My goodness, inline 6 engines from Porsche and BWM (especially the B58) have a crisp sound! Lovely stuff.
Porsche doesn't make inline 6s. If you're referring to 911 and cayman, they use boxer 6s.

The N55 and B58 inline 6 engines really do sound a bit like small Aston Martin V12's with good exhausts. Turbocharged cars really can sound great👌
Not sure how you got that impression, I'd say a naturally aspirated inline can sound like a v12, but with forced induction? 🤔
@@Kaisuke971 I have a 330i N52 straight 6. Smoothest engine I've driven. 3.0 naturally aspirated, sounds amazing. ECU-tuned at 274hp but I'll get the 340i or 440i soon.

Thought it’s hard to tell in the video when you’re high in the rev range it’s very similar to the RB26 from the skyline. A very lovely in-line 6 sound!

Sounds great, mppsk is another level though. The engines are legendary
This is not MPPSK, only Mperformance. They are diffetent. MPPSK is valved and includes midpipe without resonators. Mperformance in this video in only muffler with tips, non valved and it had stock midpipe with dual resonator. MPPSK is another level compared to Mperformance
I went to look at 2 440i´s.
One was a M performance with m performance exhaust and the other one was a bone stock 440i GC M sport.
Even tho I´m only 24, i went with the stock m sport GC. The m perf front splitter was just too low and the m perf exhaust does sound nice but I got them neighbours and wouldn´t like doing the cold start at 4am. That being said: the stock exhaust still does sound punchy and still has some burble action so it´s not like you´re left with a vacuum cleaner sound. And then there´s the fact the GC model was just more practical with little compromise to the exterior looks. All it needs is a little lip on the boot and it looks every bit as good. Can always install exhaust later on anyway
Thank you so much!!! I searched the whole internet for just just this! I am in the final stage of buying an 340i Touring and don't know if the stock exhaust is enough. I live in a very old neighborhood, therefore I have the same issue. Cold start MPPSK at 6 o'clock? Don't know if its cool hahaha
@@sirspecialmanMy 440i was a 2016, so it's pre-OPF which makes a big difference. I work at the car technical control and I see alot of M performances and full on M cars. Recent versions are a good bit quieter. My stock 440i was a good bit louder and deeper sounding than a recent bmw x3 M for example. The Cold start was more than loud and made people turn their heads for sure
Is this only the M Performance Exhaust or is it with MPPSK?
Fantastisch geluid zeg! Standaard uitlaat is al meer dan prima, maar met M performance is het geluid gewoon nog beter
For anyone considering it: In my opinion MPPSK is 100% worth it. I have it on my 340 and it is amazing. The only problem is gas mileage which drops to about 3 MPG when in sport mode, but hey- its 35 more hp and 39 more lb/ft torque, so what else can you expect :)

Plot twist: my 2020 x6 with the same B58 engine still doesnt sound the same in sport plus tha in comfort here. Thanks OPF Filters!
the only thing i dont like on my 340i touring with M Performance Exhaust is the start up noise it makes, its pretty loud even the engine is hot. but still love it in tunnels :)

bmw e46 lover there is no difference in sound from touring and m3 cuz it's the exact same exhaust system
there is a huge difference in sound, because F80/82 uses different engine, and the whole exhaust is completely different, you couldnt even swap the stock exhaust on 340i for the one on F80.. (probably because 1 and 2 turbos difference, different downpipe, different everything..)
Oh yes, rev the second one when cold. Love it. Perfection.

Well, the cars are cool but the mic positions and environments where both cars were recorded differ to much to be able to objectively compare the sound of both cars. Of course they sound differently if you record one car from 2 meters away and the other from 4 meters. Or if you put the mic directly behind one exhaust and for the other car between the two exhausts. 😅 Of course it sounds more bassi when placed directly behind the exhaust rather than between the two. And comparing the sound of a car with a cold engine and one with a warm one... mhh. But for the rest it is an entertaining vid 👌 so, peace✌🏻.

sorry but wasn't the 340i with the performance exhaust cold? doesn't seem like the best idea to rev it that high then.
Regardless, lovely smooth sounds. Exactly what I was expecting from BMW.

And rhere is a difference between reving while the car is standing vs. on drive where the engine actually has something to work :)
Isn't it because the BMW puts only 1 valve open to reduce the noise when startup on the revs? I have my 340i and its also like that :)

This is only Mperformance exhaust. MPPSK exhaust is different. It has only same tips. MPPSK sound even more brutal than this

No it’s a different Exhaust. The m-Performance exhaust on the touring was an option to order
