The fact that she immediately notice that Vestia could speak japanese she already knew her rank would go down, made it so funny but at the same time i feel sorry for her lol.
I love that miko has accepted that that her kohais japanese will be better then hers
At this point Miko is probably among the most relatable holomems just because she reacts to new members the same way we as fans would, and I love her for that
Why did she think her rank would go down? What rank? I don't really get it. Could you please fill me in on what's the source of her concern?
@@Mr_Smithy the rank of holomem that good at speaking japanese
@@alvanrafiReally? Is her Japanese really that bad even though she's a native speaker? I know little to absolutely nothing about Japanese so I would've never guessed.
@@Mr_Smithy It's a joke. Miko has a little bit of a lisp due to her short tongue. That combined with her high pitched speaking cause people and other members to joke that Miko is like a baby learning Japanese.
Miko: She truly is a high-spec isn't she
Roboco: After all these years finally a worthy opponent
Kiara is a pretty strong contender on the language expertise front as well!
IOFI too!!! She can speak many languages
Roboco also speak multiple languages???

Miko : can she Miko(elite)language though?
ID girls : instantly stares at Moona the elite japanese
Moona : what?
"No baby super ready. I am elite man"

I sometimes amazed with her ability to"decipher"the elite language that she hear from Miko and Pekora.
when alot peoples confused, she somehow get it(after seriously brainstorming at the background.lol)

Trilinguals actually are so common in Indonesia, as we have hundreds of local language, Indonesian language as an official language, and english as compulsory subject in our school. I think the same also happen with Malaysia and Singapore.
We also enjoy a lot of foreign cultures in our country, such as chinese, japanese, arabic, korean, and other asian and european cultures, and people who love them tend to excitedly learn their languages. For example we have a lot of japanese and korean speakers here, since these two countries have big influences in our entertainment industry.
For Malaysia it depends. For Malaysians who are ethnically Chinese or Indian, yes, often they can speak at least 3 languages; Mandarin or Tamil, Malay (because it's the lingua franca), and English (because it's taught in school). However for the Bumiputera or simply ethnic Malays, most only speak 2 languages; Malay and English.
This is the case for West Malaysia, not entirely sure about East Malaysia.
For Philippines, We have tagalog and english as a our nationa languages that's why its not rare for people to speak english but we also have a korean town and chinese town where people know how to speak those languages
@@rszarir that makes sense as indonesian we see the west is too non-Malay because of modern chinese and indian influence also brittish culture, while the east is Bornean malay since the migration of malay Malaysian came from there
@@mcrance4063 i really envy sometimes for Philippines customs because they really use english language (alongside tagalog) as a norm, i hope Indonesia can strive to do that either in the future
I love the way you explain it, easy to understand
The way she said High-spec... faqing cute
Agree
It is crazy that ID has so many members who are bilingual or multilingual.
Pretty common in ID actually(at least where Im from) most ppl I know are at least bilingual or multilingual including myself
Is it really? Most people in that part of the world are bilingual and learn English in school along with whatever their mother tongue. And I don't mean as a second language in high school but as a language you learn from grade school often the elite schools are taught completely in English.
@@MaheerKibria it's not always English, Indonesia has a lot of local languages, like Iofi also can speak Sundanese (her local language)
Indo at least have to master at least 3 by the time they grad from hig school. Their local language, indo language, and english. Some school go even further and have to master 4 with chinese language.
And it's not like we have only 1 local language either. So I think mastering 1 or 2 more shouldnt be a problem, it's just in their blood.
I can say it's pretty common in Indonesia ,Actually we use 2 or 3 different local language since kid, for example is Bahasa Indonesia Javanese or Sundanese
That puts her 2nd I believe in languages spoken. Only Iofi speaks more at 5 (Indonesian, English, Japanese, Korean, German). ID built diff.
And Sundanese so it's 6 languages, But just a lil bit disclaimer she still learning Korean and can only read a little hangeul
Didn't La+ mention recently that she'd studied 5 languages though? Not enough to actually speak it more than some basics but still
@@ZoeyMari wait, what language Yamada learn ?

There are a lot polyglots in holoverse : Kiara (4 big languages), Iofi (4 big 2 small), Vestia (4 big languages), Sana and Kronii (3 big languages), etc...maybe a few others. I remember Botan also 3 (English, Mandarin n Japanese) 😅
Risu, Reine, Anya, Ollie (3 language)
@@addminustraitor8514 don't forget Lui
Anyone who knows Elite language should also count as "Big"
Maybe Zeta can speak Javanese (a local language) too when she slipped some javanese accent at her debut stream. There is a Javanese alphabet on her tablet too
@@rasafafifu i actually hope she can speak Javanese 🤣🤣 its rare to see someone stream in local language
She’s right about ID though. The thought crossed my mind while watching Ollie, risu, and moona build the temple that these people are just out here casually being _tri_ lingual. All of them are cracked, but Zeta adding a fourth language on top is just busted
as a SEA native, 3 languages is not as busted as you think
in fact it is the default setting: English, national language and local/hometown/rural language
adding a 4th language (2nd foreign, after English) via working overseas or transcending from being an otaku or Koreaboo also wont surprise me
adding a 5th one tho, or a 3rd foreign language, now that is busted
@@jomybaby22-gaming yeah, fair enough. I do come from America, and we aren’t really known as a society which values language learning, so you’re pretty lucky just to meet a fluent bilingual here in my area. I guess that’s why it seems so darn impressive
@@jomybaby22-gaming all my weeb schoolmates: english, mother tongue, possibly a little regional dialect from parents/grandparents, and however much japanese they picked up from watching years of anime
@@jomybaby22-gaming 4th language is actually quite common too since most schools in Indonesia always add one more foreign language subject to their curriculum, like Arabic, Japanese, Mandarin, or France for example..
Her Japanese ranking might have went down but her Elite Japanese remains at the top.
She's also the only one who can speak it so she's 1st in a list of 1.
I dont think Elite Japanese is used by other member than Miko herself
Just like Nnnaaaa language by Luna

My ID friend told me that in their country there is hundreds local language, so they actually can speak 7 or more language in their daily....WTF
No wonder the ID branch can speak many international language....this makes me wants to buy a CHIP that can makes me speak any language in the world
Dang it !
Yes it is sire,rn i could speak 4 language but as for english(still learning)
They can, But it’s pretty rare bilingual or trilingual is more common
The reason they create "bahasa Indonesia" because there's more than 500+ official local language
- 2 language / default / auto (local& Indonesia)
- Islam is majority , so some people unintentionally learn it if they want to be more faithful in their religion side
- English , one of main language class in school
- Korean , some of people like to work there
- other local (2-5) language if you work on other town
- JP , french etc optional
Basically 2 or 3 is the common number of language
If they count a local language then heck yea
normally only 3. Indonesian language (the lingua franca),their own local language, and english(school compulsory subjects). and if some people likes anime or K-pop...they usually start learning the language
Chinese was once like this. Some ppl still speak multiple dialects, but increasingly rare. My parents speak four Chinese dialects including Cantonese and Mandarin.
You say dialect but Cantonese and Mandarin are different enough to be labelled as separate languages. Hokkien as well. It's basically propaganda by CCP to call them dialects.
Miko a walking W, she created a whole damn language😂
Vestia caught my eyes the moment I saw her design. She’s pretty amazing as an individual with her four languages, but can someone let me know if she’s still learning or she’s fluent in all? Also that giggle is soul healing
Pretty sure she said shes Fluent in English and Japanese but still learning Korean although she was pretty adept when she spoke in it
There's "(Learning)" below the "Japanese, Korean" part from the introduction, so I guess she's fluent in English, and learning for both Japanese and Korean
Ah thanks guys
But im pretty sure its 5(local language), yeah fyi most of indonesian must be understand or even be able to speak their own local ethnic language, its a bless being born as bilingual
EN : native eigo, add some
ID : bahasa, their tribe, eigo, nihon, add more
What do you expect? Vesta is a secret agent, it is normal for our cute secret agent to speak several language.
Besides, in Indonesia we have many tribes and language. It is normal for us to speak many language at once. At home we usually speak in native language, at public we speak in Indonesian, at international forum (e.g. UA-cam comment section) we speak in English and other foreign language.
Multilingual ftw!!!
ID girls are built different; i do enjoy their antics
Being bilingual or multilingual is actually pretty common in the south east asia zone im pretty sure
Yes and no
Yes, for the middle class to upper class citizens because other than mandatory language lesson from school like Indonesian language, local/regional language and English. People from those categories usually learn English outside of school like course
No, because the lower income families doesn't have the money to send their child to learn in course and the lesson in the school doesn't really work.
In Malaysia, it is mandatory to learn and pass Malay language in school (Bahasa Melayu, which is similar to Bahasa Indonesia with certain interchangeable words) and English is also extremely suggested to learn and master to a certain degree as it is seen as an important lingua to advancing for purpose of connections outside of Malaysia (lingua franca status).
These days, mandarin is also suggested by many due to opportunity with China, with no bias any race can attend Chinese schools as how some of my Malay and Indian friends did.
As for me, I didn't attend Chinese school but instead only the public schools here but in my vocabulary set I can speak a fluent English and Malay, decent communicative level of Cantonese and Hokkien, able to understand orally Mandarin and casually learning Japanese.
Overall, yeah it's common to see southeast Asians being able to speak and understand more than 1 language
Man Indonesians sure are build different. Don't know if is something with their natural language, but the fact they can learn a bunch of languages with little to no accent amazes me.
The fact that we SEA have multiple different races with different culture and religion helps push us to learn the language to communicate better.
If you don't know how to speak at least 3 languages, you are a failure as an educated SEA.
I think it's because we've been colonized by a lot of nation in the past for hundreds of years, a lot of vocabulary words of bahasa Indonesia are borrowed from another language and that resulted us to have a flexible tongue to learn another languages. I think this also implies to other SE Asian nations.
@@jollyjelly304 Amazing. Brazil, my home country, need to learn something with you guys. Definitely.
@@syrazhs yeah its true and don't forget before Europe and Japan invite Indonesia we have been invite by arabic and Chinese people for trade goods so arabic adn Mandarin also learn in hete

Nah, since she was from indonesian, i believe there are still 1 language she doesnt want show up since that language was where she was born
For example like me, i can speak indonesian, english, Japanese (little), and balinese (Bali from where i was born, Dewata Island)
so it's similar like Japanese accent which can describe where they are come from.
but ID are their langguage instead?
@@ranapriliaful
yes and no.
from language, we can pinpointed where she come from since almost every province(34) have their own local language. it narrowed the searching process a lot. but each local language have their own specific accent,so from accent alone we also can guess from where she come from
if we listen she don't have accent. it's either she really don't have accent(usually this happens if a child from a certain tribe live and grow in other areas) or she try hard to hide her accent. but she already spilled the beans with the Javanese letter on her tablet. so highly she's a Javanese
@@FreyjaWion wait, 34 province? so 34 different langguages? is Indonesian school teach all of this 34 langguages as well?.
that's huge~
I mean, is langguage barrier exist in Indonesia which has that lot of langguages?
@@ranapriliaful
just informing that I edited my comment up there.
in school they only teach the local language according to where the school are. so not covering all(around 700) local language and of course the mandatory Indonesia language + english
yes. at the old times, language barrier did exists. but the government implements a policy of one national language(lingua franca), Indonesia language, Indonesia language roots is from the Malay language. that's why Malaysian also can understand Indonesian.
@@ranapriliaful I don't know how many 'native' local language Indonesia has, but yeah you could say there are many. That's why we are using "bahasa Indonesia/Indonesian language" as lingua franca or default language to speak at each other. It precisely to overcome the language barier Indonesian have.
For example some of the local language you can hear HoloID medley song.
Number of languages Miko knows: 0.8
So, real quick, what languages can Vestia speak? I'm guessing Indonesian, Japanese, and English are three of them.
And Korean. But she said she is still learning Japanese and Korean.
last one is korean... but considering she is indonesian, which is commonly also can use her local language (and her accent while speaking korean a little bit "medhok") i suppose she also use javanese.... so probably actually 5
*note : "medhok" is one of javanese accent that easily recognized, and usually come out when a javanese native speaker use other language such as bahasa indonesia or english

But I'm more interested in the inevitable Haachama existential crisis that always happens when a new gen debuts in any branch. Especially if someone speaks solid JP, Haachama goes full spidershit.
Haachama is not concerned as no one can reach her power level
@@unownnnn What are you talking about? Haachama has had an existential crisis nearly every time there's a new gen. She's massively concerned when this happens.

I’m aiming for 6. English, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and Portuguese in that order. I was born with the first 2, currently working on Japanese. Spanish makes understanding some aspects of Japanese relatively easier, surprisingly.
I grew up with 5 languages but forgot how to speak them since i moved and didn't have anyone to speak too.
Everybody asking how to learn languages but Indonesia must have a secret recipe!
So many rleases of vtubers I wonder when holo will hit the point where theres just to many to keep up with haha. i certainly feel that way already especially since most if not all of them fit together in different areas so well. Makes you fill theres no room for anymore - then low and behold another puzzle slots right in.
if we talk about indonesian old era basicly they're like korea or japan or china
we stuck at our language n our region tribe language our accent is stuck as well
.
but if we talk about indonesian this days
it's common
.
usually the citizen learned 2 language wich the native indonesia language and region tribe language
.
but we got some addition because the majority our regios is moeslem so we are common speaking arab language because of the holy book qur'an is using arabian n we use arab language for reticing on praying
.
then we got some bonus if they're chinese or arabian or indian
because their families environment had diff language as well
.
so our tongue is flexible
.
n then we learned addition language english at school from kindergarden primary elementary junior high college. we got more bonus n becomes more flexible
.
n when on junior n high school the diff school has their more extra language studies
such a mandarin, arab, japan, france, deutch, german (depend on the school)
on my friends school the got mandarin on junior n japan at his high school
on my case my junior is arab n my high school is france
and maybe i'm kinda ppl who learn fast n like language so it's smooth even though im not used that again since graduate so much forgotten things happened lmao
.
and if the people got hobby or like anime or something about japan wich is weeb/wibu/weabo they can learn japanese as well, it's happened alot like me iofi anya ollie risu n bunch of ppl like that
we got easier to learn bcs our tongue alrd flexible from the experience
and if they got halyu/korean wave from kpop n korean drama, they'll found korean is interesting n u know they'll learn korean language as well, it's happened at iofi as well, and my lit sister is like that, but i'm not interested so i'm pass
.
something like this maybe happened on malaysia thailand n philipine singapore as well
but their quantity is the different
indonesia n philipine n singapore n malaysia maybe is the one who are much common, well...... even it's still back again on "depend on"
.
but i bealive zeta actually can 5 language with her regional tribe language n i bealive she's javanese/jawa people bcs she had a slip a lit bit of java accent wich called "medhok"

Iofi could speak 6 languages btw:indonesian, english, japanese, german, sundanesse, and korean(this one still learning)
I might be wrong but I think the Katakana syllabus is what hindering Japanese from mastering a second language. it just makes them sounds very weird. Maybe apart from Spanish, since the 2 sounds similar? So I reckon the only 2 ways a Japanese can speak a foreign language fluently is either they live aboard since young for a considerable period of time and am forced to use to it (eg school/work), or being taught by a native speaker.
The Elite Miko has set her eyes on Zeta

I know that some(for a bit ballsy, which is majority) ID people doesn't learn english.
but take Vtuber as example that with effort, you can learn languages pretty well.
English imo, has complexity just because they improve their basic words to more suitable and advanced (and over time, we also made new words...which is way less effort if it's popular and common use in the social media).
having to learned 4 languages is an achievement itself, which i lack...
Long hair Miko is amazing

Japanese since they love anime and japans culture is counted 3
Also for korea is already deep digging alot from many females because the boyband group in 2K era really gives big shot to most of them so counted 4

Zeta will become the official Miko translator and subber.
I'm sure someday Miko will be able to speak one too.
If she _can_ speak miko, then Miko's kami might open up a translator job soon...
i think the minimmum requirement for HololiveID is can speak in english, also japannese lenguage is a plus point... because in this casee, vtuber fans mostly like Anime from japan that make reason for the idol learning japanesse lenguage to entertain the listener... In JP Vtuber case, just speaking in japanesse lenguage all listeners can understand the conservation... but if ID vtuber just using indonesian lenguange, mostly listeners from over sea hard to understand the conservation... and no a reason for EN and JP vtuber to using Indonesian lenguage for streaming... that my oppinion, sorry if im wrong..
