First Real Run of the John Deere 54 Snowblower on the 2025R

At the end of last winter I got fed up with clearing the driveway of snow with the loader and drove to Northern Maine to pick up one hell of a deal on a 54" front snowblower for the 2025R. But winter had not really decided to show up this year, so I have not really got to use my new toy. Well, finally a bit into January we've finally got a small storm to just maybe try and put it through its paces.

Do you miss not having your loader for other tasks? That’s the only thing holding me back from a front mount blower because I find myself using my forks ALL the time to unload and move stuff throughout the winter.

Not at all. I only needed the loader in the winter to knock down the banks, which the loader made. With the blower shooting it out it is not needed. To put the loader back on from the front blower incase I want to use my forks, or the bucket it takes about 20min to take the blower off and get the loader back on.

I see you have a deflector control, what do you use? I have been thinking of adding one to my jd54 for years now but don't want to buy something that won't hold up to Maine winters. Thanks

I'll get you the name off of it. I came with the blower when I got it so I don't know off the top of my head. I have it wired to a rocker switch in the right side console

I think I hear lots of rocks being launched into the yards. I raised mine up about an inch and had far less rocks to pick out of the grass in the spring.

There is. It's up about as high as it can go right now but we've had such a warm winter that the gravel driveway has yet to freeze, so lots of rocks abound unfortunately.
