- The WWF No Mercy/AKI Engine-inspired game "ULTRA PRO WRESTLING" dropped their latest showcase this past weekend, and here is our reaction to it!

To see Bull Nakano, Hayabusa and especially Kanyon in a modern day PW Video game just makes me happy. Hopefully this project will take it's time and succeed to be a BANGER❤
For this to be Bull Nakano's American Pro-Wrestling video game debut is a crime!!
You can technically say Hayabusa R.I.P. was in WCW/nWo Revenge, but it's not the same as him actually being licensed and paid for being in a U.S. game. Naturally, I hope his family gets the fruits of his labor.
Great to see Mortis/Kanyon R.I.P. return to a Pro-Wrestling video game in the U.S.
Hell, even Barbarian makes a return after last being in Revenge

Its pretty sweet to give a lot of forgotten wrestlers some shine in a game.
Shame yikes can't use the aew game engine and help achieve this.
@gammergq9741 the gameplay is there. It's just bare-bones and kind of a half-ass attempt at rekindling something that can't be duplicated without real care behind it

I've seen people get confused when they see Masked Superstar and Krusher Krushev, or not know who they are.
Masked Superstar is Ax
Krusher Krushev is Smash
I like that game developers are making their own wrestling games and signing on willing Indy talent and legends willing to participate.
I'd LOVE to see throwback arenas/venues too. Like THE SPORTATORIUM in Texas, The Memphis arena Lawler used to sell out, THE OMNI, THE COW PALACE, THE SHOWBOAT, MINNEAPOLIS CIVIC CENTER, THE PHILLY PA CIVIC CENTER, THE PHILLY PA SPECTRUM, REUNION ARENA, etc
I've seen people mentioned AEW-FF.
But my take is, this game could be what the Legends of Wrestling Series SHOULD'VE BEEN.
I feel like all LOW was missing was better move sets for each wrestler. They gave each wrestler 4 front grapple types with 4 moves but everybody only actually had 1 or 2 per type.
@wesleysteeleiv it's bc it ran off the old Acclaim engine, with SOME tweaks.
There was A LOT missing from The Legends of Wrestling Series of video games unfortunately.
It was such a great idea though.
I'm hoping this game is the evolution of LoW. Maybe a "No Mercy and LoW hybrid"
@@PontFlair the way the wrestlers move and do moves, it looks kinda like WCW Vs The World. Which ain't a bad thing either.
Yeah DLC roster made me think that a lot of these guys would be in a modern Legends of Wrestling game
@wesleysteeleiv That's not bad at all. I had that game when it came out.
It didn't have a lot of modes but it was the start of the AKI Dynasty on N64.
This gameplay and list of modes was what I wanted Fight Forever to be.
What modes?
I didn't see any match modes on this video
Past videos showed cage match, battle royale, triple threat, fatal four way, and tornado tag. With multiple man tag

The gameplay of fight forever is noice... Aki style with Modern touch.. but there is nothing else to do in the game .. no game modes... Terrible career mode... Also the matches end way too soon 😢

that is actually one of the best dlc's I've ever seen for a wrestling game hands down. being able to play as bull nakano in 2023 is a fever dream

It would be awesome if they included some of her peers too.
A team like Jumping Bomb Angels, or some other people who may have inspired her to take up "The Graps".

DLC looks wild, that's some deep choices right there. Looks promising, be good when it's more polished
With the exception of Cardona, and Warhorse (who I don't care for), that DLC list was mega impressive.
I've posted this, but I like how the DLC crossed Eras very well. A lot of these guys could have crossed paths and wrestled each other easily had they been in the same place at the same time. Some of them were in the same places.
That's pretty f****n awesome.
The way the story is presented is you move through the 80's, 90's, 2000's

The Snake as a weapon may be worth thinking about 🤔
Whether biting or squeezing the opponent, that would be very cool. Or even putting fear into the wrestlers, distracting them for Jake to get the advantage
What about the bag being an item you can pick up, and at the cost of a Special, you can sic the snake on your current target. Kinda like Guapo in Far Cry 6.
@SouLeozinho that's a good idea. Add in, if you have 2 specials, you can use Damian R.I.P. or Revelations to strike petrified fear into the opponent, then hit the DDT
Greatest DLC lineup for a wrestling game ever, and apparently there's more to come. Love the original characters like Gorudensai, Fireheart and "Blue Collar" Bill Dollar.
All the DLC wrestlers are cool but I hope it's not priced too high. Also a CAW is going to be a big factor in this game surviving. They showed some alterations you can do but people are going to want to make current wrestlers. It'll be tough to get people caring about Bill Dollar.
Every base character is editable just like in the AKI games. Our goal is a sandbox wrestling game :)

To be fair this is just pre alpha showcase. I'm sure there is plenty more to come with this game.

Man if they had licensed music, that would be CRAZE!! Hell if they have awesome covers of those songs, it would be awesome.

There are mid-carders that I would say we're Legends in their own right.
I like this roster so far. With the exception of Cardona and Warhorse 🙄, this roster is strong. There are people who were big names even as mid-card talents
@@PontFlair You should have a look at the Wrestling Codes roster, it’s fucking lit as fuck. Unfortunately though a release date is up in the air and no one knows when it is.

dude that gameplay and the DLC really makes me want this, Candido, Bull Nakano, Crowbar, Louie Spiccoli, Sandman all in an AKI style game rules so much
The gameplay needs tweaking and a bit more attention to detail. Love what I've seen so far.

DUDE this is a crazy way to promote their game. You know damn well I'm subbing on Patreon and buying the game and DLC
I watched like the first bit and i was like. Yep they nailed it pack it up and ship it. They understand the how to make the impact and make animation sitffness to work in their favor. Its really nice and the sounds effects are great.
I'm sold on a lot of what I saw in this short video. No doubt.

The movement so far, the way the mat and the ropes move on impact. The cartoony look even. I'm excited to see what other tweaks, what other things they add etc as they continue the process of making this game.
I truly hope this game plays great and is successful.

I don't remember which Japanese games she appeared in previously. But I KNOW she was never in any Pro-Wrestling games in the U.S.
Which is an outrage bc despite the language barrier and the fact she barely wrestled in the States, she IS influential. And an inspiration for a lot of women's wrestling today (the ones who do it right).

The reason why fire pro still sells even with it's complex controls is because you can create literally any wrestler in the world living or dead
Maybe this game will be able to do "Fire-Pro" type stuff, but with easier controls.
@@PontFlair if it's aki the controls are simple, they didn't show much from the CAW showcase, Action Arcade Wrestling has one of the most indepth CAW suites (but you can only experience it on PC) if this game has 1/2 of that is going to be good
Fire pro has a weird learning curve. It's super rough at first but you can master it fairly quickly
@mh43 Fire-Pro and King of Coloseum play very similar. Both made by Spike.
But you're right, once you get it, the games play great
WGGP in Ultra Pro Wrestling would be sweet.

An old school style game. I think it's got good potential.

And see more movement to the turnbuckles as the wrestler/wrestlers climbs them.
Whether jumping off "Bret's rope" or jumping off the tope rope, I'd love to see more movement from the turnbuckle pads and ropes as the wrestlers jump off of them.
Incorporate some of the things from the Wrestle Kingdom series as far as rope movements, ref interaction, etc

I've learned my lesson, I was hyped for 2k23 and FF but they weren't what I hoped for in a wrestling game. Don't get me wrong they are good games, it's just something was missing. The best wrestling game imo is still No Mercy! But this does look good! And I always wanted to play as Hayabusa
This game has potential
Hayabusa is on some Japanese wrestling titles.
Not sure of all of them, but I know he's a playable character in Wrestle Kingdom 2 on ps2. Made by Yukes.
Played like No Mercy/Def Jam Vendetta/Day of Reckoning 1 and 2, but w/o the match types like Steel Cage, Ladder, etc.
His character was definitely a pretty good simulation of him w/ his look and moveset.

I've always been vocal about not giving a flying toss about graphics as long as the gameplay is good... and it **looks** good so far.
You guys should check Casual Pro Wrestling, a wrestling Game with ragdoll physics and imported 3D models coming out on december
DLC announced before its finished is a major "Meh" point for me, put me off buying AEW FF on day one
I believe the dlc for this game is people buy the character and there is a split between the wrestler and the company. As a small developer I doubt they have the money to just pay for legends outright.

The game's Free Agent roster looks fuckin' stacked, but like you guys said, the animations seem actually copy-pasted from the AKI games. I'm low-key starting to get a little worried the animations were just ripped straight from the AKI games, i.e. not being made by the devs at all.
They genuinely seem to be ripped straight from the AKI engine, I've seen that exact same thing on multiple other games trying to capture the feel of the N64 wrestling games and failing. I hope this one does it well at least.
I don't see the AKI engine games to be honest.
I see Legends of Wrestling Series and what that could've been. Had they matched all they had with wrestlers, arenas, Modes etc with gameplay, that game would still be alive today.
I just don't see AKI. BUT I do see Legends of Wrestling.
