- I finally upgraded to a filter system I'm fully satisfied with! These things are power houses.
Mine came a little noisy out of the box but I fixed it with a relatively simple solution that works well!
Two AC100 for one fish in that tank size. Vaseline in the o-ring. Yeah, this guy knows his stuff.
Goldfish make a huge mess. Ideally, he needs a bigger tank for it. They get fairly big.
Have Fluval and Cascade canister filters. Both sound like gravel in a tin can. Was going out of my mind cause they're in the bedroom. Went to the store and opened two brand new filters and plugged them in in the store to check the noise level. Horrible. Found this video. I have some plumber's grease and packed the sleeve with it. WOW! Instant noise reduction by 90%. Thank You Kurt!! Genius of the Day award!
I have a Fluval 110. Same exact filter. Noisy from day 1 and I tried waiting to see if it'd break in. Fluvol Customer Service outsourced, and couldn't care less about me or my fish. You're right though, fantastic filtration.
I am going to try this. My absolute last resort and I am just about losing my mind. If it works man, I'll frickin love you forever
Did it work for you?
@@djmitchell3938 no, sadly. I tried 5 times. Vibration sound still there. Mine is a bucket filter, and i triedaking the hole in the back wall bigger (so the tubing doesn't carry the sound by direct contact), used sound reducing mats, put the filter onto styrofoam, ... pretty much everything under the sun. Now i just unplug at night and whenever mh head hurts, might not be the best for the bacteria in the filter but at this point it is them or me 😂 also no fish to get sick from spikes, have a turtle and a huge watercolumn
An Actual video that was worth watching... good tips. you can buy Aqua one Lube for o rings and propellers. In the long run it would probably hold up in the water for longer than vaseline. however if it works, it works.
Way late fir sure but always use silicone Grease. Petroleum jelly will breakdown o-rings and other seals over time.
Thank you, this worked like a charm. Saved me from buying a new motor head.
I removed the plastic leveler piece from bottom from touching the glass. That right there was an issue for me. What I did was used air condition weather seal foam strips and put it between the filter and the glass. First it protects the glass by spreading weight of filter out instead of putting all the pressure in one spot from that plastic leveler. Then it removes all vibration and gives it a nice cushion keeping glass safe. Then i lowered my flow rate. That also reduces the noise level and lets water travel slowly through the media for more efficient filtration. Putting petroleum on the motor will do nothing but cause build up and slow the motor down over time. Been there, done that. You are better off keeping spare motor parts on the side for future use cause over time the motor wear will cause rattling. Hope that helps.
$7 on Amazon for a new 'post' for empeller.. I change mine every few years..
I had that issue so I got a new impeller rod cuz it was a bit worn. And I read that vaseline isn’t good for the fish and silicone lubricant for water applications Is better. And they even have food grade so you know it’s good for the fish.
that's a shit load of filtration for that size tank hahaha well done bro
Mierda
Cuz Goldfish
@Tanked Up. goldies shit a lot.
omg you saved me from total insanity. Thank you so much!!!
Thanks for the great tip! Mines was starting to make a lot of noise. Now it's back to normal..I use Lava rocks as my media..good stuff lol
hell yeah thank you mine was really loud, although it hadn't been used for awhile awesome filters
Vaseline is petroleum based. Which drys out rubber. Bad idea.
Use food grade lube instead
Er. . don't think you are supposed to put Vaseline on a rubber o-ring? It will dissolve it! In filters where the impeller
is situated before the filter media, a pre-filter sponge will reduce the likelihood of abrasive material (grit/tiny snails) getting into and damaging the ceramic sheath on the impellar.
FYI: Bubble wrap is an excellent insulator of sound and vibration.
@3:27 wait, you HADN'T done the Vaseline yet? that thing is quiet as hell compared to mine.
Vaseline on the shaft? Hmm... sounds familiar to me.
silicone grease that is food grade . commonly used in plumbing fixtures and cheap as hell another tip is precisely leveling the filter
Hah..interesting
DAM! I just tried pulling the steel pin from my Aquaclear 110 and it would not budge! I left it in for fear of making it worse.. any suggestions on removing that pin? I was using a good pair of pliers..
THANK YOU!
All the expert's say to put Vaseline on your o rings as it makes them last longer.good on ya bud nothing worse than trying to have a kip with an annoying little sound in the back ground.
use the media with the hole in the center, it works better.
Is vaseline safe to put in this part of the filter?
I traded mine in for a Seachem Tidal. Ain’t nobody got time to deal with this shit.
put a media bag over your intakes or a sponge.
I'd like to share with you a tip I've realized & told others: Take a piece of poly-vinyl hose--non-braided, of a inside diameter that slips over the elbow of your AquaClear's inlet--and use it to mount a sponge-filter, such as Cal-Flo's or ATI's, on the end of your intake. This will allow you to eliminate that bulky sponge from inside your filter, which in-turn will allow you to use more of other medias of your choice... Such as two-stage fliter-floss, to further "polish-up" you tank's water.
pancudowny that is an excellent idea! I'll have to make new video to show how my fish and tanks are Progressing
Get a Seachem tidal 110
Two 110’s for a tank that size and for ONE fish ???? 🤦🏻♂️
Terrible, terrible, terrible advice. Never ever use Vaseline or any lubricant on the impeller or impeller shaft. The Aquaclear is designed for the impeller to spin freely within a magnetic field being held in place with the impeller shaft in its proper place for effective rotation, resulting in optimum water pressure, and less noise. If you are experiencing vibrations and rattling noise then the most likely cause is a worn impeller shaft. Use pliers to remove and inspect. If worn in the middle then it needs replacement. The shaft can be a little difficult to remove and replace as it must sit in the motor housing without any movement. If it sits loosely and is easily removed then the motor housing has been damaged and the motor needs replacement. Very cheap compared to the price of a new unit. Only use silicone lubricant on the o ring.
No godamn idea what you are doing in so many regards, wtf.
Could have bought a bigger tank for the price of one of the pointless double 110’s
Over kill, only need 1 aquaclear 70.
A single Ac 100 on that tank would be overkill itself, I think you are unnecessarily wasting power.
