That is a good tip! Thanks! Too bad all of the common air pumps on the market don't have built-in adjustments so that we could just use less electricity and make the pumps last longer.
I find a far more effective way to muffle the bleed air is to connect it to an external air stone. Simply connecting up more tube doesn't do anything to muffle the air to my ears, in fact it sounds like a kid "playing music" through a cardboard paper towel roll. But an external airstone - magic.
Just saw this and within few minutes made one for my fry tank, as I don't have a T, I used a Y from my inventory. Excellent & simple idea, that valve kept me worried for the air pump going bad anytime.

Brilliant tip. I tried it on my aquarium pump. Great way to adjust air. Keep it up.
Best wishes from India :)
Had to do this at 1 in the morning. Totally awesome.
Should I add a check valve with this bleed rig?
Hey Brilliant Tip
Will it still have back pressure if you have 1 way check valve on your tubing?
How do you know when you need one?
What if the power goes out?
Very informative.. can i use the same procedure on a submersible filter??
Please advise
connect the controller directly without Tee 😎😎
is fish store from missauga because the store looks like from missauga
I made this and no go it simply never restricted the air flow to a whisper.
