The Nav/Infotainment system in my Passat has started acting up with the Nav screen freezing on a location and refusing to move or the proximity buttons on the bottom of the screen staying up even when your hand is no where near it. When you tap on the buttons nothing happens either. Fortunately, my car still has a factory warranty and I was able to bring it into the dealer while it was acting up since 2 hard resets only briefly fixed it. They are telling me a whole new unit has to be put in.

How did you connect it to electricity on the test bench? Just a 5v power source?

how do you remove the radio from the car? I'm having problems with the touch screen not working. the buttons and radio work fine, but I can't program my phone via bluetooth. The touch screen asks me to tap "connect" but it won't respond. I tried using the knob on the right to make the selection manually, but the knob only allows me to cancel and won't move the selection to "connect". I reset the radio various times already. The reset used to fix the issue. Now it doesn't help. I took my car to the dealership, and they say I need to replace the radio and want to charge $1800. Can you recommend other troubleshoots?

It's like trying to get a direct line to the President of the United States talking to this company. The web site doesn't recognise my vin number so that's it, no way round it, nobody to talk to, just telephone option dead ends.

Are you still trying to solve this? There's a video called "Repairing the faulty touch sensor on a VW head unit." which shows a very easy and simply replacement of the digitizer (the touch screen part). I've only just ordered my replacement digitizer, but it cost £16 and it makes sense that that would fix it. Worth a go if you know how to use a screwdriver, your fingers and have half an hour spare.
