Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance - Demi-fiend OTK Cheese - Hard + No New Game+

- Edit: I realized I forgot to show my difficulty at the end, but try it for yourself on hard if need be and you'll get the same results.
OTK may be somewhat misleading as it's multiple turns, but it's basically all done in a single turn. This strat is also luck-based, but stacking passives means you'll only need a few attempts. This video is my second kill, which was only three runs after the first.
Some things to note:
- You need to enter the fight with 1HP and full Magatsuhi. You can easily get to 1HP by punching Rangdas in the overworld. You also need to spend a turn letting Demi-fiend hit another repel/drain phys demon so you can build more bar, hence why turn 1 I just summon Rangda and do nothing else
- The way Demi-fiend's AI works: whenever you tag anyone in, if it's not a demon he's seen before, he'll always try to hit them with a phys attack. The "not seen before" part is important when you tag Glasya-Labolas back in, they need to be in your opening line-up so Demi-fiend "recognizes" them already and doesn't attack them
- Mephisto is absolutely not required, anyone with null phys and debilitate would work fine. He's actually strictly worse because if his ailment lands, Demi-fiend sometimes misses his drain/repel target and ruins the run. Any time I hit Pixie with him, I'm just padding Magatsuhi, but I don't think it's actually necessary
- Sandalphon and Glasya-Labolas are both deliberate choices: the former has a passive that allows almighty attacks to crit, while the latter has a passive that boosts crit rate for allies with +2 evasion. A lot of the demons have unnecessary skills, but you only need to copy what is used in the video. Glasya also happens to be part of the beast race, so they give you access to Adversity. Strictly better than Loup-Garou, who I was using before I thought about the passive.
- The only way to get the fourth press turn doing the OTK turn is if the first Murakumo crits. If it does, you're literally home free
this is the second game this year where "Sandalphon" has helped me cheese a superboss - Ігри
I adapted your strategy and killed him with no crits. I dumped all my stats into Magic. Then Used Heavenly Ikuyumi dibilitating and inflaming divinty 7 shots from the bow 4 from succession and then the three back outs, was enough.
What do you mean by "7 shots from the bow"?
@@pourygin9496 Ikuyumi is a bow and arrow move that with harder the more debuff target has, the first 4 were with the magatsuhi skill, the other 3 cast were just normal
@@pourygin9496 "7 shots" refers to him killing Demifiend in 7 hits
I can confirm - spent hours with Murakumo + STR max like in video. Close but no success. Switched to max MAG + Heavenly Ikuyumi bow attack and was criting for 17000 and doing 7.5k regular hits vs 12000 with Murakumo and 5k regular hits. Beat demi-fiend with bow attack after two tries. All you need is one crit and you win with the other 6 shots. Everything else on Nahobino was the same build in video.
Also switched out Mephisto for Demeter because I built her with Luster Candy and Debilitate and used her to debuff. No issues.
thank you so much . managed to get it 2nd try on hard mode . 1st attempt got unlucky with crits and had him down to like 1 hp but 2nd attempt got a lot of crits that i managed to beat him with an extra turn left.
important: make sure all of your other demons that aren't repel/drain bait null phys. i tried using yoshitsune without null phys instead of sandalphon and he kept targeting yoshitsune instead of the newly swapped demon. i switched him with ongyo-ki with null phys and the strat worked fine.
worked like a charm, thanks for sharing this. this is the exact kind of ridiculous strategy i was looking forward to in vengeance. 15000 dmg murakumo
Yippeeeeeeeeeeeee, thanks to this strategy I won the fight with only 3 crits and 4 attempts, it was very unlucky sometines but it works magnificently
Wow thanks man!! was trying to kill this boss for 1 week and finally i did it! BTW guys if u are trying this strategy, demons with phys repel are mandatory ( Girimekhala, Sigfrido, Rangda ) and you need to use exactly the same nahobino build of this video ( for more crit chance )
Thank you so much!
I'm pretty sure Sandalphon doesn't do anything here since Strength-based attacks can all crit automatically, Sandalphon's innate just makes Almighty magic able to crit... Is there a better demon to use here?? I can't seem to get enough crits.
masakado is a good option because of his innate skill but you need to do his quest line in canon of creation before you can fuse him
Sandalphon is here because jis innate skills gives EVERYONES almighty skills extra crit chance , this helps mc fish for crits during 5 hits of succession
@@thonk5262 Are we sure it increases crit chance? I thought it just adds crit chance for Almighty magic attacks
@@HyenaFox I believe you are correct. Sandalphon and other demons' with same innate skill only "unlocks" the ability for magic to crit, it doesn't increase crit rate.
Whenever I need to crit with the 4 consecutive attacks the Rng gods screw me over
I followed this but for some reason when i tagged Glasya back in, Demi-fiend went for it instead of Girimekhala the first time
the second time he went for Girimekhala though
the AI is weird
How much Strength and Luck did ur Nahobino have?
Mine had 182 strength, 105 luck, murderous glee and bloody glee but he's not critting at all.
I finally got it done and man you need to be extremely lucky when you use savae omagatomi. If you fail a crit, you have to pray that the next 3 hit do enough damage to beat him, otherwise, you have fail
Is this… really the way to fight him? After looking through the internet it’s literally either you are lucky and survive the one shots in his fights or you cheese him. Is that really how atlas wants you to play against this fight? The fight just seems soo dog shit cause of how random the AI can be sometimes plus the stupid ass one shot kills. I get through the fight fine but it’s the stupid ass chaotic will that fucks me over.
No, this is a cheese strategy.
It's possible to beat him in the old way with a Phys Pierce Critical damage dealer, a Elemental Caster, a Buffer/Debuffer and a Healer. There is no strategy, just dealing damage and getting extra turns, that is the way I prefer.
Is important to get Resist/Null Phys for all your demons and also Inmortal Soul to your Character and Sustain demons to resist his insta kill move.
Also, you have to keep doing enough damage to constantly kill some of his demons. If you don't kill a demon in 4-5 turns, he will just spam that Gaia thing. That move will sweep all your team 100%, so keep pressing on 😅
@@Yawar25 I get through the fight fine and I have some decent recovery with revival chant if he wipes my team. It’s just annoying when he does the one shot move AND it half’s your turns. Like atlus doesn’t just want to suck half your dick, they want the whole fucking thing with their jagged ass teeth… my goodness lol
Easiest Demi Fiend strategy by far. required little effort and killed him first and second try.
Dang, I’m not critting at all when I need to
How do you get omnipotent succession? Why can't the MC use taunt, fierce roar, or king of tales with physical immunity so the demifiend wastes his turns? I assume that would be easier than having to swap in a new physical immune demon every turn.
1. You will get omnipotent succession during Vengeance story (I won't spoil when).
2. If MC and/or demon in party null/drain/reflect physical (excluding the first turn), then Demi-Fiend will Gaea Rage you (insta-kills everyone in party). Switching demons with reflect tricks his AI, since switching in any "new" demon will always trigger Demi-Fiend to physically attack said demon, no matter their affinities, thus overwriting his Gaea Rage script.
@@JRPGLOVER Will demi-fiend prioritize attacking the new party member over healing himself at half hp?
2. I don't think what you're saying is true, unless vengeance changed how the fight works. When this player is fighting the demi-fiend with an idun who has null phys for the first 12 minutes, gaea rage doesn't show up.
ua-cam.com/video/N9aspiGHsoA/v-deo.html
Even if the other demons are weak or neutral, if a taunting ally is immune to physical, DF will start using his "anti-antiphysical-set" AI, with consist in freikugel mixes with chaotic will
@@JRPGLOVERThe part about Gaea Rage actually isn't true. If Demi-Fiend is forced to attack a party member that his AI knows has NDR phys he just does Freikugal instead.
The only trigger for Gaea rage is if Demi-Fiend has taken 6 actions (usually 3 enemy turns) without you killing any of the demons in his party
Whose essence drops null phys?
Ongyo-ki in the temple of eternity, only takes a few minutes to get one.
I'm having trouble fusing Glasya Labolas, any chance you can help a man out and tell me the fusion?
special fusion Dormarth + Anzu + Macabre
@@tommygreenyt THANK YOU
Either my luck is the worst in the world or this was done in Casual.
After 10+ attempts, my odds of getting 2 10k+ damage crits in the first 4 hits is 0%. Scratch that, I never got one!
You should definitely kill him within ten attempts if you have to same setup. If your crits aren’t hitting over 10K, is something missing? You specifically need +9 almighty, level 99, similar STR, Critical Zealot, 1HP when activating adversity, and +2 buffs with -2 debuffs. Even lower damage could potentially clear with more crits, I only got 2/8 in the video.
@@SuhImb I have a STR build, over 120 STR, +9 Almighty, 2 buffs, 2 debuffs, 1 HP on Adversity, same demons, same style.
I will add Critical Zealot and both Bloody Glee and Murderous Glee to increase Crit chance because, between Glasya and Sandalphon, not seeing a single crit just pissed me off.
@@OtakuFear You absolutely NEED Critical Zealot, as it increases your crit damage in ~45%
What affinity essence do you put on Nahobino ?
Naamah’s plus null phys, but you only need null phys to win
So if murakumo fail to crit, it retry? :(
Keeps happening to me
