Haha absolutely! The nice thing is that the particular advisor that pops up gives me an idea of what they're going to say to me, so it narrows down the list of potential responses I would be giving in that situation, which is really handy when you're trying to make critical decisions in a split second
I love how the economic win condition is the world bank even though no one else in the world knows of the existence of rome and has no foreign trade lol
hello, im a big fan of Civ Revolution, and this make me think about how many times those advisors can jump only to bother us, i loved this speedrun and i will try to do it
@@ERO1964 I'm glad to hear that I've inspired you to attempt this speedrun! If you have any questions about the run and what you should be doing, I recommend joining the Civilization speedrunning Discord server, as it will be much easier to get answers to any questions you may have. As for the obstacles you've experienced so far, that's honestly pretty common. It took me several hundreds of attempts to get this run, not only because I needed to practice my routing and have my input execution be as tight as possible, but also so that I could get the RNG I needed to have a run as fantastic as this one. It takes LOTS AND LOTS of patience to get a run like this, so try not to get too discouraged! Also, don't be afraid to reset and start a new attempt, especially if you get encountered by another civilization early on. Once they know you exist, they simply will not leave you alone, even on the easiest difficulty. You just gotta keep making attempts until you finish a run that satisfies you!
Thanks to you, I’m going to clap all my buddies in record time with an economic victory lol 😂… awesome stuff man. Is Rome the Civ to pick bc they begin with Code or Laws? Also, what technologies did you switch by accident, and will it matter if I do the order you did in the video?
Haha thanks man! The main reason we like the Romans for this category is because they can build wonders at half their cost once they get to the medieval era, which includes the World Bank, but also a few others that get built along the way. As for the goof in the order of my technologies, I meant to choose Pottery, so that way you can go straight from the Colossus to the Hanging Gardens, but it ended up working out anyway because the Great Scientist accelerated my science so I could switch in time.
@@jacobsnyder2781 Hell yeah! If you have any other questions about the route for this run, please let me know, or you can join the Civilization speedrunning Discord server and ask in there, too
Is this the RNG being fully on your side? Every single game I have played has had me approached by another civilization within 5 turns and them getting hostile 3 turns later. The difficulty made no difference.
It would be really tough for the RNG to get any better than this. Not meeting any other civs is basically a requirement to run this category and get a good time. Getting the great people I did in the order that I did (scientist, explorer, humanitarian) was rather ideal. Also, there were plenty of water tiles around my city, which makes accumulating gold in the late game much faster. So yeah, really glad I was able to cash this in for the sub-5. This is going to be nearly impossible to beat without yet another re-route.
There is, but it's very small and even less active. Nevertheless, if you go to the speedrun.com page for this game, there should be a link to the Civ speedrunning discord in there, and that's where all discussion of running this game can be found
@@Whocares792 Oh yeah, online games are painfully slow. There's also barely any setting adjustments for online games, which is a real shame, because I would have loved to play more of this game online back in its day
Unfortunately, the only two buildings that the Great Builder cannot be used to rush are the World Bank and the United Nations. Honestly, it didn't matter which type of great person I got at that point, it was so late in the run.
All speedruns are typically done on the chieftain difficulty, mostly because there aren't any separate categories for game difficulty, so might as well go with the one that makes it less likely for the other civs to try to seek you out and/or harass you.
So I use a small and rather basic HDMI capture card to connect my Xbox One to my PC, and then I use OBS to display the capture and do the recording. OBS is free, and the capture card I use only costs about $40. Hopefully this helps!
Thanks! This speedrun is pretty intense, especially for how short it is. Getting a run as good as this one requires a ton of patience, because you never know when you're going to get that perfect RNG, so when you do you gotta stay calm and not blow your opportunity!
It's done on Chieftain difficulty, which is the standard for speedruns. It technically doesn't matter which difficulty you use, as the only runs you typically keep are the ones where you don't encounter any other civs, which makes how they would interact with you irrelevant, but I suppose the Chieftain difficulty just increases the chances of you being left alone, which is rare enough, so there's no reason to intentionally increase the chances of having a run get killed by unfavorable RNG.
You do begin the game with a warrior, but on its first turn, it gets sold immediately; not only is the gold useful, but we want to stay as isolated as possible, so sending him out to explore would be counterproductive AND a waste of precious time.
That's speedrunning though. Not every input is going to be perfect, especially when you're making split-second decision based on RNG. It's just part of the territory. At least it didn't cost me the sub-5!
@@excancerpoik yeah it hasn't aged terribly well graphics-wise, so I guess it's a good thing that I zip through the game so quickly, such that everything is a blur lol
Love how this speed run is basically the bearded man and his 50+ clones jumping in and out of screen
Haha my science advisor is definitely very needy! But he's also really important so we give him a pass lol
As a kid, I never realised how intrusive those advisors are, I swear 4 of them were on the screen at one point all speaking gibberish 😅

LOL true! It's just like in Civ VI how when you convene for World Congress sessions, you can have a meeting with "Unmet Player" ???

well... fck, i could do it in less than 15 minutes, and, 2 civilizations near me and i fkced up when they tried to steal money from me

We use to make fun of them
Civilization revolution has far better graphics than Civilization four by landslide
@@BABOY99Seriously? lmao
I agree, but to be fair, Civ Rev was released several years later on what would typically a much more powerful console, so it stands to reason lol
Congrats! Good run

Amazing seed!
It sure was! If only we had a way to manipulate the seeds to get the ones we wanted all the time...

Played this on Xbox live when I was home sick cause a whole game was 6 hours when I was growing up, you could make tea in between turns

Could have used the builder to rush a wonder then get world bank immediately
Unfortunately, the only two buildings that the Great Builder cannot be used to rush are the World Bank and the United Nations. Honestly, it didn't matter which type of great person I got at that point, it was so late in the run.
Just curious, what skill level was this on? I love this game so much and it brings back so many memories of my father and I

If it was based on bc era and not real world time, would you start with warriors to loot stuff?
You do begin the game with a warrior, but on its first turn, it gets sold immediately; not only is the gold useful, but we want to stay as isolated as possible, so sending him out to explore would be counterproductive AND a waste of precious time.
Awesome!!!
Thanks! Glad you appreciate it
couldnt you have used your great builder to finish world bank? then it would be even sooner
Unfortunately that's not an option, but if it was then yes, that would definitely slice a lot of time off of this run!
This looks better than Civ VI
Not at all 🤣🤣
Honestly can't tell if you're trolling or not... but I respectfully disagree
could have gotten it quicker if you didn't mess up on the button clicking a few parts.
