Great to hear advice from those who have done it! Getting started and learning to adjust is the hardest part. And every new RV you buy is another learning experience. But, it does get easier or more normal over time. Wish I would have prepared way longer before I got started. I could have saved so much time and money! Thanks for sharing. ❤
I love seeing all the different people out on the road and I had never seen one of these accounts before, this community is growing and growing. It is great to see. Thanks for all the advice and new accounts to look into.
What a terrific idea for a series! And how cooperative and giving the RV community is! This is another reason, of many, why we're heading toward full time. Fantastic advice! Thanks to all of the participants! Safe and healthy travels from the storm in Pa.!
The best travel trailers available will probably not be seen at any RV show, not sure why this is. What am I referring to you ask? Molded Fiberglass, brands like Casita, Scamp, Park Liner and Trillium , get a little more in size options and quality, you can't go wrong with an Escape or Oliver. Yes these trailers tend to cost a little more up front but you WAY get that back in use. Much lighter and easier to tow then stick built trailers plus hold their value like no other trailers do. I just sold a Casita to get an Escape and after owning the Casita for almost 5 years I sold it for only $400.00 LESS that what i paid for it, try doing that with a stick trailer
Maybe they do well enough without needing the shows? Not sure. Thanks for sharing the info and the brand names. It will give others who are not aware of the companies a bit more to research before making their purchase! Thanks for watching.
I have enjoyed seeing old faces from UA-cam “stars.” I miss seeing many of them who have left the life. We have an Aliner trailer and have taken it from coast to coast, South and Canada. I’ve been traveling with you all. AND you are still going.
If you’re new to RVing the RV shows are a great place to go to get a huge sample size at one time... walk into every type/size of RVs. Very informative video, we are trying to grow our channel and our knowledge of this lifestyle so thank you :)
Great job and great series!! So far we're in our 3rd year of "research". We have a travel trailer that we fell in love with at first sight. We have been taking 4-7 day trips since we bought it, as we can. This was my way of us "getting our feet wet" in the rv life. Once retired in March 2020 of 24 years as DOD firefighter, we plan to hit the road as fulltimer's. Thanks to all that contributed to your video and to the series.
That is a great idea! We firmly believe you do what you can where you are and go from there! The best part is you will know what you are doing when you hit the road full time....unlike us! lol
Love this series idea. Best take away for me was the advice from I'm Not Lost I'm RVing - "It's okay to fail." Were you guys just hinting at a side hobby for each of you? Phil will be a saxophone player with a jazz or blues band and you are going to be an orchestra conductor? If Phil is going to play the sax I would suggest that unless he is already good with playing it ya'll should get get more practice with your boondocking skills so that when he is practicing he won't upset the neighbors with the noise - lol. The good news is both of these new hobbies are travel friendly can be done while on the road, You can book yourselves as guest musicians/conductors at RV rallies 😉 You can call yourselves the 'Phil Harmonic Farleys' 🤣 (or 'Phil Harmonic Follies' - hahahahaha)
We are renovating and testing out our camping style before we go fulltime. Now so many full timers are buying home bases. This was a great way to see the same discussion from so many in one video. Thanks.
Great video. I especially love the "Put your butt in the seat" comment. We had one brand that we fell in love with the looks, floorplans, and gadgets, but then I started doing research on components and reading revues. I realized that brand's choice for slide type wasn't the best and there had several issues over warranty work so we decided it was not for us. I will even have a new RV inspected.
Great tips! UA-cam has been very helpful for helping me get ready to spend 2 1/2 months in Florida in my little Casita. I am almost a month in and all is good. Safe and happy travels.
Love all the advice from all the nomads. I'm still 4 years away, but on youtube daily. Shopping around and have have switched my RV class to from B, to a C, to an A. Sure I'll switch again.
Great video! I'm in the research process now. Man! So much to learn and plan. However, it's so exciting and I can not wait to wake up with a cup of coffee and my yard is the whole United States.
Another spot on video from you two. Great idea getting all the different perspective together from all the other RV'ers. You guys just keep coming up with great content. Keep up the good work. And as always thank you to all who have served
Great video, great series!!! We are going to retire in a couple of years and are DEEP in the planing and preparing stages. We have about 30% of our goals done and in place ready to go. This series is what we need right now to make sure we are on the right road. Thanks guys!!!!
Loved the video and the bloopers! Look how far yall have come since you filmed us! You're smoking all the other channels :) So happy for you guys! ~Stacy~
OK, Drivin and Vibin on lead guitar, Jamie from Enigmatic Nomadics on rhythm guitar, You, Me & the RV on sax, now we need a singer, drummer and bass player and we can have the RV Jammin Maniacs. Sound good?
Great start on a fun idea for a series. Tons of good tips from your guests and gives us a chance to go see their channel/pages. Looking fwd to the rest of the vids to follow. Thx for putting in the work to build these fun and useful video.
If someone were to ask me. Rent! Rent a Class A , B,C maybe a Super C 5th Wheel , and Travel Trailer. I'm not saying rent them all just what you think you might really be interested in. That way you get a feel of what it's like. That way you're not stuck with something you hate. So rent , for a few days or weeks . More the longer would be better. The same for something you have to pull. You might have to get a bigger truck to pull your rig. Its really not the pulling its the stopping your rig. Enjoy.
Great compilation! Due to the housing crisis, I was forced under circumstances to live in an RV with not only one, but TWO dogs. lol, it's working out and hope to post videos about my fails and wins particularly to help out the community with winter living in an RV. :). Thank goodness my pups are well trained and the area I live has such helpful folks. So worth it!
FYI We're living in a beautiful 2010 35' Cameo Carriage fifth wheel. This thing is exceeds my expectations for a trailer. Carpentry is perfect and I can fit a large kennel for the young pup. Posting this in 2021!
Been watching you guys a while and just stumbled on this series. We are not yet - not plan to be soon - full-timers, but this is fun to watch for the someday. Can't wait to dewinterize for a trip in 4 weeks!
@@todayissomeday We put our house on the market on Monday morning and it was sold by Monday evening. 2 people got into a bidding war over it and we actually got more than our asking price for our house. Our 2019 Outdoors RV mfg. Mountain series Timber Ridge 24RKS is already in the driveway waiting to go.
All good points from different views on RVing! I can't tell you the amount of research we did prior to going full time. I know it was well over 2 years, but when we decided to venture out, we had our ducks in a row. Also, if you don't know how to fix even the small items in your RV, you need to have deep pockets. It ain't cheap out there for service work!
Thanks for giving good advice to people starting out or thinking about this lifestyle. Be willing to listen and admit you do not know everything. Thanks again. Be safe on the road!
Also, monthly subscriptions to clubs etc. So Goodsams, harvest host, etc. I know they are personal. But there are so many, so are there any recommended ones, must haves and of course the keeping up with the “Jones”ones.
I dont know if there are must haves. I think it will depend on how you plan to RV. We love Harvest Host (video coming soon) and Boondockers welcome but not everyone likes boondocking.
Where is this recorded? China lake? We were stationed in RIDGECREST back in 2015. Have you guys ever been to the navy base there? Great video.. keep’m coming!👍😁
The opening was filmed at Lake Havasu but the rest was really all over the country. We started this series back in August! We have not been the base in Ridgecrest. Thanks for watching!
So, we are getting a budget together and we have about three years left. 10 yrs after my wife retired from the USAF. Question is, what are the best sources for info about budget costs. Maintenance, tyres, etc. I know I can google, but you guys are the best resource
That is a great question. I will add it to the next series. Budget info for RVing is a hard question because just like living in a house the budget gap is wide. It really depends on how you RV. Do you prefer boondocking on BLM land or do you prefer a resort for $100 a night? And of course maintenance ranges are just as wide based on the rig: 5th wheel, diesel pusher, gas, bumper tow. We do have a video about what we paid for our 30,000 mile maintenance on our rig if you are interested. It may give you an idea of what it will cost for diesels. PS: thank you both for your service and sacrifice
Thanks for your video, your are a great team. We are on this stressing laps, October 15th 2019 we will hit the road, we are presently downsizing, house will be to sold in a month, The more time goes by the more it becomes scary, the fundamental questions need answers... I think you have to be ready in your head, you have to be fine, you have to be well with your life partner because passing from 2000 sq ft to 300 sq ft will be a big change and the change is insecure! We bought our first rig last spring, it's a use one, we started to personalize it so I think it will be more easy to live in it. Sedentary to nomadic, worker to retired, house to motorized, Yes you have to be prepared, the unknown as to be like a constructive challenge!
October will be here before you know it! And yes it is scary. You are going against every thing you were taught to do! Once you get in your RV and drive away from the curb for the first time you will know it was totally worth all the stress! I hope you love it as we do!
The only problem with renting is if we would have drove a rv I never drove a big rig before I would of said no way we are going to drive this. We knew that driving our motorhome for the first time what need to be fixed.
Wow, even though I've been RVing for many years I thought that this video was terrific. I liked the idea of getting different folks to give their take on the subject. Maybe you can do short interviews with owners asking them to talk about the good points and not-so good points of their rigs, then prospective RVers will get ideas of the good and bad. Downunda - Melbourne Australia (Class C owner)
Thanks! Great idea for another video series. I just filmed a couple talking about why they chose their trailer. It would have been great to show a couple of things they would change if they could. Thanks for watching and safe travels.
I just spent today at the Florida RV Supershow in Tampa. I came with a list of motorhomes and a few trailers that I wanted to see and i was surprised to learn that some I liked better than I thought I would and ones I thought I’d like, I wasn’t as impressed. Yep, see as many as possible.
You, Me & the RV It was a blast but somewhat overwhelming. Twice I thought the guy behind me was Phil even though I knew you guys weren’t here. He sounded just like Phil. Haha. I did get to meet Carey on Vagabond at the Roadtrek booth. You should check out their channel.
I like the FBINA jacket Phil. I was class 247 in 2011. We'll have to compare notes one day! Keep the videos coming. My wife and I plan to be full-time the January 2020.
Thanks for all the great info from all the different perspectives. We are soon to be retired and have our RV. We live in NJ and are planning to be on our way by late fall next year. We are looking forward to the adventures and learning curve as how to be more self-reliant with all the hopefully small maintenance problems. Thanks again for a great video packed with encouraging info. We can do it!!
What is your recommendation or thoughts on roadside assistance programs? We had Good Sam and had two terrible events that happened to us and Good Sam failed us each time. We have been Good Sam members for off/on over 20 years of camping and was very dissapointed when we finally had to use them. I am leaning toward FMCA membership right now. Could you do a vlog on camping memberships and road side assistance programs. Maybe give a number of recommended ones and ones to avoid. (If you want more info on our particular problem, just message me or email. Also, love your videos. You two remind me of my wife and self.)
I would love more info on this myself. We would not be very informative on this subject since we have not had to use it (thankfully). We do have roadside through our insurance and Good Sam. I will had this question to our next series so we can get a lot of different perspectives. Hopefully, it will help others.
Great suggestions, wish I’d had this advice before we started, unfortunately we learned some of these the hard way! Thanks for the great video, like the compilation style.
But just think of what a resource you will be for others. We know how helpful this community can be when someone needs help! Thanks for watching and safe travels.
Great video, seeing how much room with the slides in. Chances are there's very little room to get through with the slides in... I personally hope to buy one old enough not to have the sides. It will save me headaches down the road... I don't take up much space... LOL.. Thanks for the time you kids spent making this video and sharing it... You kids have fun and be blessed... BBE ….
I know quite a few people who decided on a rig so they didnt have to worry about the slides. That is what I love about this life. There is a rig for all of us!
Learning so much from you two, great info. Starting to look into potential options for down the road. Love the idea of renting 1st. Stacy has anyone told you you look like Jennifer Aniston?
OMG!!! Such power and energy!! You guys rock!!! What a wonderful video!! What an idea! So professional! Amazing!! Hahaha!!! When I grow up I want to be like you!!!😂😂😂 Thanks so much for 🙏 these “feel good “ videos! Manny out!!
You may have addressed this, however, what did you do with your years of military awards, going away plaques, supervisor gifts for the hero wall and desk?
There were a few things we kept in a small storage unit. Although, Phil did purge some of his military stuff we kept all the important stuff and his sea chest.
You, Me & the RV well lived in military housing most of the time and only bought two and built two. Lol. But we so can’t wait to get one more trip to Europe in next year and then game on in the fall
Thanks! Isn't it awesome how many different ways there is to RV and how many different RVs there are! Thats why I love this lifestyle. There really is something that fits everyone.
May I make a request/suggestion, if you can do this, and I don't know UA-cam's restrictions; can you make it so when you click on a 'link below' it opens a new window to view the page/site? I don't like leaving your page to view another; I'd rather it opens a new additional page. I hope that makes sense. Thank you!
It's a good idea to make them as far in advance as you can. But, I never plan to far ahead and things seem to work out. Sometimes I plan a week out sometimes I book while driving to a location. It just depends on the place and the season. I also have to consider the length of my RV and if I want space to put my patio down. The best advice is to plan way ahead. Reservations only cost about $25 to get and most can be cancelled the day before arrival for a refund. Of course every RV park is different. Hope this helps Karen! - Brandi
My question is, what do you all plan to do later in life? We want to full time RV when my husband retires in 4 years, but he is nervous about not having a sticks and bricks home for when we are " too old to RV." The idea of selling off all our stuff and really downsizing scares the bejesus out of him, lmao. Me on the other hand, I can let it all go and welcome the freedom! Was it scary to make the decision and actually do it? Please let me know your thoughts. :)
We figured we could replace all the stuff later. We put the money from the sale of our house in the bank, not a penny went towards the RV. When we are ready to stop full timing and buy our next house, we will be ready. It was scary at first, but once we realized it was just stuff that can be replaced.....out it went. Start small or in one room first.....that helps. Good luck.
Any idea how i can find an expert who can help me inspect a used travel trailer before buying so i dont buy something bad or water damaged? I live in the st louis, mo area.
Go to the NRVIA website and look for the inspectors tab and do a search on your area to see who pops up. If no one is near you, contact Stephanie Henson via Facebook and she can point you in the right direction.
If you are going to Change Your Life and living arrangement from a concrete foundation to a rubber one, you have to imagine what Every Moment of Your Life will be like NOT just the fun stuff. Set aside some undisturbed time, sit down, close your eyes and imagine every hour of every day, of every week, of every month and every year. Not the fun stuff, but the moment to moment life you live now, but in a completely different environment. How many times will you move in a year and what it will take to accomplish that. Again, not the excitement of the change but what it will take to pull it off. When you have gotten in touch with reality, Have A Fall Back Plan when you realize You Have Made A Mistake!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "Oh NO! I gave all my stuff away! Now what? I wonder if they will give it back!"

If your talking tow able RV's do not have to little truck as a tow vehicle. Payload capacity will be the limiting factor in max tow capability.

October will be here before you know it! And yes it is scary. You are going against every thing you were taught to do! Once you get in your RV and drive away from the curb for the first time you will know it was totally worth all the stress! I hope you love it as we do!
Great video! Wonderful advice! Thank You!
Thanks Jenn!!!

Thanks! Great idea for another video series. I just filmed a couple talking about why they chose their trailer. It would have been great to show a couple of things they would change if they could. Thanks for watching and safe travels.
That was an excellent video, great see some of our favorite UA-camrs have a meeting of the minds!
Thanks for watching! We really appreciate all their insight.
EXACTLY! You are spot on. This is exactly what we were referring to! I hope you had fun and got some great ideas. We hope to go down there next year.
@@JodysJourney That is funny!!
Again you two knocked out of the ball park very informed to here it from other Rver's and I have doing my research or as some would say my home work
Thanks!
This was great. I would love to full time someday and this video and future ones will definitely help me as I plan my someday
That is so awesome! I am so glad it is helpful.
I like the FBINA jacket Phil. I was class 247 in 2011. We'll have to compare notes one day! Keep the videos coming. My wife and I plan to be full-time the January 2020.
Its right around the corner! We will see ya on the road!
You can do it!!! Thanks for watching!
Rent one first is great advice
Yep great way to get your feet wet and know what to expect.
Awesome video - Nice to see additional points of view/tips in one place. Thanks guys.
Thanks for watching
So cool to see all the different perspectives from all walks, awesome video
Thanks friends!!
Always look forward to the excerpts, good job! Keep on Keeping it real!!
Those are the easiest part!
Thanks for the new series! Love you guys. Also, check out keep your daydream.

Thanks for joining us!
Really like the new series, looking forward to next week. Great information!
Thanks! I hope it is fun and informative!
We are counting the days before we hit the road. Hope to run into you. Thank you for your videos. Great content. Very entertaining.
Nice! We love it. I hope you love it just as much!
Learning so much from you two, great info. Starting to look into potential options for down the road. Love the idea of renting 1st. Stacy has anyone told you you look like Jennifer Aniston?
There are a lot of rental options out there. It might help you decide how much space you really think you will need. PS thanks for the compliment!
Good tips all. I think this will be an excellent, useful series.
Thank you!
So fun to meet you two. Happy trails!!
Nice to meet up with you guys too! Hopefully, we will bump into you again and be able to chat a bit longer! Safe travels
OMG!!! Such power and energy!! You guys rock!!! What a wonderful video!! What an idea! So professional! Amazing!! Hahaha!!! When I grow up I want to be like you!!!😂😂😂 Thanks so much for 🙏 these “feel good “ videos! Manny out!!
Thanks so much! You are so kind! Thanks for watching and safe travels
I'd have to agree with Chad. Use an RV Show for research.
Awesome idea. Love the format!
Thanks
Awesome production and great concept. We launch 1 May!
Yay! That is just around the corner! So exciting
You may have addressed this, however, what did you do with your years of military awards, going away plaques, supervisor gifts for the hero wall and desk?
There were a few things we kept in a small storage unit. Although, Phil did purge some of his military stuff we kept all the important stuff and his sea chest.
Who's the REAL boss and who's pretending? LOL! This will be a great series.
Hmmmmm....
Thank you so much! This is going to be GREAT!
Thanks for watching
Research, research, and more research. Like real estate location, location, location.
That pretty much sums it up!
Love it this ought to be a great series! We are on our count down and I think that’s being stressful ugh.
It is stressful but it is stressful every time you buy a new 'house.' This is so much worth it!
You, Me & the RV well lived in military housing most of the time and only bought two and built two. Lol. But we so can’t wait to get one more trip to Europe in next year and then game on in the fall
@@rogerkern Europe is still on our list as well! We just love exploring
Good video! Your style of RVing is very different from ours but I do always enjoy the content of your video's. Nice job on your You Tube channel.
Thanks! Isn't it awesome how many different ways there is to RV and how many different RVs there are! Thats why I love this lifestyle. There really is something that fits everyone.
I truly enjoy your channel. Thank you !!!
Thanks so much!
Great job guys!
Thanks friend! Hope to see ya soon
May I make a request/suggestion, if you can do this, and I don't know UA-cam's restrictions; can you make it so when you click on a 'link below' it opens a new window to view the page/site? I don't like leaving your page to view another; I'd rather it opens a new additional page. I hope that makes sense. Thank you!
I do know what you mean. I can't do this on my end but you can do it with your browser. I am not sure the steps for you but you can google it.
good video, lots of informative information from full-timers.. thanks
Thanks for watching!
Love the new series!!! YAY!
Thank you!
Great to see chickerys on here , they came by, and we all went to have pizza
We love Sean and Julie! Aren't they just amazing people!!
How far in advance do you make your reservations to the location you are headed to?
It's a good idea to make them as far in advance as you can. But, I never plan to far ahead and things seem to work out. Sometimes I plan a week out sometimes I book while driving to a location. It just depends on the place and the season. I also have to consider the length of my RV and if I want space to put my patio down. The best advice is to plan way ahead. Reservations only cost about $25 to get and most can be cancelled the day before arrival for a refund. Of course every RV park is different. Hope this helps Karen! - Brandi
That was a good one! Thanks!!!
Thanks for watching
Love the content , but my fav is the bloopers 😹at the end !
The end is the easiest part!
I want to be in Phil and Stacy's gang cause they're cool.
keith banks Me and my husband too! 😊
We are now taking applications! hahahah
You, Me & the RV You crack me up. Ha ha. Hi Tara and Chad.
This is sooo helpful. We are beginning our RV adventures in March. 😎 Won’t be full time but hoping to be RVing at least 50-60 days a year. Thanks!
Sign us up as well!
Great idea for a series.
Thanks
Awesome video!
Thank you!
I love hearing why we should go full time. Thank you!
That goatee didn't last long😀
Outstanding...
Thanks
I'll be on the Obo LOL.
Home run 👊👍😎
Thanks so much! I hope you like them all!
hello from Cabot Arkansas do you guys have a home base that you can return to if needed
Our home base is San Antonio. We go there for medical appointments and such.
