I have this vague recollection of a character getting killed, then having his clone show up in a drop pod, which crushed another player's character, whose clone then came in via drop pod, etc. etc. etc. until one whole generation of clones was dead in the space of a few seconds.

Paranoia is such a great concept, I gleefully remember my last time I played in a group (pre-covid), where I was a Big Brother loyalist made Hygiene Officer of our group, when our GM sent us to a mission outside; I had lots of fun cleaning the way we drove outside (we got a vehicle that thanks to me went about 1 km or mile per hour) as well as any items we found we thought we needed on our mission, and after we got into a fight with some strange mutants, the first thing I did when someone from our group was hit by an arrow was shouting *"CONTAMINATION!!! EXECUTE ORDER 65!"* and jumped to the injured person, pumping them full of cleaning regent, since we need to be absolutely sure not to get any outside particles inside the complex when we return.
Obviously, with my actions, the injured person didn't make it (well, the player had lots of fun roleplaying the effects of the cleaning agent and the other players laughed loudly about the whole situation, so I note that as a win in my book), but on the flip side, the launched capsule with his clone flew from the complex through the air onto the last enemy so we managed to get out of that situation too. Too bad, that when we came to the goal of our mission, an old ventilation shaft, which our leader should make some repairs, he threw a kind of gas bomb inside since his character forget what to do. Lets just say that when we came back, Big Brother wasn't very happy to see us.
Your group rocks! I spend a lot of time thinking about people who don't understand Paranoia. How much fun are they missing out on?
@@RPGImaginings Extremely much fun, I've played a lot of different systems and settings (a few examples GURPS, Lot5r, DSA, DnD, C'thulluh, BESM, VtM, Werewolf, Star Trek, Star Wars, ...) but Paranoia is one of the most fun, if not the most fun one in terms of humour.
Sadly, due to the big C, we couldn't meet for a time and everyone's schedule changed, on top of that, our GM graduated and went out of town. It looks like this group will never come together again.
So my tip for everyone who has a Paranoid group or a chance for playing it: do it, and cherish it. It will provide for a lot of fun times.
I bought an old version of this game in like 1987 from some kid’s older brother at school but I never had anyone to play with and I didn’t quite understand the rules. I was like 11.

Paranoia is a wonderfully fun change of pace. I highly recommend everyone at least playing it once. We really had a blast with the original. Looks like the new version is pretty solid. Thanks for the review and reminder to get the new version.

Exactly. We can't possibly have fun getting in the way of serious and intensive game playing. What do they think this is, RECREATION? Absurd.
Hey nice to see people enjoying paranoia still! I played in the early 90s. I liked it because I had trouble getting into the theatre/cosplay of the usual rpgs - this was legitimately fun to play even if you think rpgs are corny.
