These people are putting on a mask for stream for us to be entertained. We don't know them in real life and we shouldn't try to take clips and interactions as a model of their actual relationships. Even I might be implying too much about what happened. Just sit back and enjoy them because we all know they are an incredibly entertaining duo.

Meanwhile Connor also knows that even if she got upset with him, he has enough faith in their bond to believe that she will forgive him, and eventually explain to him what he did wrong. When she did eventually explained it to him, he apologised and they made up. As for mouse making the same joke again, I think that she eventually realised that it was just a harmless joke, and maybe she shouldn't have gotten upset at it, as by that point, she had sorted her feelings and considering connor never intended to upset her. It just stung her at the moment as it just came out of nowhere This is what I think, but since I am not a mind reader, mouse may have thought differently. So the mask thing, i initially thought Mousey got upset at Connor is because to Mousey, the "Ironmouse" model we see on screen is how she considers herself as her 'true self' and calling that a mask must've felt like Connor is saying she is fake or disingenuous, but then i remembered Connor has also actually seen Mousey's irl face and saying that if we the viewers saw her, she would would like a psychopath and thus making fun of her appearance, which she is self conscious about. These are my two cents on the matter tho. I really don't think anyone was inherently wrong in the mask situation. I've been both in Connor's place and in Mousey's place many times. I often times make very sarcastic jokes, mostly about my own short comings, but also about my friends, and while 99% it's just shittalking sometimes it hits a nerve and things become awkward. I may not mean it but someone that particular day may just not be in the mood for my stupid sarcasm. At that point you either talk it out or leave them alone for a bit. And at the same time at particular days I may not be in the mood for a touchy joke and might get irked at something I would laugh at another day. This stuff happens, no need to demonise one side or the other or analyse every single angle of the situation. Connor was being his usual monkey self and Mousey being her awkward anxious self whenever things like this happen. Emotions don't always follow logic and just because you are being illogical at a certain point doesn't make you evil. Could this situation have been handled better? Sure, but you try to stay cool headed with 20k people watching your every movement.

Here's my speculation on why mouse got genuinely upset at Connors mask joke, said it was fine, then said it wasn't. After all the extreme hardships mouse has had to endure, and still goes through daly, having one of her best friends, even as a joke, say that Vtubeing, the way she has lived her life to the fullest, is hiding behind a mask makes her life's work sound fake, so of course she was upset, but took a minute to mull it over and realize that Connor can be really REALLY dence, so she told him what he did wrong and he apologized and they both said it was all cool at the end of the stream, so its definitely fine now. (Also I've had an experience similar to this a long time ago as a stupid kid and it ended a friendship which is why I, usually a lurker, felt so vocal about this.) *edit: this was suuupper long and I went of several tangents so I shortened it down so you all didn't have to read 10 paragraphs.

I think it is because of how people that don't know about VTubers perceive them. Mouse mentioned that only recently are VTubers more accepted in streaming communities and that for a long time VTubers would get ridiculed by facecam streamers/people in general for hiding behind an avatar. So when Connor made the joke about being a psycho hiding behind an avatar it probably reminded her of how VTubers used to be treated and how they used to be viewed. She probably heard it herself a lot too. The joke most likely annoyed her so she went silent to calm down and to not say anything while still angry. She probably understands that Connor didn't mean it which is why she was quick to get over it after her silence and even make the joke herself. The mask thing is legit the angriest I've ever heard Mouse get, that initial reaction was suuuuper uncomfy. Connor is a good egg but definitely kind of an idiot and should have figured out what he did a lot faster, shit wasn't THAT hard to guess. Meanwhile Mouse surprised me by handling the whole thing incredibly maturely! She kept quiet until she calmed down so she wouldn't make things worse or say something she'd regret, and she even managed to walk herself through the logic that her friend wouldn't say something to deliberately hurt her feelings. That's hard to do when you're pissed at someone! Anyway they talked through it on stream and then almost assuredly afterward (if Connor apologized after the oxygen thing he'd deffo apologize after this too) and they kept it cool and didn't melt down and they're still best friends who are very cute together. As much as one wants to always root to mouse, she isn't perfect and has her flaws. Her argument would've been valid if Connor intentionally meant what he said, but she knew that he didnt know and yet chose to make a dramatic scene about it. It's a common theme at this point that sometimes she just wants to feel offended for the sake of it and it gets tad bit annoying and uncomfortable sometimes. Other than that it was a good stream.

So the mask thing, i initially thought Mousey got upset at Connor is because to Mousey, the "Ironmouse" model we see on screen is how she considers herself as her 'true self' and calling that a mask must've felt like Connor is saying she is fake or disingenuous, but then i remembered Connor has also actually seen Mousey's irl face and saying that if we the viewers saw her, she would would like a psychopath and thus making fun of her appearance, which she is self conscious about. These are my two cents on the matter tho.
Also i slightly agree with Connor that Mousey shouldn't hold him the same regard as a rando over a joke, but then again, it's because they're so close that a random joke can suddenly or accidentally struck a nerve on another in the moment, I've done something similar to my brother and although it was nothing too severe, it was still something that hurt him.
Yeah it's better that she tells him when something he says upsets her, she could've been more upfront though rather than dragging it out. I learned with my partner that it is better to express a feeling even if you know it's rooted in something irrational or uncalled for, because otherwise you're just being fake with them. Once you express it it's like a tension is released and you normally get over it then and there

I really don't think anyone was inherently wrong in the mask situation. I've been both in Connor's place and in Mousey's place many times. I often times make very sarcastic jokes, mostly about my own short comings, but also about my friends, and while 99% it's just shittalking sometimes it hits a nerve and things become awkward. I may not mean it but someone that particular day may just not be in the mood for my stupid sarcasm. At that point you either talk it out or leave them alone for a bit.
And at the same time at particular days I may not be in the mood for a touchy joke and might get irked at something I would laugh at another day. This stuff happens, no need to demonise one side or the other or analyse every single angle of the situation. Connor was being his usual monkey self and Mousey being her awkward anxious self whenever things like this happen. Emotions don't always follow logic and just because you are being illogical at a certain point doesn't make you evil.
Could this situation have been handled better? Sure, but you try to stay cool headed with 20k people watching your every movement.

Here's my speculation on why mouse got genuinely upset at Connors mask joke, said it was fine, then said it wasn't.
After all the extreme hardships mouse has had to endure, and still goes through daly, having one of her best friends, even as a joke, say that Vtubeing, the way she has lived her life to the fullest, is hiding behind a mask makes her life's work sound fake, so of course she was upset, but took a minute to mull it over and realize that Connor can be really REALLY dence, so she told him what he did wrong and he apologized and they both said it was all cool at the end of the stream, so its definitely fine now.
(Also I've had an experience similar to this a long time ago as a stupid kid and it ended a friendship which is why I, usually a lurker, felt so vocal about this.)

Edit: After watching that part again, I think what happened is that the joke happened to hit a nerve with Mouse which made her upset, so she went silent for a bit to calm down and then turned it into a joke to lighten the mood because she knew Connor didn't mean it like that. That's the summary of how I understand it, but either way, they're close friends and small arguments like this are completely natural, so let's not blow it out of proportion please.

I think it is because of how people that don't know about VTubers perceive them.
Mouse mentioned that only recently are VTubers more accepted in streaming communities and that for a long time VTubers would get ridiculed by facecam streamers/people in general for hiding behind an avatar.
So when Connor made the joke about being a psycho hiding behind an avatar it probably reminded her of how VTubers used to be treated and how they used to be viewed. She probably heard it herself a lot too. The joke most likely annoyed her so she went silent to calm down and to not say anything while still angry. She probably understands that Connor didn't mean it which is why she was quick to get over it after her silence and even make the joke herself.
To be fair it is quite an inconsiderate/insensitive joke to make but everyone knows that Connor doesn't mean what he says whenever he makes jokes on stream. Everyone is used to him saying dumb shit on stream and I think if someone else who isn't as close to her as Connor is made that joke, she probably would have reacted a lot worse.
Though Connor wasn't doing himself any favours when he started hysterically laughing at Mouse hiding her anger.... Also him blaming chat was a bit weird, as annoying as Twitch chat can be it was kinda weird to use chat as a scapegoat. (not hating on connor btw i think he's great, just a little unaware sometimes)

I knew that when I watched the stream, and when the vod will be uploaded here, this will be discussed in the comment section. Here are my two cents about this situation.
Connor makes "Psychopath hiding behind the mask" joke. It stings mouse a bit coz of her personal issues and what regular people used to perceive streamers as,(Like when you encounter something which reminds you of a bad memory, but on a smaller scale). It was more of what was said and less of the fact that Connor said it. She went silent for a bit so that she can sort out her feelings and calm down as she realises that Connor always says dumb jokes and stuff and does not actually means what he says and does not intend to hurt her. But then she continues to stay silent for the sake of the bit and just for messing with him. Meanwhile Connor also knows that even if she got upset with him, he has enough faith in their bond to believe that she will forgive him, and eventually explain to him what he did wrong.
When she did eventually explained it to him, he apologised and they made up. As for mouse making the same joke again, I think that she eventually realised that it was just a harmless joke, and maybe she shouldn't have gotten upset at it, as by that point, she had sorted her feelings and considering connor never intended to upset her. It just stung her at the moment as it just came out of nowhere This is what I think, but since I am not a mind reader, mouse may have thought differently.
Even though I do admit that it got a bit awkward, after rewatching it, I realised that even though she got upset at him at the beginning, that feeling eventually disappeared after a while, and after that, it was just messing with him by staying silent, and talking with him about what it was that made her upset.
Now, some people in the chat were calling names to Connor, calling him inconsiderate and worse, but to be fair to Connor, even I didn't understood the whole ordeal for a while, and he has made that joke before as well(On his own btw, not with mouse, in his latest trash taste reddit meme review vod, where he says that he always has to take care of his face, to make sure that he does not look like shit, and vtubers can simply hide behind the avatars, and mousey was in the chat bantering with him as well)
Sometimes, men specially does not understand what they did wrong, and need more context and understanding to actually empathise with someone and understand when they accidentally hurt someone. And also to be fair to connor, he has said more jokes like that to mouse beforehand as well. This time however somehow, it struck a nerve, because of aforementioned reasons.
But Mouse called Connor a psychopath first. Connor replied using the same jokes.

The mask thing is legit the angriest I've ever heard Mouse get, that initial reaction was suuuuper uncomfy. Connor is a good egg but definitely kind of an idiot and should have figured out what he did a lot faster, shit wasn't THAT hard to guess. Meanwhile Mouse surprised me by handling the whole thing incredibly maturely! She kept quiet until she calmed down so she wouldn't make things worse or say something she'd regret, and she even managed to walk herself through the logic that her friend wouldn't say something to deliberately hurt her feelings. That's hard to do when you're pissed at someone!
Anyway they talked through it on stream and then almost assuredly afterward (if Connor apologized after the oxygen thing he'd deffo apologize after this too) and they kept it cool and didn't melt down and they're still best friends who are very cute together. As much as one wants to always root to mouse, she isn't perfect and has her flaws.
