This wasn't the fight anyone wanted to see, it could have all been part of a big controversy for all we know, but still he took the fight. Pacquiao took the fight knowing ugas was a threat only having one week to prepare for the fight after having several to prepare for spence. He was at a disadvantage from the start. Regardless of the set backs he still took the fight and fought through 12 rounds. Manny Pacquiao is an all time great and I'd say top 3 greatest of all time from achievements alone. Ugas was preparing for Fabian Maidana also who it right handed to now face a lefty in Pacquiao on short notice. Pacquiao is used to fighting right handers and had to prepare for a left hander Spence. I say, it was the style. Ugas didn't over react to Manny's feints and punches which eliminated Manny to capitalize on mistakes. He didn't punch for the sake of punching. He countered Manny and made each punch really count. If it's Errol, it would probably be different since Spence would like to punch and punch --which I believe creates angles for Manny to attack.

I'm not even a major Pacquiao fan even though I definitely do like him. But I think the biggest reason he came off rusty in this fight was not age! It was being out of the ring for 2 years then taking on a world champion! That will get anybody beat. You're supposed to take soft fights before you dive into the deep end. Not even Floyd or any fighter in history can do that and be successful. It's what got Thurman beat by Pacquiao and what got Pacquiao beat tonight against a very active world champion.

Congrats Ugas! For Pacquiao, I knew from the start you had an issue. As I started noticing you were not moving that much since round 2, we closely check your corner from round 3 and confirmed before the start of round 4 you complained about your legs. Then I knew your speed will not be in play for the rest of the rounds and that was not Pacquiao we used to be. I even thought you will be down got out balanced from Ugas' throws but fortunately you did not. You got the tank.
As a 39 year old man, 2 years younger than Manny. Sometimes I do sit here and ponder what are my limits now at my age, apart of me tells me that I am young, though my body doesn't respond the way it used too. I guess it's a human condition that we want to try to push the limit to see or experience a glimpse of our old self, hoping somehow by doing the things that made us great in the past would allow us to delay feeling that we are old. I think that is why Manny keeps fighting, it's his own way of dealing with his existential crisis of an aging man.

I say, it was the style. Ugas didn't over react to Manny's feints and punches which eliminated Manny to capitalize on mistakes. He didn't punch for the sake of punching. He countered Manny and made each punch really count. If it's Errol, it would probably be different since Spence would like to punch and punch --which I believe creates angles for Manny to attack.

Guys This was a SET UP! Ugas was planned to fight PACQUIAO from the very beginning. He must’ve been training for a year! Did you see the coincidence? Errol with eye injury, Ugas opponent with eye injury, WBA belt given to ugas. So that manny was forced to fight him. Change of opponent less than two weeks notice but Ugas knew very well how PACQUIAO fought. Ugas knew every move every feint, every thing that Manny does. It was well planned. It was set up so that they could pass the Torch to someone else but they can’t fool us fans. I feel bad for Manny fighting bigger, younger and stronger guys. Against all Odds and still being SET UP! I'm not even a major Pacquiao fan even though I definitely do like him. But I think the biggest reason he came off rusty in this fight was not age! It was being out of the ring for 2 years then taking on a world champion! That will get anybody beat. You're supposed to take soft fights before you dive into the deep end. Not even Floyd or any fighter in history can do that and be successful. It's what got Thurman beat by Pacquiao and what got Pacquiao beat tonight against a very active world champion.

As I started noticing you were not moving that much since round 2, we closely check your corner from round 3 and confirmed before the start of round 4 you complained about your legs. As a 39 year old man, 2 years younger than Manny. Sometimes I do sit here and ponder what are my limits now at my age, apart of me tells me that I am young, though my body doesn't respond the way it used too. I guess it's a human condition that we want to try to push the limit to see or experience a glimpse of our old self, hoping somehow by doing the things that made us great in the past would allow us to delay feeling that we are old. I think that is why Manny keeps fighting, it's his own way of dealing with his existential crisis of an aging man.
Aging isn't a crisis. You either accept it or you don't. Manny's not stupid, of course he knows he's aging. You find other ways of dealing with aging. And I'd say he's doing extremely well. He's still at the rop of the welterweight division, at 42 years old. Ugas was 160lbs on fight night. That's middleweight. So Manny, at age 42, just fought an extremely close fight, against a middleweight.
So your point doesn't really stand. I'm 44 by the way. I can still do everything that I did in my 20's. I'm also more injury free, as I know how important it is to look after myself. Something I didn't do in my 20's.
