Back in my childhood days when this was one of the games I played a lot. Introduced me to the other MarioKart games as well as the entire Mario franchise. MarioKart is my favorite Mario spin-off series.. ...and then there is MarioKart Tour.

Well yeah man i played the heck out of that game, you get a cool new background if you unlocked all the characters. If there were shy guys in multiplayer then of course there would be a shy guy to unlock
The Nepster. The problem is though this game just really doesn’t compare to the other games, you can’t just say mission mode makes the game complete when the drifting and racing was really broken compared to future entries plus the items have very few to no animations making the game very bland and incomplete plus the Icon feature was later updated to miis which offered far more customization and if you ask me this game had one of the least innovative and least memorable rainbow roads in history, plus the karts in this game may look cool but they don’t do anything. Where as in future entries to the series if a kart had wings or a mouth they would have animations. The tracks in the game also felt very unfair since you could get hit once and be severely punished, the new items in the game were not that good especially the blooper and the Bullet bill was just an extra way to get screwed over by opponents in the back, I will say though this game added some good characters but the game just feels bland and unfinished.
Dark Hour Probably part of the reason is cause the characters in MKDS make more sense. You have the original 8 (MK64) plus Daisy, Waluigi, Dry Bones and the special guest star R.O.B.. In 7, Waluigi isn’t playable for some reason yet Waluigi Pinball is their. Also having Wiggler, Lakitu and Queen Bee. (Don’t mind Metal Mario though)
Dark Hour I think another reason is the kart selection in the MKDS. You actually choose the Kart and not make your own (body, tires and parachute) like you do now in every new Mario Kart game. Also creating your own emblem for your Kart is fun and creative.

I remember bragging to my friends about having Shy Guy when I was a child because they didn't. I was like 'I have Shy Guy and YOU don't!' Only later did I realize it was because I got the digtial version. The good days.
I like how he doesn’t move on to the next character until he gets 1st place 🤣. Great commitment lmao. Also many reasons I love DS rainbow road you can push off lightweight karts so easily off the track 😂😂 3:47
I remember Shy Guy is an exclusive character. You can only play as him in Multiplayer if you happens to not own the game. You can only play as him but he doesn't have a specific color. But I always assume his default kart was the white one. Wished he was playable

I like how every character has a specific car that matches with their look or something else. And then there is Dry Bone with a friggin Tank.

This was the best Ballon Battle and they messed it up with the newer balloon battles
