I left my gold plated brass jump rings in sodium Bisulfate pickle which ratio was 1/8 cup of pickle to 1 cup of water and the jump rings came out black still. Can anyone tell me why this happened I have spent all day sanding the jump rings with 600 grit sand paper and than using the pro polish pad I'm halfway done I got two jump rings completely clean and the chain is halfway done
Aubrey Mascali Baking soda is sodium bicarbonate, so it’s a different thing. I believe sodium bisulphate is available from swimming pool supply stores.
@@MatBrownActually, as you said, if you paid attention in Chemistry class you would know the Salt breaks down into Na and Cl, which then accepts a H molecule from the Acetic acid (vinegar) and becomes Hydrochloric Acid ... which is why it works so good!
I think the pH down I'm using here is from a hydroponics suppliers. To the best of my knowledge there are two things commonly sold as pH Down - sodium bisulfate and phosphoric acid. I know that pH Down for swimming pools is sodium bisulfate, and the pH Down for hydroponics is phosphoric acid. Your aquatics shop should be able to tell you what they stock.

since phosphoric is a prime component in coca cola, I'd add it to the test as it usually has carbonic acid too, I think.

Yup. Any acid will work. I did have some HCl around but didn't include it in the test because it was in some weird gel form for applying to tiles..

Almost certainly. It's very acidic, but it's also quite sticky.
Does phospohic acid release any fumes unheated? Im using piranha solution atm and it works great even without heating
Not that I'm aware of. Although I use it in a cheap ultrasonic cleaner which has a lid, so I probably wouldn't notice if it did.

Nitric acid for copper.
too strong & more dangerous, will start etching; nitric & sulfuric acids mixed = dutch mordant for etching steel in my past experiences.
Nitric acid and copper would create a volatile reaction i believe.
I used to mix copper with 32% hydrochloric acid to create nitric acid
Try finding somewhere to get it...
