tricks :)
Looking amazing. I'm absolutely loving watching this journey!!!
This has probably been written down before in the comment section, but the numbers and the pips on the cards should be the same size, so you can fan them when playing! For the designs, there shouldn't be that much of an issue from them not being symetrical. Great work so far!
They are looking amazing. Great video!
Oh yeah as soon as these drop on kickstarter I'm coppin for sure
they are looking SO good! i like the black background much better like this. the stripe through makes it pop and kind of ties it in with the art. can't wait to see what the final product of these will look like!
Chris is here! I didn’t expect you guys to talk on the next video, I’m so happy. So many insights, learning so much today ♥️
