What I loved about this video is your communication. It's inspiring to see you guys bounce ideas off each other and only move forward. To me, that's the real secret weapon. Thanks for the video, Rhett.
I second that. Usually it is like: "Ooh, let's try something like that!" "Noooo, never, this is not possible, this is not how it's done etc." Permanent reverse gear.
I feel the same way. To me, it speaks to a group's talent when they can pull someone out of their usual tastes, and that's definitely the case with these guys.
Rhett, I'm 63 and been playing all my life, all different styles, and I got to tell you, these tracks you guys were working on sound fantastic. There's something there in that style of music that touched my soul. Can't wait to hear the final songs. ~Rough River, KY
@@RhettShull Been around longer than these dudes, and I really enjoy your videos; they're usually entertaining and informaive. That guitar reminds me of an Esquire; I'm a Tele man.
I agree. I love the Americana vibe. It inspires me to do some more songwriting. I’m a minister and church guitarist. I so want to see CCM shaken up and I think this more vintagey, rootsy sound is not just where I am as a player and singer, but someplace I believe solid Christian music should go.
Noah's songwriting is only going to get better and better and it's only a matter of time before he blows up on the southern/Americana/country circuit. His voice is too good for what he does not to get there.
Rhett, the production quality of your studio videos is spectacular. The sound is breathtaking, even in the booth-chat. The look behind the scenes and the way all of you discuss ideas and innovate on the fly is fascinating to watch. Kudos to Tilly for taking the camera off the list of things Rhett has to juggle in the studio, so he can make the sweet tones and we get an awesome video to watch with all the band-magic hanging out. Every one of the band musicians are so talented and work so well together, it is truly heartwarming to watch the sausage being made.
I think the Allmans and Little Feat would be proud that you are carrying on in that general territory. Love the songs, the playing and being allowed in as a fly on the wall from here in Sydney Australia
Love these new songs! The slide work was incredible always a nice touch but especially good to end this video. It's so encouraging to see a musician truly enjoy what he's playing.
Great to be a fly on the wall at an old school type recording session. (not counting the DAW) And a definite plus to watch a collaborative process rather than a “Here's the sheets” ”Play it like this” ; which would still be interesting but more sterile.
It's so great to watch the creative process as you guys bounce around ideas and somehow it turns into great music. Also props to Tilly for some awesome documentary footage. Not only was the music great, so was the camera work.
You’re honestly such a big inspiration to me and my music. Going out of high school I took two years off and started working in a factory for the money and I’ve hated it ever since and music has always been there for me. I auditioned for a school in Florida and now I’m pursing music and I’m so excited and happy about my choice. I just want to thank you and even if you don’t see this comment I still want to take the time to write it out for people that are in the same boat I was. “No plan b” 😉

I really like the bass sound on these songs, it’s mighty!
My god, maybe a video on how you learned to play so well? I'm sure there's people beside me who would be interested in learning how you look at the fretboard. Amazing stuff Rhett!
Music school and a lot of experience. Experience is the best teacher. Once you reach a certain level, you can start picking things up a lot faster and easier. Rhett also have a phenomenal ear, which helps a lot.
This video and its musical contents really makes me want to go to C Standard! Never really bothered with other tunings until now I'd say. Cheers for this one, and that Secret Weapon is quite a beauty!
So much soul!! Thanks Rhett and thanks to Noah and Good Trouble for allowing the cameras. Thanks Tilly for the professional filming. Looking forward to the final product. Have a great weekend everyone!!
I wish you’d just sit down and go through your favorite sounds. I come from blues and the early metal scene and your playing with your effects set perfectly has inspired me to try amazing new things. It feels good at 53 to keep growing. Please, videos on your effects and amps and how the guitar all gel with your technique. It’s so beautiful.
Those all sound fantastic. Such tasty licks on all the parts too. One at a time and before you know it, you have this lush tapestry of tone that just floats you away.
Great lyrics, vocals, guitar, bass, drums, tone, production values! How great is that. I love when a band records live and then adds overdubs. The energy is so high
This is for real some of the best content on UA-cam. Great music, behind the scenes, and gear! Keep this up man. Also C Standard has been my go to for creativity for awhile. It’s so awesome.
Really good intelligent musicianship with this guys. It sounds really good and everyone is contributing really well. You all work together really well. Stunning overdubs and solos too. These are great songs also. Looking forward to hearing the final mixed results.
Wow, that slide Les Paul solo got me. That was beautiful, I started tearing up for no reason, wow. Can't wait for the album now. And please tell me Hell or High Water is going to sound as massive as it does when you guys play it live in your videos
I can not wait for this album to drop. Such an inspiration. Thank you for this series Rhett it not only inspired me to do my own take on it “Behind The Wheels” but I’ve also learnt so much about recording etc that I’ve never ventured into as well as rejuvenating some of my thoughts behind my original music and gigging
wow!! undeniably cool!! watching you guys talk music and executing is inspirational...awesome!!!

I never really could understand guitars without a neck pickup. They just aren’t for me. Btw this video really makes me wanna listen to Loosegoats again. (Old Swedish band, but clearly influenced a lot by this kind of Americana music)
It's so fantastic seeing these songs come together, all the little changes that keep shifting and improving the overall end result...it must be hard to play songs live and then retool them in the studio and basically have to relearn them again...
I've been fortunate enough to have spent some time in the recording studio myself and I loved it, but it wasn't like this! The creative energy coming off this video is practically visible and the connection you have between you is just great to hear. Talent. That's what it's called. Long may it live.
My first video course, The Tone Course, is now available. Check it out here!

Thanks Patrick, it really helps when everyone in the band has a mutual respect for one another's talents and perspective on the songs.
Damn guys this sounds great, I'm not usually one for this kind of Americana type of music, but it's undeniably awesome!
I feel the same way. To me, it speaks to a group's talent when they can pull someone out of their usual tastes, and that's definitely the case with these guys.
@Owen Johnson You don't like the music, but you listen to this. Well... okay.
I agree 100% :) !!
@Owen Johnson Yep it's a gear ad for church rock types.
It is very American sounding. But not bad at all.
12:02 "Where is Joey Landreth when you need him?"
Haha, pretty much all I think of whenever I'm in the Studio.
I need a "bat signal" for Joey

Seriously, man. This is just so inspiring. Keep crushing.
Y'all's tunes are just great! I'm telling you, hang together! We need another great Americana, Southern, Rock band. Y'all have it!
Great stuff guys and thank you Till
Noah's songwriting is only going to get better and better and it's only a matter of time before he blows up on the southern/Americana/country circuit. His voice is too good for what he does not to get there.
Lol...or his songwriting gets worse. How do you make such a claim?
Unfortunately talent =/= success, hard work and time is what results in success
Good thing you guys aren’t bitter
Yeah, Ryan adams wrote loads more songs this guy can rip off. This one is a hatched job of “sweet illusion” off cold roses.
WE HEARD HIM SING ON HIS OWN.
Jarred Kiser 5:04
Yeah and it turns out that he can really sing.
And it's sounds good! You should do more backing vocals for Noah. And maybe someday we will hear you sing your own songs.

You’re a genius Rhett. Every part is the EXACT right part you think up. I can’t believe your tone. Consider me a Good Trouble fan from here on out.
VX84 genius?
Is that the band?
Coffee, cake and Rhett SHULL ... cool Saturday afternoon !👍
Jay McDanieL Germany 😄
Jay McDanieL 10:00 AM for me in Texas
Thats the NAMM guitar!!!!!! It is mine! Don't even think about it!!!!!!
You’ll have to fight me for it!
There’s a lot of talent in that studio
I think the Allmans and Little Feat would be proud that you are carrying on in that general territory. Love the songs, the playing and being allowed in as a fly on the wall from here in Sydney Australia
Can't wait for these to be released. Perfect driving music for wintertime UK countryside 👍
Love these new songs! The slide work was incredible always a nice touch but especially good to end this video. It's so encouraging to see a musician truly enjoy what he's playing.
Bob Seger’s “Like a Rock” was the first thing I thought of. Non-cliche slide parts that just soar, and take the song with them. Nicely done.
Why is it all these songs sound magical?
They all sound wonderful!
Damn Rhett, you're playing some absolutely beautiful parts on here. Always a treat to see you play man!
Diggin the rootsy sounds you guys are getting - it really feels inspired! Looking forward to the album!
I'M YELLING AT MY SCREEN. THAT SLIDE PART IS THE HOOK. PUT IT IN THE HEAD!!!! It sets the mood of the song and then becomes the hook too!!!
It’s all about attitude to your craft. Great to see minds at work in harmony.
This album is going to be great, every single one of the musicians are just top class. I'm definitely looking forward to this!

Can you tell us your signal chain??
Matt from Mule is a great dude! Glad to see you with one finally.

Love this! Love the Joey Landreth nod to! The Bros are one of my favourite bands
This project just feels special. I CANNOT WAIT TO BUY IT
Great new music. Love the slide action. Fit's really well. Next album is going to be BIG!
Loving the new music! Keen to hear the full album!

Really cool to see your process in the studio. A real collaboration. ...
Can’t wait for this album. Great job, congrats and thanks for sharing
RS....slide at 16:40 would make Dickie Betts proud...soaring and SOULFUL...and the rivolta...next level
Greetings from England. A steady afternoon beer and another quality Rhett video to watch. Cheers 🍻
Some awesome music you guys are making together. A breath a fresh air in an era of over-produced pop.
I can't believe you got the Solus, god damn that guitar was special at NAMM.
It’s on loan unfortunately

Great to see the evolution from Holland to today guys. Thanks for taking us along Rhett, loved to hear the guitars you brought. Kudos to all you guys.
They sound awesome. Nice to see the development of a song.
Sounds amazing. Solid musicianship throughout.
Wow, wow, wow! Great group arrangements, and Rhett, you are killing it with those guitar tones!
Great lyrics, vocals, guitar, bass, drums, tone, production values! How great is that. I love when a band records live and then adds overdubs. The energy is so high
Man I am loving these songs. Love seeing these videos creating songs in the studio.

That dobro/resonator guitfiddle sounds good bro! And yes, the new prototype sounds killer too!
I agree Rhett, these are the best songs I 've heard you play on and your best playing to date!
Great vocals, guitar tones, and notes. Looking forward to the finished product.
I’m a metal guy... but I gotta say this sounded REALLY good!!! 🤘
I absolutely love these videos in the studio Rhett! Keep up the good work buddy

Absolutely top notch. No bitchin or griping just positivity to the final take. Inspiring thats all. Best wishes from the UK.
I seriously can’t wait to buy this album.
Man U guys sound great
super great! note choices are distilled with all your years of shredding. Mimicking mama on the porch calling out for supper.
Wow, loving the sounds and songs!!! Music at it’s finest!!!
Love this episode ....would like to see more in-studio stuff!
Wow that slide solo at 16:36, freaking love it dude!!!!

14:11 reminds me of Chris Cornell’s Whem I’m down. Love it!
Wow! The tones and playing on this are phenomenal Rhett.
Noah’s vox sounds so so good on these tracks! Crazy cool vibrato and killer range too.
This sounds really good. Thanks for the studio share!
Very cool!!
Like those tones from your Baritone !! Great stuff
Noah is such a great singer/writer. Soothing voice.
