With the new engine, it's feasible to squeeze out 250~ish hp and 200~ish torque without boosting and compromising the car's reliability, which is like the perfect amount for the car in near-stock form. I'm waiting to see the price and powertrain figures. Nissan have been kind of exaggerating the power figures upwards, and understating the MSRP to make the Z proto look like the most affordable power on the market. I've seen estimates as low as 35k for 400 HP. I won't hold my breath. That just seems unrealistic.
Holy cow that transition at the beginning was VERY satisfying!
i love the new toyota they still makin driving oriented car
How is this not #1 on trending 😭
Calling it - this is a future classic
See you in 9 years….
If they put the 2.4 TURBO, yeah
@@blueryxfalls7949 There are dozens of turbo vehicles, this will be a classic for not having a turbo! :)
You guys have some of the best PIP overlays I’ve seen on UA-cam. Great video!
I am considering switching my Civic Si with the NA Vtec to this one, the upcoming Civic Type R, or the new Integra. SO rare to have an FR car with a NA engine and manual transmission these days. Respect to Toyota:)
not waiting for the new Z?
@James Jamess New Z will probably be in a different price bracket, then again, dealer markup for all these cars will be crazy.
@@Thumplepuss Not really. The next-gen Type-R is getting a price bump and the Intgera is surely gonna be luxury car price.
@@Drew.DrivesYT twin turbo
@@Drew.DrivesYT there’s probably a huge price difference
86s are THE BEST, I am so glad to see the new GR 86 be such an improvement, they have just perfected the formula, now I can truly say that this is the PERFECT car for me.
Such a great review. 100% fueled by passion.
10:02 Yuri just called the problem out 2 years earlier. 😂😂😂
that cup holder is brilliant! no more dirt and dust falling into it, drinks not in the way of the shifter if u have a shorty shifter boi
I was already a fan of the FR-S and 86, but this video made me want to get from behind my keyboard and test drive of this car! This really showed how fun this car can be!
Lets all dump on Toyota GR perfection by calling it a car that you buy your kids
This is not a starter car! This is a final car!
I’ve been watching all of these first reviews in the GR86 and I am getting hyped up. It is making me think about trading in my 2013 Scion FRS. I’m definitely going to test drive this car when it comes out.
Did you get it?
The golden age of Japanese sports cars have returned. New supra, 86, Yaris gr, 400z
Yeah, no. The new supra is a BMW just labeled a Toyota, and the Yaris GR isn't a sports car. The 86 and 400z qualify, but they're not the 3rd gen supra, 3000GT, RX-7 and 300ZX.
The Boxster's name is also derived from the fact that it has a BOXer engine and it is a roadSTER.
Really, captain obvious? 🙀
Not obvious for me, so thanks a lot Cody!
Wow I didn't know this.
Thanks didnt knew it then
Just traded in my Camry for this Gr86, I’m in LOVE
I can’t wait for this review!
"going for a drive" transition to drifting on the track was very top notch
0:17 that transition was butter smooth
And a few seconds after that too
I love your reviews. A lot of smiles and so much enthusiasm. Unlike the other guys you show the laughs and bloopers which is ok because everybody makes mistakes. Just don't hide it and be a normal person behind the lens.
I would definatly buy this for the 18 year old kid I don't have.
If you did, you couldn’t.
Lmao
That 18 year old kid is in everyone of us
Kudos to you guys actually knowing about the Subaru oil pick-up issues
Can confirm BRZ (basically this car) in winter is AWESOME with a set of winters. 2020 BRZ with Vikingcontacts and it was a drift machine when I needed, and held straight when I didn't wanna drift (which was rare)
💯
Yoooo that Picture in Picture with the phone and drift is next level. Y’all still one of my favorite reviewers on YT
Well I guess we all know when the embargo was…geez, I got like 5 of these review alerts right at 7am on 8/17.
Thanks for watching ours
And it's funny how Toyota released theirs after Subaru but still no Subaru reviews. Thanks guys for giving us the first hands on review! 🙌
@@JEtienneMusic because there's a special tune input by GR team and Akio Toyoda to differ themselves with BRZ.
@@saltymonke3682 most excellent!
I cant believe the transitions in this video, amazing!
GR 86 I will take instead of the BRZ. A little extra power and torque is what I need for a rear wheel drive sports car.
Uhh, you know they're identical torque and power figures right? The first gen both had a 2.0L boxer, the second gen both use the 2.4L boxer. There is no mechanical difference between comparable model years of these cars. Unless you're comparing a new model to an older model, which nothing in your post actually suggests.
There is no mechanical difference between the new BRZ and the GR86, if there is any difference then it would be in the suspension tuning like the previous models
Toyota's whole GR lineup is so damn cool
hold up i didn’t pay attention so i just heard: “And were ready to die!”😂
Never been so excited for a review, maybe cuz I'm getting one!!! 💯💥😁🍾
What colour
@@TheStraightPipes I'm going with white, with the Limited packaging! 🤍 thanks for the awesome review!
This might be the third or fourth time I'm watching this video...
Both of my kids are college aged and have zero interest in learning to drive a manual. I am an old guy in my mid 60s and I might just buy one of these for myself.
Ooof, might look into this as my second car. Hopefully they don't still abuse the shortage excuse by next year for financing/leasing.
Yuri is doing donuts and yearning for more power. You know this car is special!
Instead of saying, “we gr going for a drive”, should’ve said, “GR going for a drive”.
Dear Manufacturers: If you pay close attention, you'll notice people are getting excited over a 228hp manual sports car. If you're wondering why, it's because it's inexpensive, simple and fun. Wake up.
I remember when gen 1 first came out. When Australia still had Melbourne/Sydney car show I went had a look. Looks way easier to get in and out of straight off.
This thing looks WAYYYYY better than the previous one
When my girls get old enough to drive they're getting a Lada...
Solid choice! They have some great RWD models. Here in central europe I see classic Lada models really tricked out and very capable.
Mine get a 240 Volvo Wagon
@@nycmaverick Also a good choice. Probably a lot safer than a Lada.
I blew my 2016 toyota brz and upgraded to a nismo 370z. After watching this video I'm for sure adding this car to my collection.
Boxer engine pistons dont "face" each other. The crankshaft is is the middle. Not 2 separate cranks
that would be pretty freaking awsome though lol
Editing is flawless. Give the editor a raise bro
To be honest, with the mic picking it up, it sounded like a rotary, im not alone right?
It's weird. It sounds so much better inside the cabin. I don't expect it to have a fake sound from the speakers.
So true lol a na 13b
@@morepanicboy7120 at least its real and not speakers they talk about it in the video.
@@morepanicboy7120 havent heard the GR86 in person so planning to test drive one *once this damn situation were in right now is over hopefully*
The fake engine noise or ASC (active sound control) in the new 86 is fake.
Its such a pain for me who lives in Brazil, see this car and know that i will never be able to afford buy one of these, the abusive taxes of over 100% in some cases for importation, and the low "purchasing power" of all the brazillians in general, well, that is our reality, fighting for me be able to buy my first car soon, thanks for everyone
I agree, this is the perfect first sportscar! Hopefully I can convince my brother to get one instead of a Mustang.
Lol let your brother get what he wants. Get what you want. Simple
@@interceptingfist5682 Hello mustang fanboy. Why do you care?
