Brah, Theodore Roosevelt; though a "progressive" told everyone the meaning of assimilation. As a citizen you were to become American & become a part of American culture. Nature American Indians are a bit different but they too understand the importance of having a harmonious culture for unity. Most Indians understandably didn't want to assimilate because it was denial of their heritage & ancestors. But it was mostly because they believed drastically differently. American "blacks" were more associated because their ancestors didn't have a connection to the land and could easily disconnect from people & culture that lived in countries & land on the otherside of a vast ocean. Furthermore, it was presidents like Theodore Roosevelt who wanted Native American Indians to have reserved land for their own culture, land, etc. Native American Indians don't deserve sympathy if they're unable to do what Utahians did.
@JohnDoe003 Claiming that a people who were tribal and genocided "don't deserve sympathy" for not assimilating properly is ridiculous. Especially considering that Mormons killed Natives to secure that land in the first place. Many tribes such as those in the Great Plains were nomadic so being put at one location wasn't a viable option.

Mr. Beat raises an interesting point in the video about the speeches commonly referring to democracy, the constitution and other points. It raises the question, how different can inaugural addresses actually be? Often times the exact same phrases can be used over and over again. Or "Upholding the values of our American democracy and our constitution are the values we all hold dear, and I am committed to doing just that with my time in office." After a while, it may seem as if the presidents were all saying basically the same thing over the years.
