It is striking to note how often in these gun-cameras the German pilots, due to inexperience in these last months of the war, or because of the nervous tension of being attacked, forgot to release their extra tanks.
Very inexperienced the Luftwaffe piots were so badly trained ,They could barely take off and land,,Exactly like russians in 1941-42.Very easy kills.
@@marchansel7296 That's true.
@@manuelperales8217 . Absolutely Manuel .And I'm quite surprised how many top Luftwaffe aces survived the war against overwhelming odds..1943-45.Things looked very bad for them..They must definetly be the most experienced pilots of ww2.Although I know alot where killed in action which against these overwhelming odds is no surprise.
They were ordered to not drop the tanks because of the aluminum shortage. Dumb order but not worse from Luftwaffe comand.
@@marchansel7296 anyone else find it disturbing that the American pilots were strafing downed planes that likely had passed out pilots in them?
Never seen this footage before. There must be so much more out there not yet recovered and restored.
Why the watermark centre screen ? Ruins vid.
This whole reel I have seen several times by different providers. Almost all of these films have been shown by half a dozen different providers. Some put a watermark on them and others copy from one channel and then put it on their own. It is hard anymore to tell who had the original. Anyway I don't get too tired of re seeing them anyway. Thanks
I like it but I need more gunfire sound. I got a fever. And the only remedy is gunfire sounds
Y'all have to remember, a lot of these films were shown to the troops as well as the public to boost morale and so on.
Harder to do that with a silent picture so it stands to reason that they'd "hype it up" a bit with sound effects and so on.
Call it poetic/dramatic license if you will.
I call it propaganda.
I call it poetic justice :)

Looks like someone was claiming they shot down a DH Mosquito.
At 1.17, I thought that, looks definitely like a mosquito to me.
Agree. That was a DH Mossie. Distinctive fin and nacelles.
@@raymond7880 The canopy was also very distinct. Yep, a Mosquito.
Good shootink xD
Sure wish I could see past the "Buyout Footage. I mean seriously, you couldn't put it at the bottom?
Yes, we're in he process of revising all of our preview videos.
At about 1:16 the aircraft being attacked looks like a DeHavilland Mosquito (forward positioned fin and rudder; slim, tapered nacelles with V protruding from the rear; low, flat cockpit). Anyone know anything more about this? The Germans did capture and use some Mosquitos but, absent seeing the markings, it would be reasonable to assume it was a British aircraft.
Yep, looks like a Mossie to me. Mind you the Americans were notoriously bad at identifying friend or foe. Clostermann talks about it in his book The Big Show. It got to the point where the RAF were reluctant to escort US bombers.
Blue on blue 😶
Blue on Blue
You're right. it was a Mosquito, and Clostermann recounted in an interview how his squadmate Jacques Remlinger, when landing after a mission, jumped over the wing of a P-47 whose pilot had just shot down a colleague, Michel Boudier, by mistake, and they had to restrain him so that he wouldn't hit him. Confusing a Spitfire with an Me-109 seen from behind was not uncommon if the characteristics of each aircraft model were not carefully studied. M. Boudier managed to parachute but seriously injured and had to undergo harsh interrogations by the Gestapo before being sent to a prisoner of war camp. American anti-aircraft gunners were also nicknamed "Happy trigger" with a tendency to shoot first and check later, which cost the life of great P-51 Mustang ace George Preddy.
Looks like a Mossie to me, though it is very similar in appearance to a Ju 88 too. The engine nacceles are the give away
What would make this video amazing would be some machine gun sounds on every clip.
And make them all sound exactly the same.
And the fake screeching of dive flaps.
I stopped counting the machine gun bullets after 12728.
It would of been so much better with out the damn “buyout footage” in the middle of the screen!
The early scene with a P-38 passing, that looks like a P-47 being shot up.
the exploding train, wow
I didn't know Burma and Japan were European countries.
Watermark. Did you have to?
Americans shooting at everything airborne, even at British Mosquitos(1:15) 😂
Thy said: "Gunsight aiming point cameras record a german jet propelled aircraft in COMBAT"
But actually the Me262 was returning to base with the rails down, trying to land.
The same for the other images.
On the Me163 as it is known that it was with an empty tank, it was simply hovering in the air.
Since these monstrosities could reach 850 km/h without straining, thanks to the powerful rocket that it carried behind itself, which ignited was surprising.
Too bad they can only be in the air for less than 10 minutes because of the amount of fuel they could carry.
More than 70% of Me262 / Me163 or whatever with rocket / jet technology were shot down during takeoff / landing or due to mechanical failures or because they were simply 200 or more p51 / 47 against 10 or less German aircraft.
Look at it again, the 262 was behind a P-47 at altitude in part of the footage
@@ryanyoung8245 Nahh on 2:17,
the first seconds were from a landing. what you mention happens seconds later with another Me262 It's like 5 different fight shots in 15 seconds.
almost all are lopsided fights.
It was impossible for 600km/h allied propeller plane to approach a Me262 or Me 163 with 800-950km/h " like 2:51 shots (far far away).
On 3:27 those Me 163 on this video, they was literally gliding. If the rocket was actually working they were expelling a lot of smoke.
Like this video:
ua-cam.com/video/aAAeVCHKveo/v-deo.html
On this video we can see how a Me163 can reach 1000m of altituted on literally seconds
The 262 pilot had to contend with the Jumo engine which had very poor throttle response. It was also prone to stall at the best of times particularly if the throttle was used insensitivity, let alone in combat manoeuvres.
Eric Brown said of the 262, one of the most exceptional aeroplanes of WW2. But he didn't have to fly it in a combat situation.
Engine life was reckoned by Adolf Galland to be as little as 12 hours.
Problems with metallurgy not only effected the jets but had a severe effect on the engines of the 109 & 190.
@@nigelmitchell351 And then don't even get started on the me-163, pure death drap of an aircraft
@@Zogerpogger How to put an extra element of danger into an already rather dangerous occupation.!
No MIC on Gun Camera. OK?
I've never seen an Axis flying boat like the one getting strafed from 2:05 - 2:10. Looks like a BV222 with a twin tail?
Hard to believe they didn’t know it was all over as the skies were full of allied planes.
I think we could give the machine guns sounds a rest, God Almighty!!!! I love how the shooting fighters have endless bullets to expend!
Indeed! Gun cameras did not have microphones to record the gunshots.
The machine gun sounds were ridiculous.
While I agree with you, we have to remember that this was for home audiences in cinemas for morale purposes. While we as aviation history enthusiasts might have no problem watching these as they should be, silent, the average audiences would get a bit disinterested.
US fighters carried up to 2000rds of .50 and .30 ammo. The US's thought was the .50 was better than 20mm cannons because it can produce more fire density, and same variety of ammo belts.
I think you need to remember moron that this is multiple plans with sound affects. Think about how stupid you're comment is.
I love how they describe the Me 163 (a rocket aircraft) as a jet; then describe the me 262 (a jet aircraft) as “like a rocket”.
never seen before, very intersting
Just think you can hear two of eight
That 1 sound clip repeated over and over and over plus the poxy watermark gets a thumb down and blocked for misleading.
nice)
i bet those machine guns are an old teletype machine.
lOOOL cool
Em German's coulda used a lesson or two on landing. Dang.
considering that the cam was only triggered by the guns, the pilot was clearly aiming for the parachuter. Also americans were known for waiting the planes to take off or land and get them while they are vulnerable.....the german considered this a cheap tatic and dishonorable, as there would be no time for the pilots to eject.
A lot of aircraft had cameras that would come on once the guns were armed.
All is fair in .........
May have fired to clearly miss but have the camera catch the chute in the image to confirm the kill
@@TheRaulr151 bullshit, it is confirmed allied (US) pilots did this especially in the end of the war when they had air superiority. japaneses pilots did this as well.
@@bladerj German pilots did it as well. I think it's pretty well confirmed that all countries had pilots that did this, so why single out the Americans? And TheRaulr151 is absolutely correct - American pilots DID use the camera to verify that the plane was shot down AND the pilot ejected safely. If in friendly territory, it would justify a search for the enemy pilot.
1:10 to 1:17. Takes some explaining. that's a Mosquito.
@1:18 .... isn´t that a DH Mosquito?
Luftpiraten in Aktion ☠
2:44 that 262 be like: reeeeee!
You can tell the footage is American, they were the only dirty fighters on the allied side who shot pilots on the parachute.
1:16 looks almost like a Mosquito. What is it?
262 in a flat spin I'd rather have a p 51
1:12 What is this??? A Me410? A Fw 187? Not by 1944 though,....perhaps a Ta154?

IL-2?
1 minute 16 secs shows an RAF Mosquito. It was attacked by American P-51’s whose pilots aircraft recognition left a lot to be desired. They continued the attack and shot it down.
Flying too slow to be a Mosquito.
@@samiam619 Don’t expect high marks for aircraft recognition, that is unquestionably a Mossie. Shape of the tail, rear of the nacelles, cockpit shape, observer bubble.....it’s a Mossie and it was shot down by friendly fire. You aren’t a Mustang pilot are you?
How do you have even the slightest clue about how fast it was going?
6:11 I don't know which is worse. The shooters aim or the germans flying.
To be fair by this point in the war many were probably inexperienced 18 year old boys.

Not trying to be a nerd but under the geneva convention it states that if a air combatant has landed you are not permitted to straf or do any more harm to the aircraft they have made it clear that they are not combat capable. It doesn't matter if this pilot has killed 100 other American fighters but it is the global law. Breaking this law of war is punishable by death. Just wanted to point that out
