I thought you and your channel were amazing from the start and hoped to find even more beauty "gurus" like you. Over time I've subscribed and eventually unsubscribed to many channels but yours still remains and continues to be the vlog that all others must live up to. I have yet to miss one of your videos. I love that even with your very large amount of subscribers, you continue to remain down to earth and"REAL". Many vloggers I stopped watching because it became apparent they were putting on a facade to get more viewers or getting paid to sponsor a beauty product. I've tried just about everything, and for me the Rimmel Perfect Match concealer is the best. Excellent coverage, not too dry, stays put, and doesn't break me out.
UD Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer. It is the best concealer I have ever used, and I went years without concealer because I never found one that I liked. I think you will love it, Emily.
This video is exactly what I needed right now! I really enjoy the Pixi by Petra dupe for the Benefit Erase Paste. Emily actually was the one who made this comparison in an older video, and I adore it. I have very dry skin and I do feel it needs to be set but just lightly. Thank you so much for the video Emily! Suuuuch a good, informative video. I've been a fan for years and learned so much along the way, but for some reason this video really stands out to me. Love the breakdown of different types and how you include every step (like what brushes to use, what to set with, ect). You may feel like you're going on & on, but I wanted to keep hearing more details!! Lol I know you have done videos similar to this, concentrating on one certain step (just concealers) before, but you should definitely film more of them! Absolutely loved this video. wish you would do you faves/must have brushes (for everything!), and I also think some series like 'the one product (or color for each product) you must try" for esch makeup line, for those of us who want to try a line but don't know where to start! I can't believe it took me so long to try MAC Pro Longwear. It is the ONLY thing that covers my dark circles. I've wasted so much money on NARS, Benefit, Make Up For Ever, etc. So glad I finally tried it!
I stopped trying to use any concealer on blemishes, as it never works for me. I do use it for under eye and highlighting. Of the ones mentioned, I use the MAC PL (does even out well all over, in a pinch), &the Mayb. Age Rew. I want to try their SSBS. I also like the L'Oreal True Match stick/pncl, CoverGirl Ready, Set, Gorg., & the CoverGirl/Olay swirled one. I used to like Bobbi Brown corrector, but haven't used it in a while. I typically set with Laura Mercier Secret Brightening powder.
Loved erase paste for while. But while it is loaded with product, I felt after 6 months it thickens and becomes too heavy on the undereye. At least in my experience, I'm preferred the Bobbi Brown corrector in bisque because i find it when you melt it in your fingers a little, and dab it on it has great coverage. Sometimes I follow up with an illuminating concealer in the darker spots, but overall I feel covered.
The new urban decay naked concealer is awesome please try. I use the mac pro long wear mixed with a very small amount of bobbi brown face cream works great. Thanks for your videos!

I really like the erase paste! It creased a little on me yesterday so I need to remember a setting powder next time! I'm picky with concealers but I haven't tried a lot of these!
Em! If you want a REALLY full coverage concealer, try the one from Amazing Cosmetics! Now THAT stuff is heavy duty! Also, the Laura Geller Real Deal Concealer is really awesome too! For me I've been using th revlon colourstay concealor for everything. It's so great I've been skippng foundation, just using the concealor under the eyes and on red or dark spots.
Great video em! I am so glad I'm not the only one that is on the fence about the Nars Creamy concealer. It's nice and all, but I feel like my Maybelline age rewind does about the same job and is so much cheaper! For some reason I felt like I went through the Nars really quickly! i love the la girl pro concealers!! i've heard the maybelline master glaze concealers are super full coverage and great if you know how to work with them. ALSO, MAKEUP WEARERS: I FOUND OUT HOW TO PREVENT UNDEREYE CREASING. i use the LA girl pro concealer, blend it out with a beauty blender, then dab that beauty blender into a bit of RCMA no color powder and stamp it under my eyes. brush off the excess after about 10 seconds (quick cooking) and your concealer WILL NOT CREASE

Emily that was a great review and video! It's amazing as I age how I have to change up concealers or ways to use makeup. I used Lancome waterproof thin liquid and it really is great for not creasing and looking natural but full coverage. I hesitate to get the erasepaste because with fair skin I didn't know if it was too orange. I was just looking at Tart's water proof online and almost ordered it as I am almost out of concealer. Those IT brushes are a dream by the way. I have the large powder one and its soooooo soft.

I am so dismayed that my favorite Cover Girl Olay concealer stick is discontinued... further search shows they may have changed to a cream formula that costs almost twice as much.

Well, I'm almost out of my Bobbi Brown corrector so maybe I'll give erase paste a try. I've got such dark circles that I can only partially cover them, sadly.

I have tried almost all of the corrector (Bobbi Brown, Tarte, Benefit) and I find the best and thinnest is the Bobbi Brown one. The Benefit one is kind of thick.

I use maybelline instant age rewind eraser dark circles treatment concealer and it shows my under eye lines and really doesn't cover good. I'm 21 year old mother of two girls and waiting that flawless under eye. What concealer do you recommend?
makeuplover98 I no longer have that one, but I remember loving it as a great creamy concealer! I should repurchase and try it again-- as I think the Dalton line has been revamped somewhat recently! :)
Do you have any experience with Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer? I tried it and didn't like it...by the end of the day, it left a strange, bumpy texture in my under eye area. I'm currently using Clarins Instant Concealer with good results.
My favorite it both Maybelline lol the age rewind brightener and the fit me in fair it's amazeballs!!! I like to mix them together on the back of my hand I also love bare minerals strobe or light in pink.....awesome sauce! :) I need to get my hands on the better skin one! It seems Maybelline is ruling the concealer world for the drug store!💪👍👏
Does anyone know of a good drugstore concealer that works well for fine lines under the eyes? I mean O have dark circles too, but my biggest problem is the fine lines.
Thank you for pulling your hair out of your face. I've watched dozens of videos on "makeup" and the women have their hair hanging in their face and are constantly brushing it out of their eyes. It's very annoying and distracting. I appreciate your professionalism.
Thanks for the great discussion of concealers. As a member of your older demographic of viewers (50's) I have been avoiding concealers due to issues with settling in under eye wrinkles. I would love to see an updated video with you and your lovely mother that addresses skin care/makeup for "mature" skin. Best wishes to you and your family. :)
Ditto on that! I'm over 50 with horrible dark circles and lots of fine lines and wrinkles under the eyes. I laugh at the UA-camrs that say their circle are bad! I have yet to find anything that covers them, and it makes seems every attempt just looks cakey and/or accentuates the lines. Lately I've just been doing a little of the Smashbox HD concealer and setting it with either Smashbox or Kat Von D highlighting powder. The circles still come through but it's been about the best on the other issues.
I had the EXACT same thought-that I'd like to see her mother's recommendations. One trick I picked up from Wayne Goss: put eyeshadow primer on the under-eye area. It does tighten the area and kind of "fill in the lines" a bit. Then foundation and powder over that. Not perfect (nothing can overcome aging) but definitely an improvement.
Ocher Velvet I'm going to try that method and see if it helps. I do notice that when I blend the eye shadow primer a bit further out from my eyelid it seems to help the crows feet area so maybe lightly putting it under the eye might help that area too. Thanks!
Ocher Velvet I have been doing that with Benefits Stay Don't Stray. After a mad search for a good eye primer that doesn't highlight the crepe-ness of my eyelids I found this works really well. Unlike most eye primers, it has hylauronic acid or sodium hylauronate that's a super humectant. It draws moisture to itself instead of locking in the moisture with oils. It's great because it plumps the skin a bit as well so my lines look less noticeable so using it on my under eyes has been super. Anything with Hylauronic acid in it is the way to go with us more mature girls!
I just watched this vid, so excuse how late I am to the "mature" party =P. I did want to add, though, that seriously over-moisturizing around my eyes has helped loads. I do three passes sometimes! Moisturizer, mess with my hair, moisturizer, fight with my spanx, moisturizer... the creases and crepes are reduced enough that I'd say I've knocked down the settling by a good 75%. Oh, and my last few birthdays started with a 4 =) Hope that helps y'all too!

Emily, this was a fabulous video! First thank you for mentioning the Ben Nye again, i forgot that i'd like to purchase it. I have a lot of skin issues from fine lines, huge acne scars, enlarged pores and closed komatomes. That said, how my makeup finishes on my face, really matters and because its lightweight it might help with that.

I LOVE the Pixi salmon colored one. It is so comparable to the erase paste.
LoveBeauty Yeah!! Love that one too. I've found it to be not quite as rich/creamy as Erase Paste but I still often use them interchangeably!

Try the Honey color in the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. I think you'll like it a WHOLE lot more. ;) Custard is too yellow and not very corrective.

Molly Sullivan plus the RCMA no color powder comes in a huge container for only $10....it's about triple the size of standard face powders

I am so dismayed that my favorite Cover Girl Olay concealer stick is discontinued... further search shows they may have changed to a cream formula that costs almost twice as much.
I purchased benefit's erase paste in medium from your recommendations. and i Love love love it.. so glad that i brought it. thanks for all of your great reviews.

I was wondering your thoughts on the Urban Decay Naked color correcting concealer. I don't need a lot of coverage but for brightening and helping with the dark circles I have really liked it but I also wanted your opinion. Oh I saw the video of when your baby girl woke up she is absolutely adorable.
Loved this video since I'm a concealer junkie. ;) One I use daily that you didn't mention is the It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Corrector. It is similar to the Benefit Erase Paste, but I prefer the It Cosmetics over Benefit. Thank you, Emily! Oh, and BTW, Belle is absolutely adorable! :)

Well, I'm almost out of my Bobbi Brown corrector so maybe I'll give erase paste a try. I've got such dark circles that I can only partially cover them, sadly.

Can you please do a review on Sacha setting powder in 'Buttercup'? I heard it's comparable to Ben Nye banana powder, and it's much more affordable! Probably a comparison/dupe video? :-)

(Without Powder)? I don't have darkness under my eyes but I do have in in the corners of my eyes. Will the paste settle down well, on that area?
I have tried almost all of the corrector (Bobbi Brown, Tarte, Benefit) and I find the best and thinnest is the Bobbi Brown one. The Benefit one is kind of thick.

Love your videos!!! How do u get concealer not to look dry? I do use an eye cream and I set with a little bit of powder. I do agree with you with the Nars concealer; I feel like it makes me look aged. Any help would be great thanks!
I use maybelline instant age rewind eraser dark circles treatment concealer and it shows my under eye lines and really doesn't cover good. I'm 21 year old mother of two girls and waiting that flawless under eye. What concealer do you recommend?

Hey Emily do you still like the dalton concealer you mentioned years ago? Also my favorite concealer is the NYX HD full coverage concealer!
makeuplover98 I no longer have that one, but I remember loving it as a great creamy concealer! I should repurchase and try it again-- as I think the Dalton line has been revamped somewhat recently! :)
Do you have any experience with Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer? I tried it and didn't like it...by the end of the day, it left a strange, bumpy texture in my under eye area. I'm currently using Clarins Instant Concealer with good results.

My favorite it both Maybelline lol the age rewind brightener and the fit me in fair it's amazeballs!!! I like to mix them together on the back of my hand I also love bare minerals strobe or light in pink.....awesome sauce! :) I need to get my hands on the better skin one! It seems Maybelline is ruling the concealer world for the drug store!💪👍👏

Thanks for the great discussion of concealers. As a member of your older demographic of viewers (50's) I have been avoiding concealers due to issues with settling in under eye wrinkles. I would love to see an updated video with you and your lovely mother that addresses skin care/makeup for "mature" skin. Best wishes to you and your family. :)
Ditto on that! I'm over 50 with horrible dark circles and lots of fine lines and wrinkles under the eyes. I laugh at the UA-camrs that say their circle are bad! I have yet to find anything that covers them, and it makes seems every attempt just looks cakey and/or accentuates the lines. Lately I've just been doing a little of the Smashbox HD concealer and setting it with either Smashbox or Kat Von D highlighting powder. The circles still come through but it's been about the best on the other issues.
I had the EXACT same thought-that I'd like to see her mother's recommendations. One trick I picked up from Wayne Goss: put eyeshadow primer on the under-eye area. It does tighten the area and kind of "fill in the lines" a bit. Then foundation and powder over that. Not perfect (nothing can overcome aging) but definitely an improvement.
Ocher Velvet I'm going to try that method and see if it helps. I do notice that when I blend the eye shadow primer a bit further out from my eyelid it seems to help the crows feet area so maybe lightly putting it under the eye might help that area too. Thanks!
Ocher Velvet I have been doing that with Benefits Stay Don't Stray. After a mad search for a good eye primer that doesn't highlight the crepe-ness of my eyelids I found this works really well. Unlike most eye primers, it has hylauronic acid or sodium hylauronate that's a super humectant. It draws moisture to itself instead of locking in the moisture with oils. It's great because it plumps the skin a bit as well so my lines look less noticeable so using it on my under eyes has been super. Anything with Hylauronic acid in it is the way to go with us more mature girls!
I just watched this vid, so excuse how late I am to the "mature" party =P. I did want to add, though, that seriously over-moisturizing around my eyes has helped loads. I do three passes sometimes! Moisturizer, mess with my hair, moisturizer, fight with my spanx, moisturizer... the creases and crepes are reduced enough that I'd say I've knocked down the settling by a good 75%. Oh, and my last few birthdays started with a 4 =) Hope that helps y'all too!

Emily, this was a fabulous video! First thank you for mentioning the Ben Nye again, i forgot that i'd like to purchase it. I have a lot of skin issues from fine lines, huge acne scars, enlarged pores and closed komatomes. That said, how my makeup finishes on my face, really matters and because its lightweight it might help with that.
