- RI Comic Con welcomed the cast of the original MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS to it's inaugural convention where they participated in this panel on November 3rd, 2012.
Moderated by Forces of Geek's Kas DeCarvalho, the panel guests included JASON DAVID FRANK, DAVID YOST and WALTER JONES.
i agree with what Jason David Frank said that you can't beat the original. Mighty Morphin Powers is the best. I want a Jason David Frank and Amy Jo Johnson reunion I haven't seen them together

I didnt know David was gay until I got way older. I was 8 in 94 so I didnt care. He was one of my favorite rangers. While I dont agree with his lifestyle, it has nothing to do with me and it does not take away how talented he is and how humble he is

Tragically, on September 3rd 2001, Thuy was a passenger in a car, traveling on the I-5, which suddenly went out of control. The resulting accident was fatal for her. She leaves behind only a small body of work but, through them, she made an impact on many. Thuy Trang will be missed by many.

I remember when this show first started. Kimberly aka Amy Jo Johnson aka the Pink Ranger was my favorite. btw all you people think it was Kimberly that died in 2001 your wrong it was Trini that died in a car wreck. don't believe me check out Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers (1993): Where are they now?
It was Trini.. She was fairly young but yes. it was the yellow one.

They said in a panel that they only realized what they did after 10 episodes and apologized for the unintentional racism. The mistake was corrected in Season 2 with the new Yellow Ranger.
Have a look at David Yost. He looks so uncomfortable while sitting next to Walter and Frank. He was so insecure in this convention.

Low self esteem due to many years of bullying. That might not be all of the reason why, but I do believe it's most of the reason. That's why you just don't do that to people. It's very damaging to a person's psyche and can often lead them to suicide as well. I'd hate to live with that on my conscience.

Yup I agree with Jason David Frank the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was the best out of all them. So much memories from that series I used to watch it every day it was on after I got home from school. It was my entire childhood lol.

Amy Jo Johnson who starred in Disney's Susie Q in 1995! I was 6 years old and she was my first crush ever.
Walter, i remember him on buffy the vampire slayer.. he was in the the 4th season and had scenes with zander and oz.. it was a halloween episode. i wish he would have been a main character in that show to display his martial art skills...

To all the old schoolers who remember season 1 when it first aired, does anyone remember the turtle the Green Ranger's zord getting stepped on by on of the big monsters? I was so sad, he looked like he suffered so much!
The 6 original Power Rangers fan for life. I did have the original fan club stuff, but life happened and my stuff got donated to younger PR fans. I was such a fan, that even when I was alchohal poisoned drunk, I was quoting PR episodes...lmao...I LOVE YOU TOMMY OLIVER, Miss you Thuy.

I am such a huge fan of the original Rangers. I still have all the episodes right before Zack, Trini and Jason left. After that it seemed empty. I mean, there have been many spin offs from the franchise but NOTHING beats the original cast. And Walter Jones...good GAWD, he is still fine. That Detroit water's still doing it's thang, baby!

Finally theres a comic con with some of the original 6 rangers. This is by far the best one because of that reason. They need to stick together as they continue to show up at other cons. My friends and I told each other that we didn't want to go to a con unless it had some of the original 6 rangers there.

What JDF and Austin did was they use to tease him (not knowing he was gay at the time)...but they were friends and are best friends to this day....some producers did pick on David when they found out he was gay and would call him names and demoted him from being a power ranger b/c they didn't think it was going to be cool to have a gay guy as a power ranger so he eventually quit one day and walked off the set

29:27-29:53 Hmm, Walter says he left the show because of contractual disagreement. I've heard many people say that Walter, Thuy and Austin were either fired or walked out over a salary disagreement. So, which is these is actually true?
I think what Walter said was a nice way of saying it was a contractual issue over pay. The three of them wanted to renegotiate their contracts because they were getting paid very lowly considering MMPR was at its height as a global phenomenon.

No she explained it a few months ago..she has huge anxiety and nightmares in large crowds and at these conventions b/c she has had many stalkers show up in the 90s at these following her so she doesn't go to any...she didn't attend any for her other show flashpoint either
You should hear the interview that No Pink Spandex did to her, it was awesome. She said that that kind of places are very overwhelming to her.
Amy (pink ranger) refuses to do any comic con appearances b/c she said she is afraid of large crowds and have panic attacks...Austin (jason) is a real life paramedic who is actually overseas in japan doing paramedic work

I know. Even cooler was Yost learned to fight later on in his run and looked believable. He became just as capable as the other's.

It's all the original cast members who do conventions. Amy Jo has a very busy schedule and nothing but good excuses to not make it. I'm not sure about Austin, but I don't think he's ever done conventions. Thuy Trang is unfortunately dead. However, Audrey Du Bois, the actress who played Trini in the original pilot episode, does conventions.
That would include Jason David Frank, Steve Cardenas, David Yost, Karan Ashley, Catherine Sutherland, and Johnny Yong Bosch.

this is only his 2nd convention so he is just warming up to it and getting used to it...he is getting alot more comfortable though
