    I say get it fixed...If your bike is paid off, a fix is better than 4 to 5 years of new payments. However, the best thing about a new bike is peace of mind. Never having to worry about any major issues.

    Im wanting a bike. I've been looking at the new Indian Scout lineup. I love the looks and the price is reasonable for a new bike. Im currently 5"11 and weigh 370lbs. I am too big for the bike right now. Im embarking on a preolonged water fast(will consume vitamins and will cheat by eating a piece of candy to hopefully cure the nausea caused by taking the vitamin pills on empty stomach. Will also stretch out powerade in small doses for the electrolytes some people say is needed ) by my calculations, i should be able to not eat a meal for 316 days. Due to the stored energy. The bike will be my reward to myself for completion. Im taking time off for this venture to ensure its completed as safely as possible. New subscriber God bless!

    It's not a pressure leak, it's just a slow weep. Spray it clean with brake cleaner and a plastic bristle brush, then wipe black RTV silicone sealant over the whole bolt. While the silicone is wet, lick the tip of your finger and smooth it out till it looks good to you. Let dry overnight. BAM! She fixed for under eight bucks for supplies. 😉💪

    nooooooooo... That really sucks. What's weird is the unknown internal failure. I suppose you're already outside of warranty. Might also want to check with NHTSA to see if there's a recall. If not, may be worth reporting to NHTSA. Leaking oil can certainly be a safety hazard.

    I just went and looked at mine too see where your leak is coming from, mine is bone dry(knock on wood) but if mine started leaking i would get some carb it brake cleaner and clean every bit of that oil off and try to seal that off with some high temp silicone it seal it off with JB Weld as best i could without making a big mess, it honestly looks like a very small leak(looking at mine). But no way would i get rid of the bike just for that.

    Your Bike isn't over filled with oil? Easy to do on a Motorcycle if it sits for awhile oil seeps into crankcase, Also if you just changed oil and read it takes say 4 quarts and you pour that into the oil bag you could be overfilled because of what's trapped in crankcase. Overfilled oil seeps out from the weakest seal.
    Before tearing into it check the oil level hot not cold and leak may stop.

    • @TD205
      @TD205  3 місяці тому

      I don't believe it's overfilled. I changed it when I did my Saddlesore 1K back in March this year. I put 4.5, which is is what the manual states. Thanks for that information. My bike never sits. I ride year around.

    • @user-st4gq2ox8m

      @@TD205 Try running it at 4 qts. and I bet the leak stops. I have a 1299 Sportster and it leaks out the rear rocker box. The manual calls for 3 Qts. That's about a half Qt. too much so they blow out the rear rocker. Common on all Evo Sporties.

      No, they are absolutely not like Harley-Davidson. This is just something that happened over time. Normal wear, oil seals go bad after time. My bike is 13 years old, mostly stock form, and this is the first issue I've had with it. Thanks for watching!!

      @TD205 That's good to hear.You had me worried. I thought your bike was fairly new.I love all of the Japanese brands. You must have a ton of miles on this. I've had leaks over the years, but generally, they were fixed by replacing gaskets.

    Kinda hard to really see the leak from the vid, I would pull the bolt since it's on top and see if oil is coming from there or where the case is. If it's where the bolt is use some sealer and if it's at the case you can use some JB weld and paint it back black, I just had to seal my gas tank at the weld.

Imo, thts not a reason to write the Vaquero off. If ur looking for a reason for a new bike, thts not it... Just seal it & ride.
