Thank you all for watching. I found the this place so interesting. I learned a lot about Prison history and life for both the inmates and guards. Hope you enjoy as much as I did. Apologies for the image quality at the Prison Museum. Humidity was high enough to get moisture on the lens.
Ive been inside The Walls on my way home after setving time in TDCJ. Another thing you didnt mention thats fanous on the inside if Hintsville are the "Golden Gates" that you walk throufh on the way out. They are shiny brass ba4s that the inmates jeep nice and shiny tesembling gilden gates
That would be "the Walls" not the wall. And if you count the state jail that you referenced from the museum, there are 8 units in Huntsville. Eastham and Ferguson farms are just across the Trinity River

Thank you for watching.
Back in the late 70s, they had a prison rodeo. Every Sunday in October. We loved going to it.

Thank you for the additional info. Appreciated!
The original building still stands, the red brick is encapsulating it. This made the walls higher and wider as well.
@@Texasbluestunes thanks so much for sharing. What a fascinating place to visit.
@@Texasbluestunes just prefer to be visiting on the outside 😀
Huntsville used to be the only place in Texas where there were prisons …my great uncle was a warden there
I’ve been to the Rodeo, but I’ve never been to the museum
The ones that rode wore stripes
Thank you for sharing. I appreciate it. I imagine your great uncle has some stories.
The rodeo would have been an experience. I was surprised by the caliber of musicians that played there.
You also failed to mention that the Texas prisons were self sufficient until around 1980
@@charliejackson922 thanks for the additional info. I didn’t know that.
Went to last prison Rodeo there George Strait sang 85 i believe

It's called an outside picket, not guard tower.
Thank you. I learned something new. Appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us.
