@@Tryler_You got your wish. LVL50 is hosting a classic Halo 2 tournament (with OG hardware) at the end of this year to celebrate the game’s 20th anniversary.
I was like 12 when this was a thing and it's insane to me that most of us here probably now have a good 10 years on the "kids" (who are now grown ass men themselves) in this video. This was absolutely the foundation for what FPS/3PS(in the case of Fortnite) esports became. So ahead of its time. I can only imagine how big this would've been in the modern day. Or even how much better the competition would've been since the tournaments were limited by who can physically show up to play whereas Fortnite (as much as we can shit on it compared to an actual competitive game like this) has tournaments accessible to people worldwide straight from their bedrooms. Would've been insane.
I would love for halo to be in the competitive gaming limelight again. Probably the only game I really wanna compete in. These videos are relics of a bygone era
Some of the best times I ever had playing video games were at these events..... some of the best games weren't even played at the event. The hotel room battles were unbelievable. 8 years straight, I spent going to these and local tournaments around the country. Awesome memories!!
I only really started playing halo seriously like a year before MCC and that was only halo 3, but I enjoy all of the halo 2 so much, I am gonna go back and watch every episode, thanks for uploading them!
Yeah I don't know if you can find or buy these anywhere? So I mainly put these on here so I would never lose them. I was surprised how many others wanted to watch them haha.
@@Sagasaurus I wanted to learn the history of MLG and looked into it since Halo was one of the pioneer games for the service. Watching it is so cool and oddly nostalgic for me
I remember when these hit the xbox 360 store and bought just about all of them. Halo 3 ones and few halo reach ones. Back when there was no Twitch streamers or UA-cam videos to watch on how to get better it was studying these guys in tournaments
The only bad thing about mlg was the stupid record being brought into a second meeting. Like if u won 4-1 the next time you play it should be 0-0 not 4-1
he just casually says ogre1's 51 kills.. back then when you were reading this on mlg's site and then watching it on vod you were pretty much blown away. he definitely was the pistola of the h1 and early h2 days or should i say pistola was the og1 of the post-h2 days.
Halo 2 was the best. Had Clan’s and Clan battles. Fun customs and glitches. Proximity/ pregame chat, and there was no parties so everyone was talking. Only bad thing was the cheating once you hit higher levels unless you bridged host.
I bought all of these as a kid on xbox 360 and got fucking hacked so now its hard af almost impossible to find every episode and i still get pissed I lost them.
Thumbs up if you miss this and are here in 2024, remember the B + X + R MLG combo? to bad that with all the team standby crap you couldnt legit get to lvl 50, i ended up 38 at the time :(
Nah bro… they had MLG on espn back in the day… gaming was having a huge surge at this time and many people who never heard of halo would’ve been exposed to the game via MLG
Why don’t we have trash talk like this on the stage in HCS these days? I see it on the interviews after games and such but never see or hear it during games anymore
Lmao, claw grip is not for moving and firing simultaneously, you can already do that. It’s purpose is to be able to move while reloading, melee, jumping, etc. Also, bumper jumper was the most broken controller set up, claw technique was overrated.
@@mjisurdad being able to jump (which moves your hitbox) while keeping your reticule on target constantly gives you quite the advantage in firefights (in any shooting game). If you played on default, you'd have to move your right thumb to the A button to jump, then quickly move it back to the thumb stick to correct your aim.
man if only MCC would of did halo half decent it could/should still be one of the biggest Esports and have a legacy greater/longer than smash bros. i fucking hate 343 pretty much given up on halo and infinite looks like another sad attempt like halo 4/5 just new coat of paint the new will wear off and it will be another bad halo game.
Lol sundance acts like he knows what he’s talking about, but anybody that plays the game would know better. “Why wouldn’t he pick up sword and rockets??” “Well, you don’t wanna have all the candy if someone kills you” no dude… rockets had two shots left and would have just left him with sword thats useless at mid / long range. He wanted to keep a battle rifle for safety and the rockets rather than sword bc it’s a more diverse weapon thats easier to get kills with
It’ll never be this good again.
Agreed!
It’s so depressing :(
We can only try
Imagine someone replicates how good this was one day

@joerowland9128 no. There was no esports terminology used back in 2006. It should have just stayed called MLG
