The Sonotone 9ta is the best ceramic cart you can get. I still have a 9ta HC (high compliance) and it tracks perfectly at 1.5g. You won't find another ceramic cartridge that sounds as exceptional as the Sonotone 9ta. Have you got the HC or LC version? HC tracks very well on a heavy arm at 1.5 to 2.5 grams. LC tracks much higher at 4 to 5 grams and the suspension is more rigid.
Hi, did you connect the sonotone cartridge directly to the turntable? Or did you use the impedance matching circuits provided bu thw sonotone brand in 1960. Thank you.
@@Ramon-fp8wp it’s a ceramic cartridge so can be used in any system that has a ceramic cartridge. The early valve units used a crystal cartridge but most used a ceramic cartridge.
Hi and thank you for the great informative video. Currently I am trying to restore my grandmas original magnavox record console. It has the Sonotone 21T just like you show. Where can I get a suitable replacement? The whole cartridge setup is what I would need. Thank you so much. I want to surprise my grandma and would like any information that could help me 🙏🏽
9TA is the Best ceramic cartridge ever produced. I use one on my component stereo system

Hi! nice work!
Just a personal curiosity: does the Sonotone 21 sound louder than the better Sonotone 9TA? or Am I wrong ?
Thank you! regards!
I have not noticed volume differences. Still working out why a very old 9TA has stunning heights compared to a NOS 9TA.
@@phantomrose1999 thank you!
Have you tried the Goldring GXS17? It is a 9TA replacement cartridge.
Never heard of it, but will try.
I have found 2 different replacement cartridges on offer in Australia while googling.the Goldring GXS17 $75 and part #S9T $67.24.
