This happened to me in reverse.
Someone I was dating cut things off randomly maybe a month ago. I came to talk to him about how I felt things were a little distant between us & how I wasn’t sure how he felt about me. I thought the conversation went well, he reassured he did like me and enjoyed dating thus far. He wanted to process the conversation & literally the next day called and broke things off! I was so shocked! He told me how beautiful I was, amazing, funny etc. but said he felt like our feelings were in different places and I was forcing I guess emotions on him?? Honestly I still don’t know the complete reason why. I told him I respected his decision but was left so confused.
Just like u said Ali, I thought things were building up to something great. I thought having the conversation with him would show I could be vulnerable and communicate my feelings, but it ended up him coming off so deceiving. At first I thought it was another woman, could be still. But this past week I realized it probably was because he just started on a new creative contract with a client. It’s so hard to fathom him breaking things off for a new contract but this reading is confirmation what I thought is correct! I’m so heartbroken still. I really liked him and thought we would be great together, like a power couple. Idk if he will come back but if he tried it’ll never be the same. I feel betrayed and deceived. Change, even good change, is hard to maneuver. Your words were so on the money today I had to acknowledge them and, at times, laugh out loud over them. Different angles and speeds, yes. I get that. I am finding it hard to believe that my partner is actually changing because I still see certain patterns I would like them to eliminate, which I am tired of dealing with ad nauseum. Clarification of what I've been going through has been phenomenal and very helpful. Thank you for redirecting my misguided energy. Getting in my own way is the serious answer.
I feel the same. Seeing the positive change in them but also seeing things that haven't changed causes me to fear the future with this person. And I don't ever want to go through this again. Thank you Ali, you really gave me something to think about for now.

We had dated, he had broken up with me and pushed me away, we built up a solid friendship over the course of half a year, he admitted he had fallen back in love with me and had told me I was one of the most important people in his world and that nothing could ever come between us ever again, and then less than 2 weeks later he told me he wasn't good enough or strong enough, wished me luck, and blocked me. Leaving her bc he was moving for a job he didn’t have yet, Ihe had all these plans and she didn't fit into his plan. So far, he has not done any of them. Last year my daughter cut me completely out of her life, also denying me my access to my only grandchild (7) in this country. It was because l meet (and now live with) her neighbour. It was savage, abrupt and it has not lessened with time. l had spent the last 15 years alone and moved to the other side of the country to help look after my granddaughter, while my daughter worked. l was trespassed for taking a halloween gift to her door last Nov, the Christmas and birthday presents were returned. My granddaughter and l could speak to each other until after Dec, when that also was not allowed. Her (my daughter)and l have not spoken since this happened back in April 2023
