Hey mate love your vids been watching for a year or two. I live around lake mac and i’ve been trying to catch a bass around up in the hunter river but i’ve had no luck. Do you roughly have any recommendations for them around there
Hey Bruce thanks mate appreciate it. During the day like in this video they are hugged in tight to there snags so casting accuracy is important to get it right in there. If you aren’t snagging the odd lure then your not getting in deep enough. In the early morning, late arvo or at night I like to fish surface. You don’t need to be as accurate as the fish will move a bit more freely around the creek looking for a feed.
First time watcher and thoroughly enjoyed it. Good content mate. The young bloke is busting to catch a bass (so am I secretly). What rod and reel do you use/recommend. He already has a spinning reel and wants a baitcaster (yes I know harder to use).
Thanks mate. I’d reckon something around that 2-4 or 3-6kg rod range with a shorter rod length like 6ft or under. Long casts aren’t important, more about accuracy, plus you’ll find yourself with trees and branches over head where a shorter rod length can help you get casts into places a longer rod just won’t allow without hitting a tree. Recently purchased a Daiwa tatula 100h baitcaster with 12lb braid and its perfect for bass’n
Great video mate, quick question when fishing for bass in the Hunter river, do you fish the main river much or mainly the creeks and streams branching off of it?. Haven’t had much luck myself but new to fishing and kayaking 😂🤙
I’ve got to be broad when I say Hunter valley, I mean any river/creek that is apart of that system. This is so people aren’t going to go and smash that exact location, but I try to educate people that they are all throughtout the system. From the brackish around the terrace and even lower, to right up to the top of all the dams. Half the fun of bass fishing is going exploring, even after a good session like this I’m looking to go and explore a different spot 👍
Great video JT👍 Keep that honey hole tributary to yourself, looks loaded with them.
Mate just found your channel brilliant content.🇦🇺👍

@@jtsnewfish3877 yea ok thanks mate for the advice appreciate it.
Nice! Subbed from Eugene OREGON USA
Awesome, thanks mate 👍
My ask please what creek you are in
Mad sesh bro
Great video mate. Can’t say I’ve fished that creek yet and I live in Maitland. Only accessible by yak?
Thanks mate appreciate it 👍
It depends how wet you’re willing to get I guess 🤣
Hey mate, awesome vid, what weight class is ur rod
It’s 5-8kg this one, too heavy for most bass lures other than chatter baits.
I’ve since bought a 3-6kg rod, much better suited.
@@jtsnewfish3877 thanks JT
Are Bass good eating ??
I get mixed reports !!
Great vid !!
Thanks Peter.
I’ve never eaten one mate! Heard they’re not too bad, I just prefer to put them back 👍
Lots of other fish to eat leave the bass for the sport.
What Kayak have you got ??
Just a cheap kayaks2fish osprey
