    Congratulations on your two beautiful finishes. The canvas kits from Sharon are absolutely beautiful. Your hair is so nice and always remember that many women spends at least once a week getting curls put in their hair (not including perms every 6 weeks) so enjoy them even if they sometime become a little unruly. Have a great day.

    Your finishes are gorgeous. I haven’t tried stitching canvas. That sounds interesting. I understand about your hair! I have had straight hair for 70 years! I had grown it out to my mid back. About a year ago I decided to cut it about your new length. The hairdresser did her magic. All was well. Then, I washed it! I had curly hair for the first time in my life! I was shocked. I had to buy all new products and try to make the best of it. My sister says I’m lucky because I can have straight or curly hair. The problem is the frizz! It’s not humid in California except in the winter when we have fog. Oh boy, I’m right there with you. lol.❤

    Hi Caroline. Stretcher bars are used primarily in needlepoint and counted canvas projects. Needlepoint canvases especially hand painted canvases come in many different sizes and shapes and measurements. The stretcher bars are paired in twos to accommodate the size and measurements of a piece. Counted canvas projects are typically square, 12 x 12, 10 x 10, etc. I have needlepoint projects that measure 22 x 14 so those are the pairs needed. Beautiful finishes for you and really cute hair! Stitch on!

    I ❤❤❤ your Halsingland Blommer and would love to stitch in the same colors. Your finishes and canvas pieces are beautiful. In fact, all the canvas work you showed is inspiring me to get my canvas work pieces back out. I feel the need, especially, to work on a piece by Carole Lake, who passed away recently. She was a great teacher and designed both counted canvas pieces and painted canvas stitching guides. I may even show some of my canvas WIPs on my next FlossTube.
    I TOTALLY understand about hair…I also have very curly hair (or did until I left it go gray…lol!). My aunts would admonish me when I would complain in my younger years that they paid lots of money to get hair like mine, but what folks with straight hair often don’t get is that the curls do what they want and sometimes you end up with lots of frizz instead of curls. I finally came to embrace my curls as I got older, but it took quite a while…lol! Your hair looks great.
    FYI: I always assumed stretcher bars come in pairs so we can make rectangles as well as squares. 😊

  • @joanmorris7135
    @joanmorris7135 Рік тому

    I did a canvas stitch many years ago and I didn’t know what the heck I was doing, but I stumbled through and really enjoyed it. That was about the time I left stitching behind, so I never tried a second one. I think the reason they sell stretcher bars in pairs is so if you want a rectangle instead of a square, you have plenty of options.

    Stretcher bars are used for counted canvas but also because you stretch painting canvas which can be done in a rectangle as well as a square, so in sets of twos you can make any size you want without having extras hang around if it is not equal sides. Sharon thank you for your generosity. And yes each one is amazing.

  • @debng3210
    @debng3210 Рік тому

    What lovely finishes, and what a great gift for your mom (though it would have been a beautiful pillow for your sofa, also)! The stretcher bars are sold in pairs so that if you have a rectangular canvas, you simply buy a pair for each dimension and create the best size for the canvas. A square is just a rectangle with both height and width the same, so you'd order 2 pairs of the size needed.
    Love your hair! I get the curl issues, too. Mine is currently long so the weight keeps it a bit straighter, but with any humidity the shorter hairs go curly/frizzy so I need lots of product. Probably going back to a shorter style again later this year but need it long enough to tie back or put up for summer.

    Wonderful to see you again...straight hair or curly hair, it doesn't really matter. My 2 daughters have extremely straight hair and, when they were teenagers & wishing for curly hair, tried all sorts of rollers etc etc and trips to the hairdresser...but the waves & curls would last only an hour or two at the most! At the same time, their friends with wavy curly hair, were extremely envious of my daughters' straight hair! Anyway, I always enjoy your videos.

    Just discovered your channel. I’ve done all the needle and thread arts over the years - I’m currently in a needlepoint phase. So your conversation about canvas work was a new term to me. Guess that makes sense for the linen and Aida cross stitchers. I enjoy both charted needlepoint and painted canvas designs. Charted saves quite a bit of money and there are some great old school books out there. I love the traditional works by Beth Russell and the amazing colors of Kaffe Faasett. Can’t wait to see binge some more of your videos. Best wishes.

    Maybe stretcher bars are sold in pairs in case someone needs to make a rectangle instead of a square? 🤔 Sharon is very generous to pass the kits on but I’m sad that she no longer wants them. 🙁 I stitched many counted canvas projects 44 years ago! After seeing these kits I am very motivated to make it happen! Thank you!

    I stitched all 4 of the seasonal logs. Quite enjoyable. I had already been stitching using carons watercolours for years so i was fortunate to not have to buy all the colors for each season except for a few and of course the two matching skeins for the border. Those will be a wonderful gift for any stitcher. plus the instructions were superb. The instructions ask you to pencil in the logs but each log is finely detailed with a chart and even includes the compensating stitches so it was not necessary to draw the logs
