Like all things, it depends. Your actions are often the cause of problems. However not all of our problems are self inflicted. Prayer helps with those things that aren't our fault. Repentance helps with those problems that are our fault. Also if things are overwhelming, you can also go to your friends for help too. If they are truly your friends they will want to help.
I learned a little about Josiah recently. From what I heard, he learned that God's wrath had to come upon the people due to their sin. Is there ever a point where the sin is such that wrath must occur, if only in the flesh?
I have actually often struggled with this ...we hear alot about how sinful we are but never about the consequences of sin. David of course dealt with the consequence of sin with bathsheba. I have sinned greatly in the past and still struggle with some sins. Altho i confess and ask God to forgive me, i have also dealt with depression and have lived a tough life. I have often thought it is the consequences of my sins from the past and present. We know that the Bible says God disciplines those he loves. So i think to myself i am being disciplined for many years of sin. I may be wrong with this thought process. But i dont think my sins will go unpunished either in this life or the next. We all will deal with the consequences of our sins in one way or another
Sometimes our sin leads to unhappiness. Sometimes it’s out of our control. God loves us. And, we are saved through Christ.

Merry CHRISTmas Brothers and Sisters. Don't let the evil one bother you. Rebuke him in Jesus Christ name.

Wondered the same thing myself.. thanks for your post.
Hank's explanation that Satan cannot effect physical harm on earth does not align with what the BiBle tells us in the Book of Job. ☹
