He’s taking too much time so we’re gonna let him walk all the way back to his ball in instead of hitting it, he’ll pick it up and then walk back to the drop area.
That made no sense. If the ball is moving someone should have opportunity to let it stop if playable. Now if there was a specific local rule for that particular hazard, that’s one thing…
THE DROP AREA BY THE OFFICIAL PUT THE BALL IN THE CENTER OF CEMENT, SHOULD LET HIM USE A DRIVER 2 LENGTHS AND HIT FROM THE GRASS, OFFICIAL MESSED HIM UP BIG TIME, SO GLAD GRILLO ONE IN THE END
You didn't show the best part of the story. Instead of feeling sorry for himself, instead of even practicing for a possible playoff, he was making a day to boys and their dad won't forget. Selfless, that's the real story.
18 only being a 440y hole. I would have hit a 2 or 3 iron. Only leaving myself a 6 or 7. Guys that just grab driver could learn a thing, or two from Grillo's endeavor.. btw because he still won is irrelevant to the point I'm making 😅
My buddy and I played a drinking game watching this. We call it 'spot the black guy that isn't working'if you spot one you have a drink.WE are still dry.
Doesn't Grillo have a 3-wood in his bag? With a two-shot lead there's no way I would have pulled a driver in the same situation. Because even a bogey most likely wins the tournament.
Some good players, even PGA Tour players, don't trust their 3 metal as much as their driver. Schauffele being one for sure; he even toyed with a gawd awful looking duck-hooking downward driver shot --about 260 off the tee--for a while
Grillo was actually pretty far in front -- you can see the final pairing on 16 as he hit his tee shot. It was possible for either Hall or Schenk to catch up with a birdie or two.
It’s a running water course what do they think is going to happen, follow it to the Gulf of Mexico until it stops ? the guy is waisting time and the officials are complicit, its a penalty tee it up again and get on with it, definitely the right message to be sending out to weekend hackers trying to salvage a 98 instead of a 96 absolute strikers.
@@TheAboriginal1 Wrong!!!!!!! He could have made a decision on his own at any time to either hit the moving ball or drop (earlier) where he eventually ended up dropping it (after all). It was taking awhile because he was waiting to see if it stopped. That would have made hitting the ball a lot easier (than hitting a moving ball). If the ball did stop, but he didn't like where it stopped, he can't wait for it to move and get to a more optimal spot. That would have been against the rule. Don't try and quote the rules when you have no idea what you are talking about. You will just end up confusing people who really want to know.
@@TheAboriginal1 Once again, you have no idea what you are talking about. Grillo was not waiting for the rules official to make a decision. It was Grillo's decision to make from the beginning. It was not out of his hands. The golfer decides what he wants to do based on the options that the rules will allow. Like I said before "Einstein," Grillo could have hit the ball while it was moving but he chose to see if it would stop as it would be easier to hit a ball that wasn't moving. He had that option to wait and see. Obviously, he couldn't wait for several minutes, hours, or days so ultimately he had to go back to where the ball originally entered the hazard and take his relief from there, according to the rules. That's how it works "Einstein." The rules official is there if the player has questions about a ruling and/or how to carry out his options according to said rule. Now go back to your mom's basement and play your video games. Leave the rules of golf to the people who know them and understand them. You're not smart enough to impart knowledge about golf because you obviously know nothing about it.
The rules officials are there for clarification only. The player chooses which option he wants to invoke in the applicable rule. When a ball enters a penalty area, the player has more than one option. No rules official can tell him which option he must choose. He can present the options, but he can't choose the one for the player. Now once again, get down in that basement. It's getting late little fella.
The pinnacle of how boring golf can be to watch lol. Watching a ball float down an aqueduct for 5 minutes.

Too bad ESPN+ cut the live stream with an 8- three way tie on 18. Never saw who won 😢

Grillo won😂😂
They are a clown show when it comes to ending and changing streams, so them cutting it off completely is no shock.

It was a Callaway.. notice the hat and attire who sponsors him.. furthermore.. Why would a pga professional be using .25$ cent golf balls?
Absolute farce!

The PGA had nothing to do with this.

He hit a bad shot, decision was fine. With that swing a 5 wood is also going way right.
