You never cease to amaze me… the penny just dropped… operating “Theatre” is was a show… and the motto “miseratione non mercede”, for compassion not gain… it was the forerunner of the NHS funded by the gentry with a soul…
👌 That was brilliant Darren, I'm thanking God I didn't have to get my disc removed in those days..... Your vlogs are all very enjoyable and informative, well done x
So glad I found this Darren.. You mentioned you did this video on the most recent Borough Market upload. On one of my many visits to London, I paid for a ticket and travelled to see this. I tried going up the spiral stairs but started to have a panic attack and had to ‘bum’ myself back down!! Bit embarrassing! As I’ve worked in Operating Dept I was so so interested to see this ..So thank you for taking us there! I managed to do The Florence Nightingale museum up by St Thomas’s hospital so the trip wasn’t a complete failure! Will be back soon to have a Sausage roll from the Ginger Pig! Thanks for your vlogs!!
Absolutely fascinating Darren. As an Ex Ophthalmic (correct spelling) and General Nurse that was wonderful to see. The old Ophthalmoscope and surgical instruments. Gruesome times and how things have changed to present day.
Fascinating, so interesting to watch. Wow that’s a lot of steps. OMG all those instruments and tools 😱 quite frightening. Thank goodness for modern day methods and the nhs. Thankyou for sharing. 😊❤️
This was a fascinating look back into medical history. Rather gruesome looking instruments there, i can only imagine how terrifying surgery must have been for the unfortunate patients. These tour/historical vlogs are fabulous, allowing people who maybe cannot get out and about to visit places of interest from their home. I shall have to search your channel for more!
Love this video! All my loves on it wow 🤩 just adore Borough market! Was there three weeks back, stayed in Queensway for three days. Can’t wait to get back in October after we get back from a two week visit to family in Canada 🇨🇦.
Hi Darren thank you for showing me around that was an eye opener and very interesting. That operating table how old is that. Thank you again lovely vlog as ever x👍🙏x
Subscribed, buddy. You had me hooked with the visit to the Clink prison. Brilliant content and great detailing so keep up the awesome work and look forwards to whatever's next on the agenda. 🙂👍
Very good & interesting to watch Darren The old operating theatre was as you said fascinating to see the equipment used & how basic it used to be Loved the restaurant with the glass domes at the beginning & dock views Excellent editing as always Thanks again another great vlog xx👍☘️
Fabulous video this, fascinating as you said in the video, good choice of background music whilst you were in the operating theatre itself though, very melancholy and kind of sad
Hi Darren, what a gruesome place, thank goodness we didn’t live in those days, how lucky are we to have a modern NHS , amazing video there are so many things to see in London, I wouldn’t be surprised if Londoners don’t know about the places you show us , when I was a kid at school we had a trip to London and I can remember we visited the cutty sark and the British museum and I thought it was amazing
I went to this many years ago as I worked for Guys Hospital in one of the houses further along which were offices. They seem to have more on display as well because I expect they have had stuff given to them. Interesting to see how built up it is around there now! Mrs Colin.
That’s very interesting I’m ganna have give have look this place Plus have u ever been old postal train tour in old underground tunnels that be very interesting one to do
What a morbidly fascinating place, some of those instruments looked straight out of a torture chamber. Thank goodness for progress and the use of anaesthetics nowadays. Were members of the public allowed to go in and view operations or was the gallery just for medical students do you know Darren? Thank you for showing us hidden parts of your city, really interesting 😊
