That whole scene with falin seeing her brother in an awful state and instantly dropping everything to help him... And also her bringing random stuff she found to eat with marcille?! Did they really have to make me cry again? 😭
Awww I remember in the daydream hour art books ryoko mentioned laios always keeps himself neat with no long hair or facial hair since while they were in the caravan falin said laios looked like their dad and he immediately shaved and cut his hair lol

Wooooooooo!! We finally got to my FAVOURITE piece of foreshadowing payoff in the series! The gag of the dragon meat rolling away returning as the critical clue to helping Falin is just GENIUS. Writing a gag into a piece of major foreshadowing without lessening the joke or spoiling the reveal feels like something I just don't see very often.
SO happy season 2 is confirmed! As a manga reader it's an absolute joy to see how it's been adapted, and we're finally getting into the best parts of the story!
Overall it is a testament to how uncannily incredible Kui is at weaving together comedy and drama. They don't fight for attention, they support and enhance one another. The comedy derives from the drama, and the drama is enhanced by the comedy all throughout and that is why the story keeps getting better and funnier as it progresses. Truly a masterpiece.

season 1: We need to save my sister!
season 2: We need to eat my sister!
I was really curious where they would cut off this season, cause the manga is a pretty linear story and doesn't tend to do "arcs" so much as short story beats that can kinda be categorized (like pre- and post-dragon, or when Izutsumi joins.) . But this was actually the perfect way to end it. It 1: finished off the problem from the prev ep, 2: set up a little cliff hanger with the elves and other side characters, and 3: established the party's plan and end goal going forward. The next handful of chapters really start to pick up the pace in terms of plot, so it's good they didn't try to push any further ahead than this. I'm so excited for the next few monsters/story beats for a variety of reasons. Season two can't come soon enough!
(I'm pretty confident they could finish up nicely with one more two-core season)
I'm a bit sad they didn't show the canaries in action yet, but I get why and they will be great in season 2.

Im really satisfied of how it ended, we were left on a cliffhanger but at the same time we got enough

As someone entirely too obsessed with the manga, this is a pretty dang good breaking point for the first season. Season 1 was very well done overall, with just a few things I remember being cut from the manga, probably just to manage pacing. The English voice work was really stellar, with each actor giving a really impressive show of range even before the race switch. I'm super excited for S2, some absolutely bonkers things are in store!

Since she still has her intellect intact, and keeps some memories (like for example that Laios is her brother, even though she uses that to distract him in their fight). Im guessing Laios' words about eating monsters stuck with her, and she tried doing just that!
I really feel bad for Falin, she must be pretty hungry with such a huge body-
But she won't be hungry for long since season 2 was announced!

I'm glad they decided to add this new scene for some characterisation between Falin and Thistle
A lot of anime-only people will end up without the details, and possibly without the full picture by not reading the manga and it's extras. So this scene is a pleasant surprise
Plus, Falin is cute! I'll happily take any excuse for her to have a little more screentime!
I mean, I feel like in that moment it might've actually been Falin talking because just for that moment, The pupils changed from the Dragon's to hers, after all.
Throwaway dialogue? In dungeon meshi? Also one thing about the anime is that is manga readers also have no idea what it's voice sounds like... we very well could have heard him already...

yes! After a few episodes it got me thinking that perhaps it was him!
I think started hearing about the dungeon's weird layout back in the Golem episode, where they talk about how lucky it is when there's always a bathroom when they need it.
Something interesting about the scene with falin’s gifts to marcille is that the flowers look like they’re supposed to be lilies which in Japanese are yuri or the general term for girls love

You have no idea how the information of the dungeon shaping itself based on desire is going to come back in season 2. And it will come back with absolutely earth shattering reveals. This story is unbelievably good and I'm really glad it's getting a complete adaptation

Oh, everyone missed an important detail in this episode. Remember all the contrasting between Laios and Kabru and their attitudes towards people and monsters? Twice in this episode Laios imagined defeating Thistle without killing him.

I'm so psyched for the next season. I hope Studio Trigger and Netflix realize the huge popularity the show got and get season 2 turned around pretty quickly. Though, not at the cost of quality. Dungeon Meshi deserves every bit of time it takes, because every episode was a joy to watch.
Remember they managed to revive Falin from just bones after being eaten by a red dragon? They have to be really thorough to make sure there's as little dragon left on Falin's body as they can to succeed :E

In the manga it’s really obvious how much he winks at Laios lol, to the point that even Laios is confused by it, he's always been trying to rizz him up, although it is probably also an anxious reflex of his.
He's ready to do whatever it takes to win people's trust, and maybe he's winking at Laios because he doesn't know what works on him haha
I'm glad with the ending of this season setting up the main theme/plot for s2, can't wait to see how Trigger adapts the rest of the manga!

Gargoyles are decorations for rain gutters, they changed to different water fountains. Still alive even, the peeing baby still struggled a bit to get to Laios before setting for just trying to drown him.
Be careful with catching up to the manga to this episode, as this episode skipped a couple of lore intensive chapters, which season 2 will probably start with.
More of the canaries soon! I want to see them in action!

Everyone says Laios is a dog, but let's not overlook Falin proudly bringing food she found to Marcille.
I'm kind of surprised that this is the point they decided to end the anime on, I thought it'd be the chapter that seems to be the planned first episode of season 2 now. Still, newcomers to the series seem sufficiently hyped with this finale, which is all I can hope for. I've loved this world and its characters for years now and am really glad it has been getting all this positive attention
I plan on stopping where the anime left off!

As a manga reader, I'm not entirely happy with how they decided to end the season - Trigger has a tendency to cut down or completely skip small but meaningful character interactions in the manga and IMO it ended up affecting the pacing to the point where they cut it off at this weird place. I personally would've preferred it if they wrapped up the season before the Canaries were introduced and had them showing up be one of season two's big hooks, but oh well.
Will definitely try to watch your manga read through vids! Hopefully they're not as long as the streams since I can't watch those.
I honestly thought they would have ended it with the introduction of the golden kingdom, felt like a natural place to stop.

The soul egg metaphor has keeping rolling nicely. First time Senshi came back to this topic was seemingly out of the blue, it was preparing to this moment. This was the season finale but it was like a manifesto of goals for the next season.
Both siblings set to make Marcille eat random stuff
