Thank you for doing these and being so honest about everything! I love you! I'm finally not weeks late, I know a lot of people here want to be on Broadway and really look up to you! I love this family we've created here!
why is this bringing tears to my eyes?? i miss broadway so much and i saw you in mean girls during the summer 2019 and absolutely loved it!! thank you for putting out this content, i almost feel like i have lived all of this with you :)
Hi Krystina! I love your content I am so happy I found your youtube channel. I was wondering how do actors get managers and agents? I don’t know much about it but were you working with an agency or a solo manager. Thank you and I love the content! I really want to one day try out for musicals but don’t really know how!
You're a really solid storyteller, Krystina! A lot of times the stage presence and awesome-ness people bring to stage/TV/film isn't always transferrable to this platform, but you're really easy to listen to and so engaging. :) Thanks for sharing your craft
It would probably be a pain to edit, but I would love to see a mean girls cast among us game! That sounds like it would be hilarious lol. Love the video! YAY Krystina
@@KrystinaAlabado It's a game that is really popular right now, like mafia, where you have a group of friends on a space ship and they are trying to figure out which member of the friend group is killing! It is super fun and super easy to do on zoom. I know Andrew and Mariah have played it with star kid! It super enjoyable and fun to play, especially as actors, because you have to lie! If you search among us in the youtube search bar, tons of videos will come up!! Let me know if you have any questions or have gotten this far on this response. It's really long lol. LOVE THE VIDEOS!
This process sounds so chaotic and is one of the reasons I have so much respect for anyone who has ever worked on broadway. I was shocked over the fact you never had any dance lessons before the show because you were so amazing when I saw the show . Also, Did they allow you to keep any props or costumes from the show ?
This is such an eye opener, MT isn't my career but I love it so much. I had a similar experience at University where i was asked to be Beth in Little Women for one night. I had about 2 weeks of rehearsals and a month to learn it all. What an experience 🙌
Laughing at that line about stage management but it’s true I am a teen Stage Manager and in rehearsal the other day I was taking notes, reading stage directions and playing 1/3 of the characters.
Krystina, I've been LOVINGGG this series. I've never heard the Broadway audition & rehearsal process described so in-depth before, thank you!!! I'd love to hear about how doing the Spring Awakening national tour compared & differed if that'd be a video you'd want to make :)
Thanks for sharing, this info is really interesting and fills the hole in my heart left by the show shutting :( In future vids I'd love to know more about the day-to-day stuff of being on BWY - like do you have to sign in, who do you call if you're sick, can you leave a different way if you don't want to stage door, how do you prepare before the show mentally and physically, what is it like for you when a swing,u/s or standby goes on, how does the audience impact your performance, what are costume changes like, what other backstage roles do you work closely with, do you have to do your own makeup and hair??? Thanks again for your videos. I miss seeing nightly backstage shenanigans on Instagram, so this is nice to see
This was very interesting, thanks! I'm a musical director in the opera end of the business, so hearing about the contract and rehearsal details of the MT world is fascinating to me. When I first started out years ago I was tempted to try to get into a national or world tour, as other conductor and pianist friends of mine had done, thinking it'd be fun to do for a year or two.
I literally had a dream where I was in mean girls as Janis and I’m so happy to see Mean Girls Memories show up in my notifications😭❤️we are LOVING this content, you go girl!!
Loving these videos! I know it's probably a ways off, but when you're finished with this series I would love to hear about your experience with American Psycho :)
I am loving these story times so much!!! I miss seeing shows and I miss performing (and rehearsing) so damn much and I can’t wait for things to get back to normal so that can all start happening again. I so wish I could see Mean Girls on Broadway again (I’ve been obsessed with the show for the past three years) but since that unfortunately won’t be happening I’m so glad that I can listen to your stories which are keeping the Broadway show alive a little longer. So thank you for sharing your Mean Girls stories with us!!! 💖 Looking forward to hearing more soon! PS: I’m totally auditioning for Damian if they ever start looking for a replacement/understudy on the National Tour. Guess I should get my butt back in tap class ASAP!
You may have done a video on this already, but I’m curious. It is my dream to audition for The Cursed Child on Broadway. But I am not union and every audition posted for the show is union only. Is there still a way I can audition? Thanks! Love your videos!
I have so much repsect for all Broadway performers, crew members, writers, etc. I think that it is litterally the coolest job in the world. I'd to be a crew member when I grow up. You're so cool Krystina
before I started rehearsals! I was in rehearsals for something else during auditions so I never had time to actually go see it while I was auditioning!
Yes! Anything can happen before the deal comes through and so many people are making the decision, that who knows what will actually happen. Until the offer officially comes through, I move forward as if nothing has changed!
I'm curious as to what classes you took in terms of dancing? I've never been properly trained and I'm always auditioning for shows. Dance calls terrify me and I'm taking classes now but I feel like I'll never get to a high enough standard of what directors etc are looking for (I'm also nearly in my mid 20's) :(
For me it was all about knowing my strengths and being ok with the fact that I would never get cast in a dance ensemble. That wasn’t my focus anyway as I felt my strengths were elsewhere. But regardless, even if you know you aren’t destined for the front row in a Broadway dance ensemble, you will STILL inevitably have to go to dance calls, I do all the time! My advice is to accept where you’re at and have FUN and act the crap out of it regardless of missing steps. (I talk about my dance call experience for MG in the previous vid about my audition process) and take class it’s a great way to get in reps! and if being in a Broadway dance ensemble IS your dream, keep pushing and practicing and know that it’s ok that your brain may not work as fast as someone else’s! Break a leg!! 💕💕
@@KrystinaAlabado thank you so much for replying so quickly! 😊 Will definitely continue taking classes whenever I can as it’s honestly a combination of lack of confidence and skill. I’ve never seen myself as a dancer any way but I just know that dance classes are imperative in order to pursue musical theatre! But I will continue to give as much “face” as I possibly can during dance calls! 😄 thank you again I feel so much better after this video and your reply ☺️
OMG! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH! YOU INSPIRE ME SO MUCH!??
Stage Managers really are MT SUPERHEROES!
"And then we go over what's wrong with me" I died hahaha I know it's a song but the way you worded it💀
omg please do something with Reneé!
I am absolutely HOOKED! This is so insanely interesting and informative. Thanks for sharing!xx
I love you so much!! 🥰🥰
fr my favorite Gretch. "hold [] thigh so she feels comfortable." LOVING that detail, I wish anything I could be in a Broadway show
Dream big!!
@@KrystinaAlabado I wanna do Six!! 😄
I was listening to Apex Predator when I got this notification! So nice to see a new video from you.

These videos are INCREDIBLE and so informative. I don't think I have ever seen anyone explain the Broadway process in this much detail! :D
Thanks for the video!
You’re such a wonderful storyteller! Loving all of these 💙
Miss that show so bad
I am loving this series
This is so so so interesting!! Thank you for explaining everything in so much detail, cause it really makes me feel i'm right there with you

Hey Krystina, I know this video has been out for 2 years, but I have a question. Where did you live during your Broadway run?

@@KrystinaAlabado that’s why I got into it.
This was fascinating! Thanks for sharing all these details! 🥰✨
The fact that you started rehearsal on my bday, February 16th, makes me so happy
I've always been interested in what it's like coming into an already running show, so thank you for making this video!
As someone who's only theatre experiences have been with community productions, this is fascinating. Thank you for sharing all of this!
Were you paid during those 2 weeks of costume/wig fittings prior to the beginning of rehearsals? Or did you only get paid once rehearsals started?
Loving these behind the scene stories!! Thank u for sharing!!!
Are the clothes real clothes from a store or are they specially made for the show?

whatever name you end up choosing is great! all the name ideas are brilliant!
Yall should play Among Us
Could you do a video on the actual ‘being’ on broadway? Like how your days are, how vacations etc work
